Hello friends!

I am working diligently on a new art project that will take some time to complete. I'll be sure to give you all sneak peeks as I work.

I've been working a lot on the other half of my business recently, taking my vinyl decals to different conventions and shows in Texas. I've got a lot of new decal designs, and have been restructuring my entire vinyl shop. I'd love to hear your comments, suggestions or requests for new designs!

Also, be sure to come by and see all of the new vinyl goodies I've got.

My new painting is finally finished and listed on Etsy! It's been so long since I've been able to finish anything, since life has dished me up a good deal of crazy these past few months. This was something I started the other day in an attempt to get back on track, and I was so entranced by the image that started to develop under my hands that I felt completely revitalized. I think I'm finally getting my art mojo back ;)

This painting is available through my Etsy shop as an 8x10 print. The original is also available unframed for $300 OBO. It's inkwash and watercolor on watercolor paper. (The original measures 9x12).

Check it out!

Please note that these FAQ's are questions that I have seen asked and answered on several other fantasy artists' websites. As questions get asked, I will update the FAQ, so keep an eye open for changes!

How can I purcahse your original paintings online?
I do not list my original paintings for sale online, since I carry them to shows with me. However, if you would like to own one of my originals, you're welcome to E-mail me and inquire about its availability. You can message me through Myspace, or E-mail me at battlemaidenart@yahoo.com

How can I purchase your prints online?

All prints that I have currently available for sale are listed on my Etsy page found here. You can subscribe to my blog where I will post links to all of my artwork as it becomes available.

How do you create your reproduction prints?
My prints are created on my Canon PixmaPro9000 professional printer. They are on quality photo paper, and printed with dye based inks that should last, with proper care, 100 years.

How long will it take you to ship my purchase?
I never ship orders until payment has been processed by my bank. I make trips to the post office every Friday, and will ship all orders that have cleared by Thursday night. If your order clears on Friday, it will not be shipped until the following week. If you have an order that must be rushed, please let me know before hand so that appropriate adjustments to the shipping cost and my schedule can be made.

Can I use your image on the internet?
There are some cases that I do allow my images to be used on the internet. You may post my image on your myspace page, use it as a background, etc... as long as you do not alter it in any way, and provide a link back to my shop or credit "Valorie of Battlemaiden Studio" on your page. All watermarks must be left in tact. You may also use my images as icons on Myspace and Live Journal, and trim them down to the desired size, as long as the art itself is not altered in any way and credit is given.

If I buy an image, can I claim it as my own or reproduce it?
No. All of my art is copyright Valorie and Battle Maiden Studio, and may not be used, altered, reproduced, or sold in any way. This includes original artwork and commissions; I still retain all rights to the image and may reproduce it and sell it. You legally may only resale an unaltered piece of art that you have legally purchased from me. I will sell reproduction rights to my artwork for use in books, please contact me for information. If you find anyone in violation of my reproduction policy, please write and let me know.

May I link to your website?
Yes you may!

Do you take commissions?
Please keep in mind that commissioned pieces are priced on a piece by piece basis, and several factors will be taken into account during the pricing process. Commissioned pieces take time to complete, so please allow at least six weeks for completion of the piece. If you need a piece sooner than that, include the date at the beginning of the request, and I will let you know if this is possible. All rush requests will increase the cost of the commission.
I will only take commissions on a case by case basis. Please do not be offended if I do not accept your request. If you're interested in having me draw your character contact me with the following information: Detailed description of the character, if you have a pose in mind include that, and links to several reference pictures of specialized costuming, weaponry, etc… I am far more likely to accept your request if reading your message doesn't make my eyes bleed.
If I accept your request we will first discuss the basics and settle on a cost. I will then contact you with several thumbnail pictures and concept sketches to get your input. We'll work together on the sketches until we're both satisfied, then payment will be due in full, and inking will begin. Once I begin inking an image, no changes can be made, and all inkwork is final. When I've completed the piece, you will receive all sketches that were done to create the piece, and the original artwork. Please realize that I will retain all rights to the image, and will release reproduction prints of the image, and may release it in any other form that I choose unless otherwise negotiated. The character is still yours, but commissioning a piece does not give you the right to reproduce it in any way (that means no using it on the cover of your book, on T-shirts, etc…). If you would like to purchase the rights to reproduce the artwork, let me know and we will work that out. If you would like to commission me for an original piece and ask that I do not sell reproductions of it, that can also be arraigned, but please note that such a request will greatly increase the cost of the project to compensate for my potential profit loss.

I've been moving into my new studio, unpacking, organizing, and getting ready to get back to work. I was shifting through my boxes, an lo and behold there were the coloring books I had made up before the move! I had completely forgotten to list them, so I took care of that today. These are really neat. It's the start to all of my paintings, the inked lineart, printed out on a beautiful vellum paper ready for you to add your own artistic touch.

Check them out!

These were designed for Grown Ups (Adult Coloring Books seemed to give the wrong idea...) with lots of detailing, and attention paid to the quality of the materials. They're a perfectly frameable 8x10, printed on 8.5"x11" vellum cardstock that is perfect for colored pencils, crayons, and markers. I happily offer discounts for orders of 10 or more, so contact me for details!

Check out one of the pages:

Cinderella

Every part of the illustration was designed to tell as much of the story as possible. The frames give details while the center panel captures a moment of transformation or discovery for the main character.

I had so much fun making these, I can't wait to work on more! What themes would you like to see? Be sure to let me know!

Hello again! AggieCon was wonderful this weekend, and several of my paintings found themselves new homes.

One particular painting that came back home with me, I’d really love to find a good home for. Ravens Land is here in my living room, in her beautiful black frame, looking at me with those big blue eyes. This is a sizeable piece, and would really make a great addition to your collection. Who ever buys this piece will get several fun freebies!

You can find the listing here:
