Howdy!
In the interests of interactivity, I have finally succumbed to this web wonder known as the blog.
If you havent been keeping an eye on the website then youve missed quite a bit and I have some ground to cover. We have a new album out, The Stars Look Different From Down here, and we shall use this release as a common frame of reference, our point of origin.
Springs been fun. The first single In Time had us darting from here to there, and back to here again in what became our first UK tour in 3 years. At some point midway I misplaced my voice at a gig in Newcastle but quickly found it lying around some days later. As luck would have it, we were able to reschedule these dates for June allowing us to traverse Englands green and pleasant land in blazing sunshine.
Upon our triumphant return to sunny Glasgow, there being no rest for the wicked, we recorded the video to the new single When You Come Around, which is released on July 24th. To be honest, shooting a video is a day out for us. Its a load of fun. And it gives me an opportunity to indulge myself in a childhood penchant for wearing makeup, an admission I make freely and without coercion. (mod revival that accompanied The Whos Quadrophenia was a liberating experience for me, and for a short time Jimmy was a hero of sorts) Anyway, the video looks great and Im sure the folks at CRR HQ will have it up on our site presently. We had a great time working with the guys at The Hold in Edinburgh and our makeup girls Ana and Cody at DirtDirt. Its already been playlisted at a few video stations so youll probably come across it if you watch those type of things.
Last week we took a quick boat to Belfast to play CineMagic festival with Starsailor. The second time weve played with them in Ireland, great band and nice guys too. Ironically we saw Journey South sing Desperado there too. Ironic only in that we were at The Eagles gig at Hampden Park the night before. We were hoping for a support, with The Eagles that is, but with a 3 hour set who needs a warm up act? One of my most bizarre memories was turning around on stage at the Barrowlands a few years back to see Joe Walsh playing guitar with us. He is just about the coolest guy alive.
This week were rehearsing for what will be our 5th T in the Park appearance. Were headlining the Futures stage at Britains best festival and its always a pleasure to play there. If we werent playing, wed be there anyway as the line up this year is so good. The Who, Paul Weller, Franz, Arctic Monkeys, The Fratellis. Who wouldnt go?
Itll be great to give the new songs an airing at T, cant wait, Im nervous already. I might even get the makeup out for The Who on Sundaysee you there.
