Friendrade-

The musical collective known as "Great Glass Elevator" is currently non-functional.  The birth of the Great Glass World Order (see below) has proven much more important to the overall mission.  Secret Plan (see below) is in progress.  Stay alert.  Watch video.  Wash brain.

Signed,

The G.G.W.O.

One Night ONLY.

It's cheap as free and we are headlining so we would love to see all of your shining faces (provided they are 21+ or you have a shining forgery of an I.D. card) there.  Info in our 'shows' section.  The future of GGE is about as certain as the American Economy right now...  could boom, could crash, but you better get it while it's hot in case it's your last chance!

PS - A grand apology and thanks for your patience with the iTunes release of our album (it's been close to a year now, we know!)  We are trying to shoot a music video to bundle with it when the time finally comes.  See you at the Detroit Bar!

The end of the decade is about to begin!  We have posted our last new song, "Uzumaki," the first track on the full length and the very most recent song that we have written and recorded together.  Please enjoy the music.  iTunes is just around the corner.

Hello, one and all!  The hypothetical clog is dissolving!

We collectively apologize for our continued absence over the past several months... Many, many things have come to pass, but those are others stories and shall be told a different time.  The gears of the elevator are still in motion, albeit SLOW motion, and here is what is going on:

1.)  The finishing touches are at last being placed on the album and it's accompanying artwork, and it will be on itunes for your full quality downloading pleasure in the very near future.

2.) A show is in the works.  We have no idea when, where, or what kind, but it IS in the works, and ideally will be a free event where we will all be able to socialize, and all questions can at last be answered.

3.) A new song is posted.  Please enjoy "Idea Eleven," currently occupying the top spot on our myspace playlist.

4.) You need to read "The Neverending Story" as soon as possible.  Movie doesn't count until you have read the book.

I have already said too much!  We hope that you and your kin have had a wonderful 2008, and wish you the best of times in the holidays to come.

Sincerely,

David, Ezra, Barrett, Josh and Matt
A.K.A.G.G.E.

Idea Eleven:
Drive into the night
The sewer down below is filled with sunlight
Sound born in your brain
Is down, down, down in the storm drain
Keep your ear pressed to the asphalt
Quiet now, quiet now, quiet now
Have you heard the sound of the thunderstorm brewing under the ground?
In perfect time the figures rise
The furnace shivers off it's size
From windows where the sunset sleeps
The candles blink between the black sheets

No, the title of this blog does not imply that Andrew is back in the band.

Hola, pelones.  I think that means baldies, hope it's nothing too terribly offensive.  Conjetta is up!  It's our longest, screamiest, newsiest song that we have ever released.  And the most recent one that we have written together.  A bit of a departure, do you like this color of the Ascensor Grande de Cristal?

We're keepin' the new jams coming up until the release date draws nigh.  Go swimming and see WALL-E today.

Hello again! This is David speaking.

I've been asked a few times to put up the lyrics to the new songs, and one of the most common questions I am asked in regards to the band is, "What the devil are your lyrics about?" I have therefore decided to post them in a blog with a brief description of the subject matter of each song and leave the comments open to any questions that you might have. And please, let us know if you are enjoying the new music!

1. The Claws of Gravity - I wrote these lyrics after an experience I had coming face to face with a large lemon shark (known to be agressive to humans!) while snorkeling alone in the Virgin Islands. I know this sounds made up but it is not. The first lines are about one of my favorite things to do late at night: Lie face up on a driveway, stare at the sky, think about your position on the earth in relation to a globe, and wonder about the forces that are keeping you from sliding off into space. The song is about the overwhelming mystery of life on earth.

Lay me down against the asphalt
Blue eyes facing black and white
The claws of gravity steal my sanity
Madman wailing at the night
Grey clouds crack, the wind's awoken
Hurts these eyelids (open up)
Ocean's cold, my bones are broken
All around the world I'm falling down again
Dead man's float atop the ocean
Pale skin! The blue! The boat!
The creatures under me steal my sanity
The captain won't throw me the rope
Follow that sound and I'll come back down from paradise
Follow that sound and I'll come back down--the battle cry

2. Hey Ladies! - There seems to be a lot of talk about suicide floating around the media these days. This song is meant to be a warning from one friend to another: If you ever kill yourself, I will haunt you where ever you end up forever. Guest vocals are provided by our friend and rapper extraordinare, Warbux of Conjob.

