MON. JUNE 29: Puddle-Fuddle-Duddle. A rainy Monday. Worked from home. Worked from the cafe. My ears. Sticking to hard rock, rock, classical radio stations until the MJ music tribute over load blows over. Of course, looked like it would be yet another Monday evening softball game in the rain for my team. At least Budokon class B4 the game would be dry and indoors. Did the Budokon class. Then over to Park Le Ber in Point St. Charles  for yet another wet game of softball. This time, minimal rain during the game but the outfield was pretty water logged with puddles after all the rain in the past few days. We must be water rats for we won 10-6 inspired by our 2 doggy mascots, a boxer and a Doberman Pincher puppy. Whoop-Dahh!

SUN. JUNE 28: Had to make a run up to the radio station to drop off my lottery tickets and sale proceeds. Cut off time B4 the drawing. Community station thus 'fund raising' is on-going and selling lottery tickets for prizes is part of the revenue stream that keeps the station on the air.

After that was done with I stopped into the new farmer's market, Marche Duluth, on Laval Ave. in Le Plateau located between Marie-Anne and Rachel for their inaugural Sunday. It is located in the playground behind a school. Picked up organic honey made up some where towards Tremblant; Mango Salsa dip made by an entrepreneurial firm called PepperMaster that make fresh, hot pepper sauces (yummy!); a garlic spread from a couple of dudes out Ormstown way in the Eastern Townships (you can buy the garlic plants and mush it in a blender if you are a keener), and goat cheese (I don't own any goats ... I don't see that working out with my dog Nina ... bad visual) All local food as in the 100-mile diet concept. They had a really good turn out for day 1. Should be a success all summer on Sundays.

Watched the Jays ball game; a brain fart unclogged a creative writing cramp; read fiction (had 2 much reality of late); did chores; all the thrills and spills of Sundays.

OUT & ABOUT:
-Saturday June 27: Walked over to do my BUDOKON class @ Zazen Spa in Old Montreal in the morning but discovered it had been canceled ... my bad for not calling ahead; Light rain thus decided Plan B would not be cycling or in-line skating; Noppers, just produced my show content from the local Van Houtte Cafe@ the corner of Wellington - McGill and wrapped @ the home studio; Up to the radio station to broadcast episode #125 of THE EARTH LOUNGE on CINQ FM 102.3 (14:30); Ice Cream stop @ KG Cafe after  wards; Walk  and window shopping thru Mile End and Le Plateau. Decided not to buy any windows after all.

-Friday June 26:  Work-Work-Work. Also a small condo renovation project. Caught the NHL ENTRY DRAFT on the tube but it was being hosted here in Montreal @ the Bell Centre. No surprise in John Tavares being the #1 pick and going to the New York Islanders. The Habs draft a local kid from Pointe-Claire, Louis Leblanc, in round #1 (he was the 18th pick in the 1st round).  LeBlanc played for the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey league where he was Rookie of the Year and 8th in the league in goal scoring with 28-goals and 59-points in 60 games.

-Thursday June 25: Work-Work-Work. Evening shopping @ Home Depot B4 heading out.

-Wednesday June 24:  FETE ST. JEAN (Province of Quebec Stat holiday) Sunny and hot for the holiday. Nize. Did brunch and sailing with a buddy of mine. Brunch in LaSalle @ Peddlers Restaurant on Newman Blvd. Sailing from the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club in Dorval out on Lac St. Louis. The wind died out when we were on the water. lol. But it was like 30 Celsius and sunny so nothing to much to complain about on the water.

-Wednesday June 24, 2009: FETE ST. JEAN (Province of Quebec  Stat Holiday) The evening was playing OUTDOOR BEACH VOLLEYBALL league (4 x 4) @ 365 VOLLEYBALL in Griffintown by the Lachine Canal. Playing for my team, the SOBs. Was a gorgeous spring eve for volleyball. Eve better for a frosty post game libation and burger.

-Tuesday June 23: Went to the Canadian Football League (CFL) exhibition game @ the Percival Molson Stadium.  Excellent eve for football! Sunny. Warm in teh upper 20s Celsius. Ideal summer's night. The Alouettes came back from a 26-25 deficit at the end of the 3rd Qtr to win the game 31-27! Go Als Go! Their CFL regular season starts July 1 in Calgary. Earlier in the day it was in-line skating and getting the flat tire on my bicycle fixed at the local repair - rental shop, Ca Roule, on De La Commune Street in my own hood.

