No "say cheese!"
No performance anxiety.
No uncomfortable smiles.
No 'fixing' you in Photoshop.
No bright white backgrounds.

A range of props to play with.
A wardrobe of clothes to try on.
A make-up artist, if you'd like one.
A chilled out, easy-going atmosphere.
A shoot in the studio or in your own home.

Rock Candy 06 Trppl 01 D

Dolly Sasha 02 Steam Punk AJ 03 Pop 09

A portraiture shoot - whether laid-back and natural, striking and colourful, classic black and white, a more boudoir-style or even a horror shoot (seriously, they're awesome fun!) - makes a perfect gift for someone you love. As an open-minded and experienced female photographer, I’m happy to work with individuals and couples so whatever floats your boat will make a fabulous photo, whether its you and your other half having a pillow-fight or a close-up of your gorgeous face.

Prior to any shoot, I like to have a chat on the phone or by email to begin the process of working with the client to create the pictures they desire. I believe that people are beautiful as they are and while it's understandable for a client to want a scar, a spot or a couple of little lines removed, I would never dream of airbrushing anyone into a fake plastic version of themselves. A RockstarVanity photo shoot is always a fun and comfortable experience resulting in you being, well, you!

If you would like to give a portraiture shoot to someone as a Christmas gift, I would be happy to provide you with a personalised gift certificate. Portraiture shoots start at £125 and last approximately an hour. For longer shoots, inclusion of numerous concepts and HOME shoots for clients outside of Edinburgh (my studio is in Edinburgh city centre but some of my equipment is portable for home shoots), prices will be higher. A make-up artist can be arranged too, although this isn't included in the shoot price. Please get in touch for a quote before booking!

Finished, fully processed, images (a print-resolution set AND a smaller set, perfect to use online or send by email) will be provided on a CD within two weeks of the shoot. I can recommend a print service which I have had only positive experiences with or am happy to handle printing for a small admin fee.

BOOK NOW FOR A SHOOT IN JANUARY OR FEBRUARY!

You can view a selection of my work at RockstarVanity.com

If you would like a reference feel free to request contact details for previous clients.

For further information or to book a shoot, you are welcome to contact me by email at Tanya@RockstarVanity.com or by phone on 07737 549 774.

This is copy-pasta'd from my ModelMayhem Casting Call.  If you would prefer to read and respond to it on MM, go HERE.

Before you read any further, this Casting Call will only be relevant to you if you are...

FEMALE, OVER 19, LIVING IN OR CLOSE TO EDINBURGH AND HAPPY TO POSE FOR AWESOME YUMMY ALT GLAM PHOTOS IN THE STYLE OF THE OTHER IMAGES ON ZIVITY.COM

I am currently planning to book shoots for content to submit to Zivity.com, starting to book early January 2010 when my back injury heals.  This is the ONLY TF* that I am currently considering.  I would like to connect with female models (19+) in or around Edinburgh to shoot photo sets for the site (and their portfolio and for use online).  People thinking of signing up would be fab, but people who are ALREADY on the site would be even better!

Initially THIS IS TF* but Zivity's FAQ explains that models and photographers earn royalties via the site's voting system.  I'm not under the impression that there are fortunes to be made here, but it's a fun way to inspire creativity and get some exposure in a new field. As a member, I have invitations to send to models who would like to join.  Models can have an extension of the initial free trial period by emailing Zivity with their username and portfolio link/headshot and once your first set goes live, you're there for free forever (which is fab).

*** I don't run Zivity or have anything official to do with the site - I am simply grabbing some info to post here so that I don't end up answering the same questions a hundred times ***

Before replying, please visit Zivity.com, have a look around, get an idea of what the place is all about and take your time to think about whether or not you want to join. Obviously it's better if both photographer AND model(s) are enthusiastic about the site and if you're already working on establishing, building and maintaining an online fanbase, Zivity.com is another place to meet potential fans/followers/admirers.

If this isn't your thing, no worries...just don't reply :-)

Ideally I would like to shoot studio sets in my studio on the south side of Edinburgh's city centre and as this isn't a paying gig right now I can't afford to cover travel costs.  If you aren't able to easily and cheaply get to Edinburgh, please don't contact me asking for travel money or saying that you live in London/Brighton/Australia but can come to Scotland.

If you'd like to reply, please email me at Tanya@RockstarVanity.com cause I can never quite keep up with messages on all different websites.

Zivity is a site full of hot awesome. If you aren't on it, you are seriously missing out.

Intrigued yet? As those of you who know me well will know, I spend a lot of time on the net, choose my online haunts carefully and make sure to be genuinely dedicated to and active on any sites I get involved with. I joined Zivity recently and have two photo sets already on show and two waiting to be published. One of the coolest things about the site is that members can vote for photo sets - members get free votes with their subscription and can also purchase additional votes. These votes actually earn money for the models and photographers. Yay! On Zivity, you can see photo sets of the more gorgeous girls shot by the most kick-ass photographers. Don't be mistaken - this is NOT porn or cheesy sleazy, not by any stretch of the imagination.

