GRINSPOON ANNOUNCE SIX TO MIDNIGHT TOUR MARCH 2010

Grinspoon's sixth studio album Six To Midnight has received a tremendous response so far, debuting at #4 in the ARIA charts and winning mountains of praise from fans and reviewers alike. The first single Comeback, the latest single Summer, have both received huge reactions, gaining high rotation on most major TV & radio stations, with the latter destined to be one of this summer's biggest hits.

Legendary US producer Rick Will (Johnny Cash, No Doubt, Nine In Nails) was behind the albums' production & mixing duties, and has delivered one of Grinspoon's finest records to date. The band returned to their spiritual home town of Byron Bay to record the album, which helped them capture their affinity for a good live hard rock record, something the band really wanted to achieve.

Grinspoon's return to the live scene earlier this year saw them play to a wild and overflowing main stage at this year's Splendour In The Grass festival, which went down as one of the band's most memorable gigs to date. A sold out launch tour on the east coast in September soon followed, with Six To Midnight released at the same time. Their loyal army of fans received their first taste of the record in a live setting, and judging by the reaction, it's one of their best yet.

Grinspoon will tackle the national Big Day Out tour in early 2010 alongside artists like Muse, Lily Allen & Mars Volta, and also played a special one off show with Cold Chisel at the V8 supercars after party in Sydney last weekend.

In celebration of all these great things, Grinspoon have decided to do what they do best and hit the road for a national headline tour in March 2010, their first major national tour since 2008. Come and see why Grinspoon have been proclaimed one of Australia's premier live acts, time and time again.

In an entertainment coup, V8 Supercars Australia has confirmed the country’s most successful rock band, Cold Chisel, will re-unite for a special one show only concert event at the much anticipated Sydney Telstra 500, on Saturday 5 December.
The announcement cements the Sydney Telstra 500 as Sydney’s biggest sporting and entertainment event for 2009, with the three-day entertainment spectacular at Sydney Olympic Park offering the best touring car racing on show by day and a celebration of iconic Australian music by night.
Rock legend and Cold Chisel singer Jimmy Barnes said that this was an opportunity the band could not pass up.
"Cold Chisel is the best band I have ever played with. No matter when we get together sparks fly and something beautiful happens. The band has always been a huge part of my life and I know that when we play, the house will rock. I can't wait to get in front of The V8 crowd and cut loose. Bring it on."
Co-rock legend and guitar player/singer Ian Moss added:"For me it’s a great opportunity to rip into a catalogue of great songs with a bunch of guys that know how to rock, every time they get on stage!!"
A first year crowd of 150,000 people is expected to attend the Sydney Telstra 500 across the three days of racing and two nights of four-hour concert entertainment.
The Friday evening concert after the race line up includes performances by Australia’s hottest dance music sensations The Presets, Sneaky Sound System and The Potbelleez.
The Saturday evening concert entertainment will rock Olympic Park, featuring a night of headlining performances from punk rockers The Living End and post-grunge band Grinspoon, and ending with the one-off hit after hit not to missed concert by Cold Chisel.
Providing excellent value for money the Friday and Saturday night concerts are included in the price of a Sydney Telstra 500 day ticket. Friday event tickets start from $48.00, and Saturday from $76.00, and include a full day of diverse on-track entertainment, championship V8 Supercar racing, entry to night concerts and free public transport to and from the event.
V8 Supercars Australia Executive Chairman Tony Cochrane said the Sydney Telstra 500 is the signature event of the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series calendar.
“Sydney Olympic Park is tailor made as an entertainment and events precinct, with the Sydney Telstra 500 turning the area into a showcase street circuit and concert venue,” Mr Cochrane said
“Not since the 2000 Sydney Olympics has the space been used to such a large-scale, offering a world class entertainment package that is incredibly affordable and provides a full day and night of entertainment.
“To secure Cold Chisel, undoubtedly Australia’s most influential rock band, to come together for a special one-off performance is a huge coup for V8 Supercar fans and Sydney event goers and stamps the Sydney Telstra 500 as an event not to be missed by race and music fans from around the country.”
The Sydney Telstra 500 is Sydney’s first ever street race, and the dramatic conclusion to the V8 Supercar season, where the 2009 Series Champion will be determined.
The event will be televised live throughout Australia and New Zealand as well broadcast to 110 countries and 800 million homes internationally.
Tickets are on sale now and available through Ticketek. Visit www.ticketek.com.au

SOUTHERN AMP 09 – ROCK & ROOTS OVERRULE THE RECESSION…!....