-Monday June 22:  Also played softball in the CMSS mixed, recreational league at Park Ignance Bourget  in LaSalle @ 9:30 pm. Had enuf time to fit in the Budokon class B4 the softball game. We got the late match this week making that feasible. Finally, a softball match without RAIN and or COLD! Excellent conditions. We won it 18-6. GO KOGNAXE GO!

-Monday June 22: Caught the Advanced BUDOKON class @ Zazen Spa starting @ 5:45 pm.

-Monday June 22: keener on a sunny morning! Did an early (for me any way) Yoga - Cardio kick Box work out @ the Peel Basin. Got a flat bicycle tire heading over. That was very Monday morning.

-Sunday June 21: Father's Day. My own dad pasted away many years back but the day always holds fond memories of our Father's Day trout fishing outings.

-Saturday June 20; Checked out the GLASS TIGER concert (and free $$$) @ the CRESCENT STREET 50th Anniversary Street Party. Good stuff from the classic rock - 80s band.  I found a light beer that I can enjoy beyond the ads in Bud Light Lime. In summer time its all good while in winter its stout and amber ales.

FRI. JUNE 26: Work and condo renovation project. Another run to the hardware store. OK, its not that exciting but life has many an ordinary day. Watched the NHL Entry Draft in the evening. John Tavares not surprisingly the 1st overall pick going to the NY Islanders. The Habs drafted 18th in round #1 selecting local boy LeBlanc from Pointe-Claire. The dude has been playing for the Omaha Lancers (yeppers, they do play hockey in the south west) in the United States Hockey League where he was Rookie of the Year and the 8th ranked score in the league.

Wednesday June 24, 2009: All was quiet in the 'hood for the mid-week St. Jean Holiday. Whether some were hurting from parties the night B4 or just sleeping in to a rare mid-week break the only chirping was the birds, the robins. Sunny morning. On the way to 30 Celsius was the morning weather news. Sweet. Excellent for BBQs.

Went sailing (kell boat) in the afternoon on Lac St. Louis from the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club. Lots of breeze until we got out onto the lake then the wind died out. Still, a good day just to be out on the water.

Played Beach Volleyball in the evening @ 365 Volleyball in 4x4 play for my team the SOBs. Enjoyed a beer and nurger on their terrace afterwards.

Ya couldn't have better conditions. Yello summer 2009.

Tuesday June 23, 2009: The summer holiday season has a few mid-week holidays to start things off. The Province of Quebec holiday on Wednesday the 24th and likewise Canada Day on a Wednesday July 1. Makes for a split work week in Cube World ... 2-days work; 1-day stat holiday, 2-days work makes for a different week for the office crowd. When its a Tuesday or Thursday thing many will take an extra day to make it a 4-day weekend but when its a Wednesday holiday not quite as easy unless you are kicking off your vacation period.

Yet, for many this won't be a day off but instead a day of sweat and toil for the hordes engage in the annual relocation festival called "Moving Day." School wraps up. The masses move with leases ending June 30. They'll use the June 24 and / or  July 1 stat holiday to pack, load and move-on. Moving van activity in our building of some 81-units way up the past few weeks. One of our two elevators tied up with moving crews. No plans myself for a July 1 move myself.

Yea! Two of my Yahoo Fantasy baseball teams in head-to-head weekly match up play are in 1st place as we hit the last week of June:

--->The Wild Pitching Weasels (67-37-6 in public league 232533) led by Brewer Prince Fielder plus awesome pitching led by Red Sox Jonathon Papelbon in the bullpen up against 10th place PF Flier (39-58-13)

---> The Whacked Weasels (65-39-6 in public league 232310) led by hot bats Juan Rivera of the Angels combined with Rays players Ben Zobrist, Evan Longoria and Carl Crawford plus stellar pitching with a bullpen of Mariano Rivera, Matt Capps, Ryan Franklin, George Sherrill in this week's match-up against the 5th place Boston Sewer Rat (59-45-6).

--->The Saucy Sausages are in 3rd spot but moving up (63-38-9 in public league 239923).Solid hitting led by Philly 2B Chase Utley. excelelnt Bullpen with Ryan Franklin (17-saves) of the Cards and Huston Street 916-saves) of the Rockies. Royal Zach Grienke with 9-wins leads my starting pitchers.

