Jerry Bernardo of FAHQ MC/ Black Rainbow has custom painted this One Industries helmet and will be raffling it off at the upcoming round of the OMA Nationals.
One lucky winner will walk away on race day with this helmet. Raffle tickets will be $5 and all proceeds will go to benefit Jerry...LOL
He probably has some lung problems from all the helmets he has painted over the last 20 years...will he save the money for medical costs or go on a Red Bull bender? With Jerry, you never know. It could also be his Social Securtiy Fund ???

Jerry has painted 2 of them exactly the same and if all goes well he will raffle off the second one at the following round 6 of the OMA Nationals.

A letter from Patrick Smage...

March 3, 2009

Chairperson : Barbara Flynn Currie
Republican Spokesperson : William B. Black
Member: Lou Lang
Member: Timothy L. Schmitz
Member: Arthur L. Turner

Dear members of the 96th General Assembly Rules Committee:

I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Patrick Smage. I'm 18 years old. I'd like to share with you my feelings about banning motorcycles and ATV to youths under 16 years old, for riding off the highways and roads in Illinois. I have had some of my fondest memories riding my dirt-bike when I was a kid. If I didn't have the opportunity to ride as a youth, I would not be anywhere near where I am today.

I remember back when I was 11 years old, riding the American Motorcyclist Association Youth National Championships in Tennessee. I finished second by the closest of margins. I was disappointed. But later that night, I ran into Ryan Young, the importer of the bike I rode, and still do. He told me to stop by his pits the next day. He had something for me. I remember the feeling I got after he told me to keep practicing everyday after school and you'll win. That gave me the drive to practice and train real hard. Everyday. The next year I won the AMA Youth Championship.

The AMA Youth program and riding when I was under 16 has not only made me a better rider, but a better person. I have traveled and competed around the world for the United States banner, in the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) World Championship.

Without learning to ride properly under 16, this would never have been possible for me to achieve.

Since then, the youth motorcycle program had developed thousands and thousands of kids like me. Not all are champions. But we have something to do to keep us off the streets and out of trouble. Riding our dirt-bikes off the road. Not all of us kids play tennis, football, basketball, soccer and baseball.

Without having dirt-bikes to ride as a young kid, there is no way I would have been able to become National Champion. Or have anywhere near the life experiences that's enriched my mind and soul. I owe it all to the AMA Youth Racing program and riding my off-highway motorcycle, as you call it. To deny the kids under 16 years old the chance to dream a dream and possibly become a national champion like I have earned, is denying a kid a chance to succeed in life.

Please vote no on llinois House bill 3914 with any wording to ban youth under 16 from riding off -highway motorcycles or ATV's.

Respectfully,

Patrick Smage - 18 years old

American Motorcyclist Association Member since 2000
2003 AMA Youth National Trials Champion at 12 years old.
2004 AMA Expert/Sportsman Champion at 14 years old.
2007 AMA Pro Class Trials Champion at 17 years old.
2007 AMA Sports Athlete of the Year.
2008 AMA Pro Class Trials Champion at 18 years old.

Patrick gets response from Illinois Senator Heather Steans (7th District) -- On behalf of all our racers we Thank Senator Heather Steans for her support!

Dear Patrick,

Thank you for writing to me to express your concerns about House Bill
3914, banning motorcycles and ATVs for youth under age 16 for riding
off the highways and roads in Illinois.

Your arguments against the bill are very persuasive. I think that it
is important for young people to develop their interests and get
involved in sports, hobbies, and extra curricular activities. I
appreciate the personal story that you shared with me about the impact
this bill would have had on an interest that is so important to you.

If this bill passes the house and arrives in the senate, I am very
likely to be an opponent of the bill for the reasons that you outline
in your letter. Thanks also for alerting me to this issue. There are
thousands of bill introduced in the legislature each year and
information from people who are effected personally by a bill is vital
for legislators to be able to make informed decisions. I encourage
you to continue to write legislators about this issue and have your
family and friends do the same.

Congratulations on your success and national championship!

Best,

Heather Steans State Senator

Meet... Illinois Rep. Mary Flowers (DEMOCRAT-CHICAGO)

Now read what her vision of restrictions should be for OUR sport and OUR kids...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Flowers Bill Would Prohibit Youth Riding

Illinois House bill 3914, introduced by Rep. Mary Flowers (D-Chicago), would
make it illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to operate and
all-terrain vehicle or off-highway motorcycle.

The proposed legislation would also make it illegal to transport a
passenger on an ATV or OHM regardless of whether the vehicle is
configured for a passenger. The bill would also require ATV and OHM
riders to have valid driver's licenses and wear helmets.

This legislation was referred to the rules committee on February 26th.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know how you are all feeling towards our recent government actions, but I've had just about enough here! They are getting WAY out of control with their power and actions! AND IT"S NOT just Miss Flowers here that is OUT OF CONTROL! OctoMom can have 14 KIDS... live off complete gov't assistance... but we can't allow our kids, WHO WE PAY FOR, ride a dirtbike or atv... Come on... ?????? Enough already. Some may think this is "unprofessional" ... "politically incorrect" to post this... it's time to take out the bull and get real here. The gov't is proposing laws and restrictions to absolutely destroy the grassroots of our sport and industry! I'm tired of being "politically correct".... what's next??? This Gov't official is ridiculous ! Give gov't one ridiculous law.... they will keep writing up more ridiculous laws.

IT TAKES A "SPECIAL" KIND OF PERSON TO TAKE AWAY A KID'S MINI BIKE OR ATV, ALONG WITH ALL THEIR DREAMS!

Enough said.

ANYONE with a dirtbike or atv.... Let's contact Miss Flowers... "politely and
professionally" and inform her of "OUR" sport and "OUR" children! Not hers...

August 18, 2008 - Monday

So instead of going on a quest for BigFoot, I decided to assist in the high costs of living these days and go get a part time job.  The old man, would chuckle and make the comment… "Well… Maybe you'll learn something, it could be a good adventure for ya."  So the pool would be set up… Monty had one month, Tonya had two weeks… Tonya would prevail. After two weeks of dealing with a woman who I feel could quit easily be diagnosed as bipolar, I handed in two weeks in two seconds.  So when I received a call from an old friend I hadn't spoke to in a month I had two words to say… "I'm Back". And the old man would chuckle one more time and ask me "What did ya learn?"… "Well… working for you isn't soooo bad. Now shut it!" I have come to the conclusion that a search for BigFoot would've been more productive and possibly accomplished. I must say the big boss was a pretty cool guy and fun to work with, and has his hands full. And I had to leave it with him that… Life is too short to deal with that, especially when you love life, laughing, thrills, and fun! All the things racing offers me!

So now that I'm back and over the burn out stage I went thru this summer… It's time to make up some missed coverage and blogging for ya'all!

Gossip, gossip, gossip… So everyone is gossiping how Whibley has taken the Championship away from our beloved JJ… Noooot sooo fast.  There is four rounds left and it isn't over 'til it's over.  Yes, the points lead is the size of a truck, but Whibley "MUST" Officially run 3 more.  Even Whibley is aware of this, and aware that anything could happen, and he is being very professional about it. And I can relate to JJ's challenging year, he's been struggling to put it together each race. I hear the gossip "He under-estimated Whibley at the OMA's"… maybe so, maybe not. Only JJ can answer that. Both Team Suzuki riders are talented and un-Godly fast. Come October we will see who will take the 2008 Championship, we wish them both the best!

Another gossip corner… Lagzdins out! Crane and Zimmerman are neck and neck, 12 points apart, with new upcoming fast kid, Shane Gaunt only 2 points down from Rob. Now I received a call from Zimmerman earlier this year, and it was… "I'm taking it back this year, Darcy! Lagzdins caught me in 07, but it's 08 and I'm training!" I had to chuckle at Rob, he's sooo dramatic. But he's keeping his word, he just wasn't expecting David Crane to make those ridiculous drives from Mississippi to the OMA's mainly based in the Northern Midwest. Whatever the outcome for the OMA ATV Championship we will be proud of all the atv racers who have put in a phenomenal racing year!

There's many Amateur Championship Titles on the line, and with some serious contenders.  Series new comer Zach Klamfoth,  07 Lite A Champion, Derek Spangler, and Marty Michels have been battling back and forth for the Open A Championship. All three Yamaha mounted and all three have consistent finishes.  These are the guys to watch for in Millville, if you want to watch great racing!

The minis this year have been a big talk at the OMA's, with more mini entries and talented kids running in 08. Jordan Milbauer is committed to taking an OMA 100cc 14-15 Championship away from the boys.  She currently has a 13 point lead over Austin Wells. Standing on the podium three out of six rounds.  However, as with Whibley and Jarrett... there are four rounds left and the amateurs have three throw aways to contend with, Wells has used up all his throw aways and must run remaining rounds.

The junior 110cc class, 12-13 has been the complete opposite of watching paint dry… These kids and their parents are determined! They make the T-ball dad's look like amateurs… okay… so I'm speaking of our girl, Tonya. With her son, Andrue Remley, currently running 2nd in the points, Jacob Ruchotzke and Bryan Studniarz's parents better watch out, Tonya may go slashing tires before the event. Haha… Ok.. so that was a cheap shot for the pool she started on my part time job.

So that's all for now folks… I'll be back later this week to run my mouth.

Over-N-Out!
