Team Wins In Andover

First we would like to thank Andover for inviting us to their show. Out of all the smokers we have been to, this is the first that had 34 bouts, and they was all good fights, excellent Show.

1st out was "Mamo Tello" fighting a kid from OKC, OK. 1st round out  we threw too many combinations, and too much pressure and dominated the round. 2nd round, same work but was more then he could take, with a 2nd round TKO. Great job Mamo.

2nd out was "Cesar Angelas" fighting a kid from Wichita, KS. 1st round, Cesar's head gear came down over his face, and the ref. gave him a 8 count, but we won the round anyway. 2nd round, we got dropped, but come back so strong with forward action, and kept the punches going, it was our round,"Whew!" 3rd round, we went out strong and from the bell, dominated and almost stoped him, and it was ours. Good come back Cesar.

3rd out was "Lalo Tello" fighting a kid from Wichita, KS. 1st round Lalo was on him just like Coach said, push him back and keep the punches going. Our round. 2nd round, same as the first but more body to head work, great round. all ours. 3rd round, all the force was forward, nonstop punches to win the fight, Great job Lalo, and by the way Happy Birthday.

Thank you to Andover for a good show, hope you invite us back.
                                                  Good Job Team.

Markas, Boyd, and Antony at VooDoo Lounge
Friday, Feb. 6th. at the Voodoo Lounge, 3 step in the ring and receive 2 TKO's and 1 loss.

The 1st fight out was Markas Gonzales vs Lonnie Mabin, Making a short story of this, our goal was to come in at 175lbs for this fight. And with lots of training and self discipline we made 174lbs at the weigh Ins. (well done).         The bell rings and we are out boxing, with some jabbing, slicing and moving to deliver body shots. Putting our opponent down 2 times, with a 3rd time being a stoppage. "What a nice job"

The 2nd fight out was Boyd Henley vs Joey Wiles, with making the weight of 145lbs at weigh Ins, we again was under the 147lbs mark,(well done).         With no time to warm Boyd up, being the 2nd fight out, we're off to the ring.     I'll give you some back ground on our opponent, On his pro debut his faced a 5-0 record and Joey stopped him in the 1st round, so we knew we were in with a puncher. With Boyd glaring across the ring, the bell rings and as you know if you take two pit bulls to a fight, you had well be prepared for a fight. Both meeting in the middle of the ring, the shots start firing, Joey was the first to get the hard punch in, and then another, Boyd with his good condition was able to take the punches, both shooting hard punches and none stop action, the tide changes Boyd backing him into the ropes and Joey goes down, with a 8 count the fight starts again, Boyd back working the body, and such pretty movement, was just too fast and taking him to the corner none stop punches, Joey is down again, looking in none belief Joey gives a noble effort and comes after Boyd backing him on the ropes,a head butt leaves Boyd with a cut above his right eye, but with Boyds slick movement and and punching power he sends Joey to the corner again for the stoppage. Boyd gets a 1st round TKO. (Good Work)

Antony Nelson vs Robbie Cannon was the Main Event, with the weigh In weight of 135lbs Antony weighs in at 133lbs again (well done) I'll give some background on this fight, Antony has fought Robbie before but we were stopped in the 2nd round from no shape, but had dropped him in the 1st round, so with hard training and conditioning we should have the fight. So the 1st round bell rings and the jabs, body shots, are working just right, with winning the 1st round. 2nd round was the same work with Robbies face showing the work of Antony, 2nd round ours. 3rd round Antony starts out strong tappers off towards the end of the round, but was close. 4th round was all Robbie just more active.    5th round Robbie starts strong to fade with Antony coming back in the middle round, and both finish strong, 6th and final round, Punches thrown from both, but backing him on the rope and then him backing us on ropes it was a close round. Antony looses with a UD. Keep you head up Antony, You made Authentic Proud, Its not always about the win, it's how you handle a loss, and learn from it , and Antony you passed that test. (Great Work)

First out was "Ruben Calderon" in the 1st round Ruben gets knocked down, but gets up and ends the round strong. 2nd. round starts with Ruben bobbing and weaving and landing hard right hands and left hooks to the body, Ref has no choice but to stop the fight.Ruben shows what an Authentic fighter is all about(NEVER GIVE UP)

Second out was Melisenda"9-Mili" Perez. In with a tough and determined girl, Meli sticks the jab, boxing and showing angles. Meli starts putting her combinations together and was just too much for her opponent. Meli leaves the Refree no choise but to stop the fight.