----> The Mangy Minx are the lowliest of my head-2-head teams in 6th spot (58-51-1 in public league 232208) but only 5-wins out of 1st spot in a close bunching at the top of the league. I have power in Phillies Ryan Howard (20-HRs) and Ray's Evan Longoria (16-HRs). Speed in Scott Podsednik (10-SBs) of the White Sox, Juan Pierre (17-SBs) of the Dogers and Jason bartlett (14-SBs) of the Rays. Solid team.

However, in Roti Style Fantasy Baseball not fairing quite so well. No Sirree Bob, With the Spitball Squirrels in 6th spot (public league 242913) and the Forkball Ferrets in 9th spot (public league 232717) after a plague of injuries to season start draftees it'll take weeks to claw back near the top of the standings.

Weather gorgeously sunny and suppose to be upper 20s Celsius! Yea. Going to see the CFL Football Montreal Alouettes exhibition game Tuesday evening @ Molson Stadium hosting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

My bank called @ 8:30 am. Keeners. Now why couldn't the 1st call of the day be from the Lottery people saying I'd won Quad-Zillions on a crap shot lottery ticket? Because this is real life.
And in real life it was a morning of sales leads with a 11:00 am in-line skate break down the Lachine Canal Trail to the De L'Eglisse Bridge and back under sunny, breezy, summer conditions.
...
Celebrated the St. Jean Holiday Eve by going to the CFL (Canadian Football League) Montreal Alouettes exhibition game @ teh Percival Molson Stadium. The Als  against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Heck of a game. Gorgeous evening for the game also. Love the stadium on Mont-Royal for the picturesque site, the intimacy with crowds of about 20,000 at most matches. They sell out every match. Its all good. Way better than the Big O or way-way back the Autostad.
Read an article afterwards stating it was a sell-out. Impressive for an exhibition game. In fact, as I was lined up for hot dogs at half-time one of the concession people informed us they had sold-out of hot dogs. Yessirree, we all wanted the beer & BBQ vibe. Happily they didn't run out of beer!

Anyway, the game. Als were up 17-3 at the point they pulled veteran Anthony Cavillo during the 2nd quarter to give the young guns a look at QB. Brad Banks came in but the team did squat. Adrian MacPherson the likeliest candidate to be Calvillo's backup for the regular season starting July 1 with a game in Calgary. MacPherson, Santos, Leak also got a whack at the QB spot. Everyone got a look B4 the final cuts going into the regular season.

The Blue Bombers clawed back to take a 26-25 lead going in to the 4th quarter. An Alouettes comeback for the win would be needed. Two Field Goals by kicker Damon Duval gave the Alouettes the 31-27 win to the joy of the home crowd. Happy-happy, Joy-Joy was the exiting crowd.

Other than the ever steady Damon Duval offensively the Als had a big game from RB Whitaker with 94-yards, 1-TD  on 9 carries led the ground game plus he caught 4-passes. The Blue Bombers sucked in the air but ran the ball well all night. Lefors, the Winnipeg QB was 9 for 21 with 0-TD and 1-interception. Peg' running back Giles ran for 161-yards and 1-TD.

Monday June 22, 2009: Sunshine and breezy for Monday morning. Up early. Decided to start the day and the week off right with a work out. Cycled over to the park for a Yoga - Cardio Kick Box workout B4 settling into work by 9ish. Wrapped the afternoon up by catching the ADVANCED BUDOKON class @ Zazen Spa. More jocularity to be had with a 9:30 PM Softball game @ Park Ignance Bourget (Or Iggy Pop Park) in LaSalle. The KOGNAXE had a solid night of hitting pounding out 35-hits in an 18-6 victory. Happy to play and win when it wasn't raining hard or freezing our record improved to 3-1 on the season.

A round of applause for all you BLOOD DONORS during National Blood donor Week !!!

Web site for Hema-Quebec: http://www.hema-quebec.qc.ca/anglais/index.htm     This is the 2nd annual National Blood Donor Week here in Canada from June 8-14. Summer and vacation time can potentially mean a drop off in donors. Not good. It could be yourself or someone close to you that needs a summer blood transfusion. If you are a qualified blood donor do pitch in a pint by giving the most worthy of gifts, the gift of life. I did my 16th blood donation on April 23 @ the Molson's Blood Donor Clinic thus I have to wait the 50-odd days until I can give again. The card they gave me after my previous donation indicated I must wait until June 18  before I can do my 17th blood donation to to Hema-Quebec. Their web site page for National Blood donor Week stated that 1,000 donations a day are needed to meet the demand of hospitals in the Province of Quebec.