Zivity’s goal is promoting female beauty, to allow each woman to shine and be glamorous.

These two photo sets will be open for public viewing for THIS WEEKEND ONLY! After that, you'll have to sign up and join in the fun to see my Zivity pics. You can access both of the photo sets from my profile page HERE.

Zivity Set Preview of Morrigan666 02

Disco Neko
Wearing super-cute pink kitty ears and bathed in vibrant colourful light, Morrigan666 strips from a corset and tutu down to nothing but a cheeky smile (and and awesome tattoo!).

Zivity Set Preview of Morrigan666 01

The White Room
Soft and pale with a minimalist setting, Morrigan666 is delightfully graceful as she poses and twirls, allowing for elegant and whimsical mid-motion captures.

Want to see more? The images here are uber-careful-work-safe previews of my recently published sets, with model Morrigan666, so you can get an idea of the style of the photo sets without having to shield the screen should your boss wander by. The photos that you can see on Zivity as a non-logged-in viewer are a little bit less work-safe (depending on where you work...hehe!) but if you join the site you'll be able to see ALL the photos. Even the super-sexy ones. Which I KNOW you want to see.
What are you waiting for? Come and hang out with me at Zivity!

a warning shot in the bathroom mirror

and you, you bitch
with your prison guard keys
you followed me home
and you spat demands
in my face

stop! fall! lie! (lie)
silent. still. (still)
breaktheunfuckingbreakable

so i shot myself
in the head
in the heart
in the mirror

lips worn pale
drinking your poison
the taste of us both
on a sliver of ice

in the head
in the heart
in the mirror

and all i can think is
i am so out of focus
i am so out of focus

--[ HELLO ]--
My photography studio is a laid-back and welcoming environment in which to create art, build your portfolio or work with clients. Most of my own work falls within non-mainstream genres, so I have a very relaxed attitude when it comes to style and subject matter.  For bookings, you can contact me at Tanya@RockstarVanity.com.

--[ PRICE ]--
The space is available for supervised* hire for £15 per hour or part thereof, or £40 for three hours. This includes use of all equipment and props.

--[ LOCATION ]--
The studio is on the South Side of Edinburgh City Centre, surrounded by pay and display parking and with a car park nearby. It is accessible 24/7 and since I'm a self-employed photographer, I can be flexible with arrangements and am happy to accomadate evening and weekend bookings.

--[ DETAILS ]--
The space is compact with a shooting area or approximately 7m x 3m, with white walls and a wooden floor (complete with paint spatters for an authentic industrial look), a curtained changing area, small bathroom and kitchenette. There is ALWAYS coffee :-)

--[ PHOTOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT ]--
- 2 x Interfit Stellar 150w flash heads with stands.
- 2 x Bowens Quad 2000 flash heads with stands.
- 2 x white shoot-through brollies.
- Beauty dish.
- HUGE soft-box.
- IR trigger and hot-shoe adapter centre (for the lights) which fit onto most dSLRs.
- Backdrops (with trains) in black, white and purple.
- Gels in a wide variety of colours.
- Tripods.

A Canon EOS 350R dSLR with 18-55mm and 50mm f1.8 lenses, Canon Speedlite 430EX flash with lead and IR shutter trigger is also available for clients who don't have access to a digital camera. The camera can shoot in RAW and JPEG. If you would like to use this camera, you will need to bring your own Compact Flash card to use as this will not be provided.

--[ PROPS ]--
The studio is home to a selection of women's clothing in sizes 8-18, various robes and drapery in fabrics ranging from crushed velvet to vinyl, and a small collection of women's shoes and boots in sizes 4-6. There is a wide range of props, including a variety of wigs, masks, medical-style accessories, horror-related things and various leather and metal bits and pieces. If you would like to ask about a specific prop, or style of prop, feel free to get in touch.

--[ OTHER PEOPLE ]--

Use of the studio does NOT include provision of a model, make-up artist, hair stylist or wardrobe stylist. You must make these arrangements yourself. If you don’t personally know anyone suitable for your shoot, networking sites such as ModelMayhem.com can be very useful.

--[ TUITION ]--

While I am more than happy to run through basic use of the lights (and camera, if you aren’t bringing your own), tuition is NOT included in the price of studio hire. If you wish to book one-on-one tuition, this will be an additional £25 per hour on top of the price of the studio hire. If you do not wish to pay for tuition but have little or no experience using a digital SLR, it is advisable that you familiarise yourself with the basics of photography and camera settings before attempting a studio shoot.

--[ PRIVACY ]--

The studio is in an ex-retail unit shared by a small group of artists, which adds to the friendly vibe, so while the shooting and changing areas are completely private, it is generally not guaranteed that no-one else will be in the building. If you are planning a shoot that you will only feel comfortable doing in complete privacy, please let me know in advance so that I can arrange a suitable time for this.

--[ NO BEGGING, PLEASE ]--

Please do not ask to use my studio for free or for less than the prices stated here. If I could afford to give freebies or cheaper hire sessions, I would. But since I can't, all requests of that nature will be denied so please don't embarrass yourself or me by asking. Thank you.

*While I am happy to help out during your shoot, I am equally as happy to stay out of your way if you feel more comfortable with that.

Some quick snaps of the studio itself. The photos OF the space aren’t quite as artistic as the photos taken IN it.

Smug Cat

Smug cat is smug. Pablo was posing for me, which he doesn't do often. I was lying on the bed reading and my camera was beside me so I quickly took some photos before my little model got bored.

This is probably the only time you'll hear/see these words from me, but the on-camera flash actually did something desirable. I do love the kitty shadow on the wall.

Sublime Rush is a magazine for independent artists, rock stars, photographers, writers, models, webmasters, mistresses, illustrators, performers, body modders, designers, musicians, tech addicts, directors, social butterflies, film-makers, publishers, pin-ups, record labels, fashionistas, distributors, promoters and digital media glitterati, to showcase your creative passion and inspire a global audience with eyes, ears and minds wide open.

Sublime Rush is exclusively web-published and the first issue, released mid-October 09, has had almost 30,000 unique pageviews from readers all over the world. You can get more information and read the magazine online at the official website, SublimeRush.com, follow us on Twitter, keep up with us on Facebook and MySpace, and submit individual images for inclusion through the Sublime Rush group on Flickr.

So you've read issue 001, hooked up with Sublime Rush online and now you'd like to contribute YOUR work to issue 002, where it will be seen by a whole heap (technical terminology) of people? Here's how...

Providing that you are OVER 18, you are welcome to contribute just about any kind of independent art-, culture- and entertainment-based content, as long as it is YOUR work and that it doesn't contain derogatory or threatening statements about individuals or groups, or encourage attacks on any person or group of people for any reason.

You should already have started promoting your own work before you ask Sublime Rush or anyone else to promote you, and you should send links to at least one (preferably more than one) place online where your work can be seen and identified as yours.

If you plan to submit photographs that you didn't take as part of your contribution (for example, models or bands), you absolutely must have permission from the photographer, and you must provide crediting information including the photographer's name, website and email address. Artists whose work has been submitted by someone else to illustrate a contribution will be contacted!

We do ask that contributions be made up of finished pieces of work, preferably as part of a collection or existing project or venture. You must be willing to talk about yourself and your work too - it's YOUR work, so you should have something to say about it!

If you would like to submit just one image without any further details, a great way to do this is through the official Sublime Rush Flickr group.

Depending on the level of interest and the amount of available time when the magazine is being put together, it may not be possible to contact unsuccessful applicants. Please be aware that magazines are often built around features, themes and concepts, so while not all contributions will be relevant at the time when they are first offered, some may be more appropriate for future issues.

At this stage in the magazine’s development, work for Sublime Rush is undertaken on a voluntary basis.

To submit your work for consideration, please email Tanya at mail@sublimerush.com

THE CONTENT DEADLINE FOR ISSUE 002 IS 30TH NOVEMBER 2009.
THE MAGAZINE WILL BE PUBLISHED IN JANUARY 2010.

Dolls and Spiders 14

Fun in the studio with models AJ and Sasha, styled by Starving Artists Creative Services. The spiders were 99p for 4 and I can never resist a creepy bargain. You can see the rest of the photos on ViolentlyBeautiful.com, here.

Spirit

I had a shoot with the lovely Morrigan last weekend and this is my favourite photo from the day. The rest of the photos are floating in the ether waiting to go live on Zivity and I'll post a link here once that happens.

Beauty 2010 Calendar Fear 2010 Calendar

Today (ok, technically it was yesterday, although it may have been after midnight) the RockstarVanity Photography 2010 Calendars are released for sale exclusively through deviantART. I would post a preview image for each of the calendars, but the photos in Lust and Evil involve omgnudity and omfgfakeblood, which would probably cause MySpace to explode. The calendars are...

Beauty: Fashion and Expressive Portraiture
Lust: Fetish, Nude and Alt Glamour Photography
Fear: Atmospheric Bloodless Horror Photography
Evil: Graphic and Gory Horror Photography

I hope everyone is having a great Halloween weekend, whether you're dressing up and going out or lounging at home watching scary movies and munching popcorn.

In the midst of the launch of Sublime Rush, everything else was put on the back-burner for a bit, but now my life, work and brain have returned to normal(ish) and I'd like to show you some of the pictures Kitty and I created in the studio recently.

Fire Kitty

That one involves super-cute heart-shaped pasties covered with rhinestones (from Ann Summers) and you can find it on Flickr and deviantART, and prints are available from Fotki and deviantART.

Morning Haze 01

That one is a preview of the Morning Haze set, now viewable on ViolentlyBeautiful.com. You can get a print of that picture here, in Fotki. There's a whole heap more alt glamour and modern pin-up prints in this folder on Fotki.