Christchurch will once again stage the South Island's biggest multi-stage festival when Southern Amp 09 kicks into life on Thursday 12th November from 4.30pm til midnight at Westpac Arena in Addington. Amp-fans will not have to freak out about work or Uni the next day either with Friday 13th November being a holiday and the start of the Canterbury long weekend! This year’s Southern Amp will feature 2 massive main stages standing side-by-side along one side of the Arena pumping out continuous live vibes. Main Stages AMP-A and AMP-B will give a much wider view, a much more 'closer to the action' overall experience, but most importantly NON-STOP LIVE MUSIC, as soon as A ends, B will burst into life. There will also be a 3rd stage featuring some of our best local bands & DJs + the usual outdoor area for bars, food stalls etc. With a maximum of just 5000 tickets being put on sale this year we expect these tickets to be snapped up quickly.  ....
Joining the eclectic mix on Southern Amp this year are:....

Buzzcocks are still playing loud & fast, like guys half their age! The South Island will be treated to UK pop-punk heroes on their first Mainland visit at Southern Amp since they formed in the heady punk days of 1978 and created a thousand imitators world-over. With a breakneck set featuring punk classics 'Boredom', 'Ever Fallen in Love', 'I Don't Mind', ‘Orgasm Addict’ and plenty more their wild stage gyrations, arm swinging and fast guitars will leave the crowd exhausted and charged!  (Website – www.buzzcocks.com  | Myspace – www.myspace.com/buzzcocksofficial )

Kora are without doubt one of NZ most exciting live bands of the past 5 years. A combo of “heavy-metal-dub-funk-blues,” they are known for delivering blistering live sets that send their thousands of fans in NZ, Australia and beyond absolutely wild. After a recent sell-out South Island mini-tour in July, Kora are back in Christchurch performing for the first time on the Southern Amp Festival in their ONLY South Island live performance of the 2009/2010 summer.   (Website – www.kora.co.nz  | Myspace – www.myspace.com/koraroots )

Salmonella Dub have been exciting thousands of grooving fans with their infectious live performances on countless tours and major festivals around the world since 1994. They are without doubt one of NZ’s most influential  Dub/Reggae & Roots acts of all time.  With a brand new EP ‘Freak Local’ just released and new Album due in early November, they play Southern Amp for the first time ever as part of their 2009 summer NZ circuit after returning from their 30th tour of Australia… (Website – www.salmonelladub.com  | Myspace – www.myspace.com/officialsalmonelladub )

Grinspoon have been a music festival favourite and a mainstay on the Australian music scene for close on 15 years. Led by controversial frontman Phil Jamieson, they have built a massive following through endless touring and thumping rock shows. After 18 months recording their new album ‘Six To Midnight’ the band head back on the road to showcase the new album and of course, belt out some GS classics. (Website – www.grinspoon.com.au  | Myspace – www.myspace.com/grinspoon )....

The Veils return to Southern Amp after touring the globe twice over since their last appearance in 2007. With their 3rd superb album ‘Sun Gangs’ released this year, the UK-via-New Zealand quartet and their striking frontman Finn Andrews are the best kind of live-set theatre around and every live set seems fraught with unanticipated intimate danger! A terrifyingly brilliant live act not to be missed. (Website – www.theveils.com  | Myspace – www.myspace.com/theveils )

Mammal from Melbourne are like a power generator on overload! They have so much energy in their playing and live shows that you cannot help but get swept up in it. With a mix of influences from Rollins to Rage Against The Machine filtering through their visceral, chaotic, bass-led sound, Mammal visit the south for the first time at Southern Amp after their first headline tour to UK has brought rave reviews. (Website - www.mammaltheband.com | Myspace - www.myspace.com/mammaltheband)....

An Emerald City NZ’s Psychedelic explorers return home after an eventful summer in Europe to bring their explosive and unique live show to Southern Amp. 2009 marked the release of their debut album ‘Circa Scaria’ recorded in an isolated west coast cave. They’ve since been based in Berlin touring Europe and creating wondrous new sounds. (Website – www.anemeraldcity.blogspot.com | Myspace – www.myspace.com/anemeraldcity)