Third out was Antony"Strickly Business" Nelson. Antony drew another tough guy that came with the intention to knock us out in the first round. Rather then skate and box, Antony chose to meet fire with fire! Antony used his tight defense and good head movement to make the guy miss most every shot. Then Antony started tracking him down behind a shotgun jab and started closing up into the pocket. Once he got into the pocket, he started landing his power shots, and showed his skills, first knocking his opponents mouthpiece out and then finding him hard with the right hand. The bell rang as Antony was stopping him, saving him in that round. The corner decided he had enough and chose not to send him out in the next round.

GREAT JOB TEAM AUTHENTIC lets get ready for our next fight.

Wendel "Boyd" Henley vs Dustin Huitt-Johnson

On the Morning of 7/18/08 Coach received a call for a 153 lb. fighter for a 6 rd. fight on the St. Joe Fox Sports Fight on 7/19/08. Getting ahold of Boyd Henley he agrees excitely on the fight. With having to get blood work and loose 5 lbs. by 4:30 to make the weight ins at 6:00. Making the weight at official weight ins, their off in a Limo to the Public weight ins, With cameras and interviews to end the Night well.

Night of the Fight was here, Boyd dressed and ready for business. With total confidence it was time for the 7th Bout. We walk out first, then Johnson. The Announcer anounces Boyd's name (He received Two cheers) (Coaches & Mine)! With the Announcer calling out Johnsons name (The Arena erupts).

The Bell Rings

1st Round: Too Intense, Too Clean, Too much Pressure!

                       "BOYD MADE A STATEMENT"

2nd. Round: More of the same Pressure, Slipping, Went intensely to the body.

                        "HUGE ROUND FOR BOYD"

3rd. Round: Back and forth with Johnson maybe winning first of the round, Johnson receives a cut, Boyd turnes it on, Knocks mouthpiece out .Boyd finishes round strong.

4th. Round: With both tired, but still throwing, and making it a good fight, Boyd has a little more to give. (Conditioning) Boyd knocks Johnson down with a left  hook.

                          "VERY GOOD ROUND FOR BOYD"

5th.Round: With Punching non stop Rope to Rope, Corner to Corner, Boyd puts Johnson down with a left hook  followed by a stright right hand , Johnson goes down hard .  Even with Announcer trying to get the croud to motivate for Johnson we were still too strong. Putting him  down with a right faint, followed by a strong left hook ,  And Johnson is down for the count. 2:20 sec.   In the  5th Round.

 "BOYD WINS BY KO"

"Alan Soltero" Wins Big in Two Events

Team goes to Pattonsburg, Mo. 6 Enter (5 win) on 7/11/08. also Team went to Topeka, KS. on 7/12/08 2 out of 2 win. Great Job Team.

The main story is on Alan Soltero who fought both nights, On the first night in Pattonsburg MO. Alan fought St.Joe's tough Tommy Huitt Johnson who has won several tournaments, Alan won the rounds, with skill and conditioning. "Good Job"

Then the team went to Topeka KS. With just fighting the night before Alan was rearing to go, showing up early at the gym. On this fight there is some background, Alan is matched to fight Jorge Hernandez who we had fought and lost to in the Golden Gloves tournament. So going into this fight we knew it was going to be tough, In the first round it was close but we won, In the second round we got it big, but as you know in a hometown (you dont know), In the Third round it was Alan all the way "with almost a stopage".

"Alan" You made Coach Larry Edgar and Team Authentic Proud.

 "GREAT JOB"

*********10/12/07 FIGHT UPDATE***********

Authentic Accepts Defeat, No Excuses!

Camera lights flashing, video rolling, this is fight night in San Juan, Puerto Rico Friday October 12, 2007. The main event, Bulmaro "Junior" Solis vs. Alex "El Pollo" De Jesus, this event was to be broadcast live through Telefutura's Solo Boxeo. This was Junior Solis's Televison debut.

This Night held Action, Curiosity and Plenty of Controversy.

The action took place both in and out of the ring. Authentic Coach and Fighter, Larry Edgar and Junior Solis, both were very captivated by the beauty of San Juan. They realized soon Puerto Rico means business when it comes to Boxing. As soon as arriving to San Juan they had to get in sync with the island and what the natives had in store for them. This was a long week of training along with large amounts of media and press coverage. It was quite obvious people were ready and anxious to see this fight take place.

The press couldn't take their eyes off of Junior Solis. The real question, was peoples curiosity… Who is Bulmaro "Junior" Solis? Solis (a Mexican American) was born in Dallas Texas, and raised in Kansas City. KC is where he has become known as a local young, talented, and aggressive fighter.

I'm sure Junior's charisma and charm kept feeding the hungry press as they eventually sought out more interviews and photographs.

