What a shame! I've just realised it's been almost a year since we posted here.

Sorry guys! Totally my fault.

Summarising, we are releasing a new single every month in 2008. This is why we have many new songs in our MySpace profile. But be quick, because we are only allowed to upload 6 at a time, and next month we will have to take one out to upload a new one, and so forth. So, download as much as you can right away.

Some songs are in English, others are in Portuguese. If you go to our official website you can find the lyrics within the posts. I've included the lyrics and cover picture in every MP3 I've uploaded, but you never know what these sites do to the files.

Perhaps some of you don't know, but we are not touring this year. Manu and I moved out to London last year to get our masters degrees.

As a trade-off, we are giving away these new tunes, which might become a full album by the end of the year. (it is not a promise. More of a wish).

We still have our previous albums on sale. The one in Portuguese can be purchase via our official website (www.wonkavision.com.br), the one in English can be purchased on Amazon.com or iTunes.

A very sad thing happened in Brazil a few days ago. The remains of censorship that haunted brazilian people during the 60's and 70's showed its ugly face once more.
The website YOUTUBE.COM was blocked for Brazilian access due to the upload of a video showing a famous Brazilian Model and his boyfriend having sex on a public beach in Spain.
Maybe it was out o stupidity, or maybe because our law system is not prepared for such "modern" issues like the internet. Either way, I felt like hopping into McFly's DuLorean and travelling back 30 years in time to revive one of the most politically repressed ages in Brazil. It felt bad.
I don't intend to extend myself in this subject, but besides the sad situation, I felt rather proud to see young people acting against this restraint, posting on the internet, making their voices to be heard in benefit of their freedom. I always thought Brazilian people to be too passive against political abuse and other forms, but it seems that the new generation have it differently.



"Boycott of Cicarelli - Brazil without censorship"

Just one more thing. This model is the host of a TV show on Brazilian MTV. And MTV is supposed to be a TV station/magazine/clothing brand that supports freedom of speech. This Model/ Soccer Player Ronaldo Ex-Girlfriend/Six-Toe-Freak-Chick stated in the press today she has nothing to do with the lawsuit and that her boyfriend is the one to blame. Thing is the official document was shown on the news and it had her name on it as an author.
To make a long story short, people are demanding MTV to fire her and they are planning to make a barricade in front of the MTV building tomorrow.
I totally support them. I'm not against MTV. It is just that it's one hell of a way to make her to suffer the consequences of her dumb act. I don't mean fucking on a public beach, I mean causing almost 6 million Brazilian internet users to be prohibited of public information.

Algo muito triste aconteceu no Brasil dias atrás. Restos da censura que assombrou o povo brasileiro durante os anos 60 e 70 apareceram novamente.

O website YOUTUBE.COM teve seu acesso bloqueado aos brasileiros devido ao upload de um vídeo mostrando uma modelo brasileira famosa transando com seu namorado em uma praia pública da Espanha.

Talvez tenha sido por estupidez, ou talvez porque o nosso sistema legal não está preparado para coisas "modernas" como a internet. Seja como for, eu me senti pulando dentro do DuLorean do McFly e viajando 30 anos atrás no tempo pra reviver um dos período mais reprimidos politicament no Brazil. Me senti mal. Não pretendo me extender nesse assunto, mas apesar da triste situação fiquei bastante orgulhoso de ver os jovens agindo contra este impedimento, postando na internet, fazendo com que suas vozes sejam ouvidas em benefício de sua liberdade. Eu sempre achei que o povo brqasileiro era passivo demais em relação aos abusos políticos e outras formas de abuso, mas me parece que a nova geração está se saindo diferente.



Só mais uma coisa. Esta modelo é apresentadora de um programa na MTV brasileira. E a MTV deveria ser um canal/revista/marca de roupa que apoia a liberdade de expressão. Esta modelo/ex-namorada do Ronaldo/Mina-Bizarra-de-6-dedos afirmou na imprensa hoje que ela não tem nada a ver com o processo e que tudo é culpa do namorado dela. Acontece que o documento oficial foi mostrado no jornal e tinha o nome dela como um dos autores.

Pra resumir, as pessoas estão exigindo que a MTV demita ela e estão planejando fazer um piquete na frente do prédio da MTV amanhã. Eu apoio eles completamente. Eu não sou contra a MTV. Só que isso é uma bela maneira de ela sofrer as conseqüências pela burrice que fez. Não me refiro a trepar na praia, mas sim a causar a proibição a um conteúdo publico de quase 6 milhões de usuários de internet.

We had a wonderful time, as you can see in the pictures.

Besides finishing the new CD, and the website, and more gigs, I have a couple new year's resolutions. Both regarding language issues.

First of all, I think I will write a portuguese version below every post, so people will stop asking (and complaining) about this being in English.

Second and last, I was thinking about posting our lyrics translated to English once in a while, so our "gringo" fellas can appreciate the demented ideas we put into our tunes.

How does it sound? Fair enough?

In order to make this Xmas more fun, we had a brilliant ideia.
Why not hire a bunch of Santa Klauses to go out on the streets beating up every single human being which is not smiling or happy on the day before Christmas?
We even came up with a tag line: "Use your teeth for smiling, otherwise you'll lose'em. Merry Xmas!"
People are supposed to be in full joy this time of year. If they are not, our Santa Klaus' gang will make them to. That's the Xmas spirit, right?

We're not gonna post pictures of the gang in action, because, after all, it could ruin your dinner. But, we we're posting here pictures of us Wonkas with the gang, 5 minutes before they start spanking people on the streets. See how nice they look.

(above)In this picture you can see that the same Santa on the right is REEEEEEEALLY PISSED about some pedestrians that were not smiling. Kiko, as a natural Santa, wore his costume right after this picture. He wouldn't miss the fun, of course.

Well, all I can say here is that it actually worked. Smiling people were left alone. Scared people eventually smiled. And those who did not smile at all, won't smile any longer.
