hey everyone,

gearing up for the festival... grant from (VxPxC) was out this weekend, ironing out some details and just hanging out.  exhausting but awesome, and despite all that we've managed to drop these sonic gondolas:

foxglove152: valerio cosi "and the spiritual committee" cd-r
italian galactico valerio cosi returns with his second album for foxglove, and raises the stakes considerably.  he bends his saxophone into a glistening array of aural armaments, channeling the ghosts of giants, these spaced-out, eastern-infused missives.  cosi is master and bending tones and meshing multiple instruments and styles into a cohesive unit.  layers of guitars, horns, percussion, and more create everything from whimsical pop to sprawling, esoteric drone.  "the spiritual committee" is the perfect homage to the roman gods of yore.

foxglove153: bjerga/iversen "hijacked frequencies" cd-r
the norwegian duo of jan m. iversen and sindre bjerga has been as prolific as anyone in the two years since we first released an album of theirs.  but it's still cold in norway, and bjerga/iversen are still traversing the glacial world of dense, sprawling drones.  "hijacked frequencies" digs deep through skin and bone and finds a home deep inside the crevices of your skull.  this will satiate your need for delicious, delicious sludge.

foxglove154: wooden spoon 2
it's been a banner period since we last heard from the multi-talented owen hills (aka wooden spoon).  after a couple releases (vinyl and CD) on the excellent bo weavil imprint, wooden spoon is back with another new offering on foxglove.  running the myriad of acoustic guitar transgressions, hills is an original voice in a crowded field.  wooden spoon 2 mixes things up like its predecessor, setting banjos and pianos afire in the process.  these folk-infused instrumentals are the dawn of a new day, cut fresh from the branches.

foxglove155: aan "elaman kevät"
"elaman kevät" is the second album from the finnish duo of uton and kulkiya.  it doesn't get much better than these two when it comes to organic finnish psychedelia, and "elaman kevät" is certainly no exception.  aan combines elements of both solo projects to perfection.  these barren soundscapes leave a lot of room for growth.  the listener is called into action to fill in the blanks, and the effect is magical.  aan invoke subtle waves of mind-bending, soul-snatching drone.  while the surface of "elaman kevät" may appear calm, underneath a cacaphonous world is bubbling away.

foxglove156: chainsaw paws "this light"
tennessee's chainsaw paws come at you from a million different directions.  after a release on alamagator (not to mention numerous offshoots like broken tape choir, beesty, mild red sorrow, and more), "this light" is the bands most fully-realized album.  deconstructed, whimsical pop with hooks galore build around varying stringed instruments, vocals, and percussion that, at times, brings to mind groups like animal collective.  but this is catchy, surreal, and psychedelic all wrapped into one tight little ball. delightful in every way.

foxglove157: altar of flies "trapped under water"
altar of flies hails from the snowy world of mjölby, sweden.  this moniker of mattias gustafsson (not to be confused with the broken face's mats gustafsson, or the saxophonist of the same name), and throughout "trapped under watter," this swede swims in metallic waves of ecstatic drones.  gustaffson concocts washes of noise and feedback and bends them into shape, stretching the limits of each stolen note.  this music is as thick like syrup, and just as fucken sweet. packaged in covers designed by the always impressive mattias frisk.

as always, they're $7PPD (worldwide) each and limited to 100 copies.  if you want all 6, they're available for $36 PPD (worldwide) which can be paypalled directly to me - brad@digitalisindustries.com.  awesome.

more fest news soon...

coming up soon on digitalis... CDs from warmth (formerly roxanne jean polise - a reissue of his killer audiobot cd-r from 2005) and microblind harvestmen (robert horton + gifthorse's hal hughes).  also, the arts & crafts editions will be underway in the coming months... the first four releases (which won't happen at once, but between now and fall-ish) are from WOLFMANGLER, turner cody, ilyas ahmed, & xela.  gonna be killer...

much love,
