it is with great sadness that we come to tell you that after nearly 3 years The American Economy is calling it quits. We've had a great long run and have played many shows in many places but we're happy it worked out that we're returning to one of our favorite places on the planet, Devil's Canyon Brewery to play Beer Friday one last time. This time with friends Seconds On End. its free, its all ages (w/parent or guardian), great people, great music, great beer + great times. bring friends, family, dogs and your dancing shoes. If you've been before and you have a DCBC pint glass, bring it. not only will you be uber-ultra eco-friendly but you'll save 4 bucks as well. We thank all of you that have lovingly supported us over the years. we hope you'll make it out this Friday to come and say "fare thee well" to San Francisco's only unique original "post-indie" jam band. we'll see you out there again one day as we all pursue other musical endeavors as well.

All men dream: but not equally

Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake up in the day to find it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.

~ T.E. Lawrence

This was taken from his book "Seven Pillars Of Wisdom"

Remember how Dr.Seuss would always say things like "You are well on your way" in his books + how we felt excited + inspired as kids? well, it was because he never really gave a destination. I think that was the whole point of it! the excitement of the very journey. if we only concentrate on the destination then its only about what are we gonna do when we get there. it never really has to end. we are all always well on our way. ride on forever!

There is of course a time + place for everything, but by all means, promote daydreaming!. it is healthy. who was the #1 daydreamer? Albert Einstein. He made out alright..... Take the time, set it aside + dream dream dream.

Keep shinin'

peace + love

now I will walk through the flowers, and listen to the rain

and comfort those who are feeling pain

why do we feel the need to say so much?

to leave our hearts to bleed

are we scared to reach out and touch?

and it seems that the more that we say, the less we know

and the more that we listen, the more we can learn

and we already know

that we can communicate without talking, and just go with the flow

for I am your friend, and I am your brother

I can guide you like a father, and love and care like any other

if we could just stop judging and truly look within

and just take our time, we'll find that we've been

living too fast and missing the point

beauty lasts more than five minutes, and the love was always there

so if we could just take people from the root of their intention

and not judge from afar

we'd learn that they're good inside

gentle and peaceful is the human face

when we've finally ascended to that beautiful place. . . .

You sit here for days saying, This is strange business.

You're the strange business. You have the energy of the sun in you, but you keep knotting it up at the base of your spine.

You're some weird kind of gold that wants to stay melted in the furnace, so you won't have to become coins.

Say ONE in your lonesome house. Loving all the rest is hiding inside a lie.

You've gotten drunk on so many kinds of wine. Taste this. It won't make you wild. It's fire. Give up, if you don't understand by this time that your living is firewood.

This wave of talking builds. Better we should not speak, but let it grow within.

-Jelaluddin Rumi
