...from the cool collaborations department:

As one of the title sponsors of this year's CMJ Music Marathon, Zune continues its focus on discovery of new artists. In addition to partnering with Xbox Live and Doritos to present showcases at the Bowery Ballroom from artists like Lykke Li, Jay Reatard and A Place to Bury Strangers, Zune is launching CMJ-themed pages on Zune Marketplace and Zune.net to give fans access to mix tapes and CMJ features.

Starting today, Zune Marketplace will feature custom CMJ mix tapes from the Zune DJs and partner music blogs like Rock Insider, Rock Sellout, Culture Bully and The Music Slut. Music fans can download the "CMJ 2008 Collection" to hear music from this year's bands or the "CMJ Rewind" for a taste of past CMJ artists, as well as subscribe to custom Channels programmed by CMJ and KEXP to get new music automatically pushed to their collection each week.

All of this content is currently available for free by downloading the Zune software. To access it, music lovers can sign up for a free 14-day Zune Pass subscription at http://www.zune.net/free, which gives fans unlimited access to millions of tracks available on Zune, including featured full-length albums by CMJ artists.

Zune will also syndicate content from several partner music blogs at www.zune.net/cmj where fans can then be linked to special blog-produced CMJ mix tapes in Zune Marketplace. In addition, Zune will launch its first ever Zune Zine, a magazine about music discovery showcasing twelve up & coming CMJ artists including Janelle Monae and Chester French. The zine will be distributed at over 300 venues in New York, Boston, and Philadelphia in addition to official CMJ venues, newsstands, and exhibition spaces. A PDF version will be available to all music fans at www.zune.net/cmj.

Click here check it all out at the Zune Marketplace.

Zune will be presenting showcases at the Bowery Ballroom all week long, featuring live performances by over 30 CMJ artists.

I met artist David Langley a few years ago when I traveled to see Big Star in St. Louis. Since then, we've become friends and collaborated on a few projects for the website. Being a collector at heart, I wanted to see what level of interest a series of limited-edition prints would generate. What you see below is the first print in what I hope will be a series of many.

The proceeds generated from the sale of the first print will be used to create the next and so on. Each new print will be introduced with a similar themed podcast. It's not very complicated, really. I'm hoping that by the time the 70s print is ready to be unveiled, David will be able to join the podcast and share his thoughts about the creation.

Until then, realize that I've seen your walls and they would certainly look much better with this print framed on them! Christmas is right around the corner as well. Unique gift for the music lover on your shopping list? Indeed! Here's how to get one before they're gone:

Size of print: 8" x 10"
Quantity available: 100
Price per print: $20.00 + $4.00 shipping for US orders.

PayPal Payments: artoflangley@gmail.com

Check or money order: David Langley

If you were making a mix for our readers, what would be the first three songs you'd select?

1. Debaser - Pixies - "because it's the perfect fucked up pop song and everyone needs to hear Black Francis scream!"

2. Dragula - Rob Zombie - "because it's almost Hallowe'en"

3. John The Revelator - Depeche Mode - "because it's proves you can stop taking drugs and still make good music..."

What do you consider the most essential album in your collection?

10,000 Days - Tool - "I can't go to sleep without listening to some of it these days"

Using lyrics from a song or two, what are some words you live by?

"I keep my dick hanging out of my pants, so I can point out what I like" from 'Hanging Out' by The Knife

"Life is a cabaret" from 'Cabaret' The Soundtrack, although I don't intend to ever end up like Liza Minnelli...

Your pick...perfect first date album or song to fall in love to?

I'm changing the question to 'perfect song to fuck too'....

South Of Heaven - Slayer

What new music are you currently listening to?

Arch Enemy, Ladytron and The Knife