Solis and Edgar came prepared, No question about it, Victory was theirs, so they thought. Little did they know all the controversy they were soon to become a part of. Alex "El Pollo" De Jesus, Solis's opponent, has had a dire reputation of not making weight for fights. He had been suspended in the past and reprimanded on several occasions for not living up to his contract. Nothing new for the De Jesus team, but unexpected for Authentic. The question soon became whether or not to continue with this match. Solis did come a couple pounds under weight and De Jesus several pounds over weight, making this match almost but impossible. Solis and Edgar made it quite clear they were there to fight, (despite all the controversy) they gave De Jesus the opportunity to come down in weight. Solis and Edgar did eventually accept the fight, though many would have advised them not to do so. " We have no regrets, we would have rather fought, than wonder what would have happened." said Edgar when asked about this fight. "Junior was more than ready, he wasn't there to loose." he said further.

The main event of the night, (finally in spite of all the issues that had taken place back stage), the Fight was On, and Solis was Ready!

As both fighters stepped into the ring you could see the confidence just radiating off Solis. He was coming to win regardless of the circumstances!

Bell rings, first round, Solis carries out his attack, coming forward at all times, Solis clearly seemed dominant in the first round. As the rounds progressed De Jesus slowly started unleashing his counter attack against Solis. ( Watching this fight as it took place, you can see an obvious size difference).

At this point every punch De Jesus landed had an effect on Solis. As the 4th round came, Solis got in trouble, Solis dropped his left hand for a split second giving De Jesus the opportunity to catch Solis with a right hook. This was a dangerous right hook which ended up knocking Solis to the floor. The ref gave Solis an 8 count, Solis nodded to continue. By this point De Jesus came full force and to an unstable Solis who was having problems recovering from the right hook knock down, De Jesus came after Solis with blow after blow, Solis's hands slowly began dropping leaving him exposed and soon after the ref waved the fight off, determining Solis no longer able to continue. Solis tried to stay in, motioning he was alright, but as fast as he got knocked down the first time… it was already over.

"We accept the loss, No excuses! He had more experience and he was better than us." said Edgar, Solis's Trainer, when asked what he thought. When asked about the controversy surrounding this uneven match up… he stated, "It wouldn't have mattered whether he was under or overweight … He would have still got us with that right hook!", "We should have had a tighter defense!" Edgar exclaimed. This fight left Edgar and Solis with an unforgettable experience and a new lesson to learn from.

It might have been a hard blow that knocked Solis down, but it's not a hard enough blow to keep him down, he will keep moving forward. "They just through a pit-bull a steak!" said Solis with a smile when we saw him the day after the fight. He clearly plans on pushing forward, he might have not won this battle but he plans on wining the rest!

"We're coming for the Victory, so be prepared to Fight!" - ABC

Junior Goes to Puerto Rico!

"I FEEL FINE, I FEEL STRONG, I'M READY! " - Junior Solis

In less than 24 hours Bulmaro "Junior" Solis will face off against opponent Alex "El Pollo" de Jesus in San Juan Puerto Rico at the Pedrin Zorrilla Coliseum on Friday October 12, 2007.

Since arriving on Tuesday afternoon to San Juan, the Coach (Larry Edgar), his assistant (Leann Edgar) and Authentic Boxer, Junior Solis, have been working non-stop. In between press conferences, training, television, paper and radio interviews, Authentic has been able to catch glimpse of this Island they call "Island of Enchantment", and according to them it is truly living up to it's name. The views a very captivating, the people are overly friendly and boxing is serious business.

As everyone here on Team Authentic knows Junior has been training hard alongside his teammates, not only for this fight, but for this very opportunity, an opportunity that can alter his future in boxing, Big! What boxer doesn't dream about being a World Champion? Isn't that the ultimate goal!? Junior is a talented young man, who truly throws his heart in it (not to mention a mean right hook), he's got speed, strength, determination, but above all Faith! Two things are for certain, he's going to give it his all, and whether he comes home with a "W" or a "L" he will only push himself harder to continue on to the next level. What an Experience!

As we mentioned earlier Boxing in Puerto Rico is serious Business. You can come across a slew full of news articles on the internet as this fight gets close. The downside unless your second language just happens to be Spanish the articles need to be translated… (sorry to much for us to do). If you would like to view some of the articles anyway or check out the pictures here are some recent links:

***UPDATE***

Authentic and Antony Nelson arrive in Las Vegas Ready to take care of business.  Just like any regular pre-show jitters, Antony was ready to go, confident he was in Las Vegas for a win.

Things started out really great for Antony, confident he came out swinging holding nothing back! Caught his opponent a couple times in the first round making this match up pretty entertaining.

Second round bell, Antony still stepping up, there was a flaw in his plan though ... lots of power in the 1st and 2nd round left us wondering perhaps too much too soon?

Third round Antony's steam was running out fast!! He got stopped in the 3rd on a TKO.

Too much too fast just got the best of him, perhaps a little more work and he Will Be Unstoppable!

Good to have you all home!!

We'll see you in the ring!
