Hi everyone. Thanks so much for your ongoing support.

NEWSFLASH!!!!

I've just been informed my song "Julie Julie" is a top three finalist in the 3rd heat of the festival4stars International Song Competition in the UK!!!!!!

(Visit www.festival4stars.com for details).

This is a song comp that gets thousands of entries, and to make it this far, I've made it through three rounds of judging already.

Hey, I know its a drag when everyone wants you to vote for them ... but if you do, and I win this heat, then I get to travel to London for the finals on Nov 1. Voting is done via texting, and instructions are below .... Yeah, it costs some money (25p per text if you live in the UK). For some reason I've ended up in the "Country/Folk & World Category!

To get to the finals, 50% is done via judging (by some pretty cool celebrity judges) and 50% is via the voting. Please help! Voting finishes on the 16th of Oct.

TO VOTE FOR JULIE JULIE IN THE FESTIVAL4STARS COMP:

TEXT "FEST4 1" (yes - with the space) TO 83010 (UK RESIDENTS ONLY) AND TO +44 7523 526 864 (NON UK RESIDENTS) TEXTS COST 25P for UK residents and normal international text message rates for non UK residents. (From Australia, on an Optus mobile, this costs 50c)

FOR CHEAP SMS MESSAGING - GET SKYPE (www.skype.com) Messages cost only 13cents from Australia to the UK

Thanks heaps

Phil

We are finally all set to move house!

The move is scheduled for next Thursday (25th Jan) and we will finally be in the Hunter Valley, closer to where so much of our work is.

I shall try to remain calm and unstressed through this process!

Talk soon

Hi folks - gee wasn't I a sour puss in my last blog! We're in the middle of sorting out the car situation - not pretty

Anyway, Christmas is fast approaching, and I wanted to wish everyone who reads this a fantastic time with those you love.

Christmas is a strange festival, the church originally used these dates by sort of borrowing a pagan festival - no one really has any definite idea as to the actual birth date of Jesus. I just think it's a good thing to celebrate the birth of the most amazing person who has ever lived - and yes, I do believe he was and still is the Son of God, that he was crucified and rose again on the third day according to scripture.

It begs us to give a response doesn't it? My response is to be amazed at the fact that the divine reduced himself to the form of a man to demonstrate his love to a world that was and still is in a mess (This world desperately needs the real church - those who are true followers of Jesus Christ - to make a difference, one day at a time, until the time he decides to return and call a close to proceedings!) My response is to devote my life to him in a way that every action and thought I have brings honour to him - to the best of my ability. (As I write that I feel quite ashamed of my previous blog!)

I hope you remember that Jesus Christ was not just a baby born in a manger in a village in Israel, but he is someone who became much more than that - he still challenges and inspires us to live lives that are beyond the ordinary.

This Christmas, look past the presents, the food, the holidays, the time spent with family and friends, and spare a thought for the person who it's actually all about - Jesus. In fact, spare more than a thought - why not consider becoming a follower?

I reckon used car salesmen have been cut out of a mould - I have met heaps of them, and they are all alike. Sleazy, spinning tales (telling lies), saying anything in order to get the sale, then doing their best to get rid of you as soon as you have bought the car.

We just bought a car from a 'reputable' dealer - and have been unhappy with the overall process. We're actually happy with the car - just not the journey.

To succeed in business - you have to make two people happy, your staff, and your customers. If either are unhappy, you may as well kiss it goodnight. I make it my mission in business to have happy, satisfied customers - wherever it is reasonable and in my power to do so. It is a tragedy that not all other business people think the same.

Time is a very precious commodity. Last week I attended my friend David's funeral, and was impacted in many ways about the importance of making the most of the time that is allotted to us.

At the service they read a poem that David wrote when he was only ten years old - here it is:

What is this thing passing from breath to breath

Which is endless yet so quick?

Time. Time.

Time is a book read right to the end

Time is a tree falling to the ground

Or the earth rotating on it's axis

From Atlantic to Pacific Oceans

Time is man

From Stone to Modern Age

This is the abstract span - Time.

When I first heard the poem - I was flabbergasted that it had been written by a ten year old, and also at it's profoundness. I asked for a copy of the poem and have written some music to it, which I am thinking about adding as a track to my next solo album.

In a job, an employee has to give an account for his time that he/she has spent - ie is the employer getting good use for the money they have spent on that person?

Why should it be any different for our overall lives? Each moment given to us is a privilege and a gift. In the bible it tells us that we have to give an account for our lives - God wants to know whether the gift he has given to us has been used wisely - surely he has the right!

I welcome your comments ...

Love, Phil

Well, I am having a ball with both myspace and sellaband. I've been getting regular new investors/believers to my sellaband project, which is very encouraging.

Had another huge day today - managed to do a job for a client this morning in amazing time - I listened to the original track, wrote a chart, programmed drums, piano, played live bass, played strings, mixed, mastered and burnt the track onto CD in 1 hour and 10 minutes!

Then I worked with Peter from Turn Around for the rest of the day - did preproduction on four tracks for a client of his called Kiera Connelly - she's signed to Sony BMG.

Last night I finished Kristy James' first track - "All Alone" - she's already got it up on sellaband - I told her about it - that's so cool!!!! Go for it Kristy!

Tomorrow I gotta do pilot vocals for all of the tracks I did today for Turn Around, mp3 them and send them to Pete, then do more editing for Wild Rose. Teaching in the afternoon.

Helen - my sister in law - arrives tomorrow for a quick visit - can't wait for them to move down here

Talk soon ...
