DESIGN THE 2009 DOO DAH T-SHIRT & POSTER CONTEST Brought to you by THE FRIENDS OF DOO DAH Due Date: 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2009
Send To: ChairChick Mz Doo Dah, 235 Buttles Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215-1303 E-Mail: doodahparade@yahoo.com Web-Site: www.DooDahParade.com The Friends of Doo Dah in Columbus, Ohio is seeking submissions from Artists, Illustrators & Graphic Designers for "The 26th Annual Doo Dah Parade" Slogo Contest!
Designs for this year's parade T-Shirts and Posters must adhere to the following requirements:
1. Entries must be delivered or E-Mailed to the above addresses by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27th. If E-Mailing, design must fit onto 8 ½" x 11" paper.
2. Include your contact information.
3. You may submit up to two Slogo designs.
4. Design should be set for no more than two (2) colors.
5. Black and white line art is essential, and a 1/8" trap is necessary for colors that butt. We do a two color silk-screen. If your design incorporates shading, it must be done in a way that will lend itself to be easily silk-screened. The T-shirts themselves will be different colors, and the ink color(s) will be at the discretion of The Friends of Doo Dah. We will take your suggestions.
6. In any order, include the following text:
THE SLOGAN: "Greatest Show Offs On Earth!"
Doo Dah Parade & Party
"The 26th Annual "Celebrate Liberty & Lunacy!" "July 4th, 2009 1:00 p.m. ~ Line-up @ Noon
"NO ENTRY FEE! JUST SHOW UP!" "Prizes for Best and Worst Entries!"
"Less-Than-Grand Marshal: NAME TO BE ANNOUNCED" "2009 DisOrganizer Honoree: Jim "Doo Dah Elf & Property Pimp" Skeens" "SLOGO ARTIST 2009: YOUR NAME" "Doo Dah Hotline: 614-228-0621" "www.DooDahParade.com" "Parade route" [you may us the map instead of text]: "(Line-up) Park Street to Buttles to Neil to 2nd to High to Russell."
Party Before, during & After the Doo Dah Parade: Location -Buttles Avenue (Between High & Park St)
Note: Posters will have a full page 2" wide vertical column listing financial contributors.
Note: Contributors and some of the poster information will be listed on the Back of the T-Shirt.
Suggestion: Think outside the box!
The design should incorporate the Slogo with a theme. Examples can be seen on our web-site: www.DooDahParade.com. We would like to see a theme that reflects the zaniness of the Doo Dah Parade. The Doo Dah Parade is a funny parade. If you can incorporate a theme into your slogo design that reflects the spirit behind Friends of Doo Dah, it should help you win over the voters who choose the winning entry.
Another good tip is to make the design with a vertical orientation so that it looks good on a T-Shirt. The slogo will appear in other places but the most important place is on the T-Shirt and Poster.
Having your Slogo chosen is a great DisHonor which will make you part of the history of The Doo Dah Parade. Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of parade gaulkers and Doo Dah Lovers will be wearing the T-Shirt at the Parade and will wear them around for years to come. The winner gets mentioned on the Web-Site, T-Shirts, and Posters, and we give the winner valuable goodies, including a stack of T's and posters!
Questions related to this Friends of Doo Dah Slogo Contest should be submitted by email to doodahparade@yahoo.com, or call Mz Doo Dah @ 614.228.0621. Answers and questions might be shared with all participants on the Doo Dah Parade Yahoo Groups (please join!) & our web-site . Please feel free to follow up by phone.
All submissions are due by 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 27th, 2009. It is the intent of the DisOrganzers committed Art Committee of The Friends of Doo Dah to select winning art by 9:00 PM March 28, 2009. A $100 Prize Award!!
GOOD LUCK!
