Hello all!
Just a quick note to mention that the new album 'Dying Days' is pressed up and ready to go and will be available through Amazon and iTunes in due course! I'm really excited to have the finished article in front of me at last after what seems like an eternity of waiting. Will update things again very soon when I have more info.

Hello again!
Another year rolls on like a bloody steam train, leaving 2008 behind like a distant, blurred memory! But, at least I can report that the album 'Dying Days' is finally being pressed having been mastered by Phil Kerby at Gone Platinum, and should be available to buy or download very soon. The CD is being released through Madman Records, catalogue number MAMA023, and will be available to buy through Amazon and eventually iTunes, though that may take a little longer to get sorted out. So, the finishing line is in sight, and after more than 4 years of writing, recording, re-recording and numerous delays (through lack of time, money, interest etc) I will have got this album out to a, largely, unsuspecting world. I just hope some of you like it after all that! Next will be the job of promoting the thing which will hopefully lead to some shows later in the year, though as I've mentioned before, this could be a bit of a mountain to climb in itself. But, as you should have guessed by now, if nothing else I am relentless and unswerving in my efforts to make this happen - well it keeps me off the streets anyway!
Thanks again to those that are sticking with me on this mad little journey, I neither expect or feel I deserve such loyalty - hopefully I won't disappoint.
Cheers for now!

Current mood:  confident

25th August 2008

Blimey, is it really August of 2008? I'd only just got used to the idea that it was 2008 at all, and now most of it has gone!! Anyway...

So here we are at the end of another crap British summer, however, I'm pleased, proud and relieved to report that the Carbon Soul album has at last been completed. (God, I never though I'd actually get to write those words!) Jim Hartley has worked his little butt off to get the mixes finished prior to his trip to the U, S of A at the beginning of September, and we now have the finished mixes ready for mastering and then eventually releasing (possibly through Tin Toy, but more of that later.) I'm really pleased with the results, JH has excelled himself with his ever increasing production abilities, and I think he's helped to create an album that everyone involved in the project will be proud of. Matt added a few extra vocal flourishes (as well as some last minute repairs) only last week, plus Jim has contributed some production touches that have helped add extra life to many of the tunes. We're particularly proud of the title track 'Dying Days', a song that I brought to the sessions very late in the day, and one in fact that we nearly didn't record it at all, and this should kick arse when played live. I would love to get the band out to promote the album later in the year, or early in 2009, though I have to overcome some fairly hefty logistical problems, none more so than the fact that two members of the band will be in different corners of the world! But hey, I like a challenge....

I'll be posting up some tracks to the site very soon so you can all hear exactly what the hell we've been doing for the last four years. Hopefully you won't be disappointed.

More to come.

Hello to anyone reading this! Thanks for showing interest, I'm not sure why we deserve your loyalty, but it's much appreciated nonetheless.

Blimey, a moment ago it was October, now it's bloody March! How did that happen?!! Anyway, many events have conspired to get in the way of the Carbon Soul album being finished, namely: fatherhood, Xmas, other work commitments, gigging, etc, etc... Matt has been busy with his band False Maria (check 'em out, they play good old fashioned rock). I've been gigging with Dr and the Medics, plus writing material for their new album, the first in a decade and one that hopefully we'll try and get recorded this year; plus I became a father for the first time at the end of 2006. Jim has been busy working on other projects, and Andy Lymn is currently AWOL in the middle east somewhere, though apparently ok and having a great time.

Soooo, that brings us back to the present. The Carbon Soul journey began nearly three years ago, a project that kept being put 'on hold' due to the Phenomena album, the Cloven Hoof album, the Whole Lotta Metal tours, and all the usual stuff. So, it's about time that we finished it and maybe even thought about doing a few promotional gigs. Though again, I'm sure our hectic schedules will ensure that becomes more of a long term goal, rather than a short term one. But we can but try?!

So please bear with us, we're getting there, the album is sounding great so far, many of the vocals and the majority of the music has been recorded and just needs a few adjustments prior to mixing. And then, we'll be ready to release it at last! Matt and I will also be involved in the Whole Lotta Metal dates that Simon Wright is looking to put together towards the end of the year, the show will probably be re-packaged but will include much the same line-up as the 2004 and 2005 tours, and should be great fun. And in the meantime, both Matt and I can be seen with our respective bands on the circuit in the UK somewhere...

Watch this space!!