Hey ladies! Hello, ladies! Ooh la la, ladies!
Damn that diamond ring you're wearing 'round your neck.
Why can't you see you were the only one for me?
Barren bride to be. Warbux: Your eyes are suicidal. See, your tendencies are my rival. Finally meet your killer angel. You've been looking strange from my angle. You say you want to do it? Go ahead girl - make it happen, but this is not your number. Practice patience.
So I spun the car around with a horrible sound
She wailed, "Stop! Stop! Stop! Turn around right now!"
Shut your evil eyes--you're staring.
Barren bride to be.
Lady run, run, your mouth's dripping cyanide
Lady run, run, too young for the other side
I'll be your sky stalker; a killer angel
Where do you run when the sun goes down?
Disguised my frown with flashing teeth
I said, "What you see is what you get."
Burn that diamond devil island
Before it wets your neck
And I'll never come down.
And I'll never waste my time away.

3. Dancing With Werewolves - This stong still has no official title, so we named it on suggestion from our friend Mike, who some of you may recognize as the dancing werewolf who joined us onstage when we played this song on tour. It's about having a terrible day in Southern California and realizing (when put in proper perspective) that there really isn't much room for anything to boo-hoo about when you live in our magic kingdom.

Some days I wake and hate my face
It's such a disgrace when you remember...
We live in Southern California, not Auschwitz
Now I feel like such a selfish bastard.
I am a clock with human hands,
And I spend most my days in melancholia.
I tip the hourglass and watch the sand drip down
To form a beach where my life should have been.
Well, I'm here--I've watched your fear grow. (Broken noise)
The world needs a tragic hero. (Broken voice)
False teeth and inhibition--
Get 'em out of me and I'll start being honest with you.
The words I say are true, but you don't wanna know.
Some nights I stare out into space
And you'd be amazed--I see a mirror.
I use my fingers to trace constellations...
I'm so vain I wish the sky were clearer.
I am a god in my own eyes
And I spend most my days deluded in my world.
My superego fills the sky sometimes
Until the clouds reduce me to my Id.
But you don't wanna know--
And I don't blame you.

4. The Spider, the Snake and the Fly - I can't quite explain what this song is about... but it involves animals and manipulated matter.

He enters the room with a smile on his face
The spider, the fly and the snake.
He enters the room, tips his hat and he states,
He says, "You will be my dinner tonight."
He says, "Welcome to the room. Welcome to what we do."
I'll break down the metropolis,
And all of us you found so deadly
Break down the metropolis (now),
and all the lust you found so deadly.
He enters the room with a smirk in his eye
The spider, the snake and the fly.
He exits the room. Now the room's paralyzed.
He says, "Hey, snake--you'll be my dinner."
Stay tonight. I don't know who's to blame.

We can't wait to release the album to you as a whole next month, but in the meantime we will continue to put new songs up for your streaming enjoyment. This coming weekend we are going to put up one of the softer songs on the record, "Put Me Back Together," and the weekend after we will debut one of our 2 newest songs, the spastic doo-wop rocker (as well as the longest song we've ever written), "Conjetta." Here's a video preview with a 30 second clip of the latter. Con appetit!

Greetings, weary Myspace traveler!

We have put yet another track from our new full-length, "Metropolis" up, a Police/BeeGees/JeeJeeEee inspired jam titled "The Claws of Gravity," which is all about being completely stupefied by the operations of nature, with the second verse placing specific emphasis on an experience I had coming face to face with a lemon shark while snorkeling in the Virgin Islands last summer.

And yes, the voting madness is thrusting on!  It appears that you are now able to vote all the way through Sunday the TWENTY-SECOND of June, so please keep up the incredible continued support!  We want Lynyrd Skynyrd so bad, we can TASTE them.  That sounds awful.  We just want to play the show.

*UPDATE*  It seems voting did indeed end on the 15th and there was a typo on the banner.  We didn't get to to taste them, but we are still giving you another taste of our upcoming full-length, Metropolis.  Album will be up on iTunes next month - how are you enjoying the preview songs so far?

You may be thinking, "Hey wait a minute, Hey Ladies! never left." But in reality, there was a small amount of time in which I took down the old version of the song and put up the new that left the world without Hey Ladies! You may not have noticed it, but I surely did.

"Well, what is the reason for this change?"

Well internet people, that is why I'm writing this.

Here's the deal: while we were recording Metropolis, we intermingled with a band named Conjob, who shared the same producer as us. Amongst their members is a B.A. MC known as Warbux. Word is that when he heard Hey Ladies!, not only did he like it, but he wanted to rap over it. We were pretty excited when we heard that, and even more excited when we heard the finished product. So go give Hey Ladies! a listen and let us know what you think. And to familiarize you with some of Warbux's work, I'll leave you with this:
