BIGIDEAS ON THE EAST COAST COUNTDOWN

We are currently sitting in 8th place on the East Coast Countdown (http://www.eastcoastcountdown.com) with our song "Blind Eyes" with other great East Coast artists such as Hey! Rosetta, Joel Plaskett, and In Flight Safety. We need all the votes we can get to push us to number 1.  Hosted by Jimmy Inch, this is a great station strictly dedicated to east coast talent so be sure to head over and cast your vote.

BIGIDEAS ON THE RADIO

Our song "Patching Holes (In A Sinking Ship)" has been added to IndieCan radio pod cast (http://www.indiecan.com/radio.htm) based out of Toronto, Canada.  Host Joe Chisolm had some great things to say about the new record.

"In Line" will be featured on the SteamWhistle Indie podcast of the month going live tomorrow.  Go here to download the podcast for your iPod: http://www.steamwhistle.ca/unsigned/index.html

BIGIDEAS ON AUX TV

We have finished recording a new song “Set A Fire” as part of the series Master Tracks aired on Aux TV.  Producers Moe Berg and Laurence Currie were great to work with and we’re excited to share the recording process with you and the new song.

For those sick of Much Music and MTV programming this is a great alternative so please support this refreshing new music station!  (http://www.aux.tv)

SoundProof have reviewed the new album.  Check it out here or it is pasted below:
http://www.soundproofmagazine.com/Canada/Albums/Bigideas_-_Steady_State.html

SOUNDS LIKE: UK-esque, nocturnally ethereal, orchestra-backed rock from (gasp!) a Toronto band.

WHY/WHY NOT: It's good to see a
band keeping the tradition of nocturnally ethereal, orchestra-backed
rock alive. You'd think the Brits have the market cornered on this
sound – but not this time. BIGIDEAS are Canadian, and have created
music which suits me not only at 3 a.m., sitting in the dark, thinking
of ex-lovers, having a hard drink.

Toronto boys, BIGIDEAS have put out a unique gem in Steady State, and
deserve credit for their ability to move away from the mainstay indie
sound that, while we all love it so, has come to envelop their city's
music scene. This is big-stage stuff. You'll feel what I mean on the
yearningly dark "Vanishing Point" or the subterranean-yet-redemptive
"To An End". You're sure to enjoy the highly addictive "Walk Of The
Girl". With a big and lush sound, it builds into various satisfying
crescendos throughout.

If you dig the likes of Keane or Doves, then BIGIDEAS' Steady State
will float your boat. These boys already sound like they could easily
play in front of a huge stadium-packed crowd. I wouldn't be surprised
to see it happen in the near future.

We've had many compliments and questions regarding the artwork for Steady State and although we would like to leave it up to interpretation, we wanted to share some background information about the piece.  It was created by Milan

Dobrojevic, a fractal artist based the in the former Yugoslavia. Appropriately titled "Valley of Math Lines", the artwork is a vast dynamic horizon of what
seem to be random lines and shapes.

Here is a quick explanation of what fractal art is,
from Milan's
website.

"Fractal is a rough or fragmented geometric
shape, that can be divided in parts, each of which is a small-shaped copy of
the whole. They are mathematical structures known as Sierpinski triangle, Koch
snowflake, Peano curve, Mandelbrot set, Lorenz attractor... they tend sometimes
to resemble nature's creatures or shapes....coastlines resemble fractals for
instance.  Fractals also can be described
as a bond between maths and arts."
