Selecters: LARS BULNHEIM (GER) I started collecting Soul 45s in the mid 80’s, it was a struggle finding them back then, buying from UK lists was expensive and german record shops had nothing available. A good friend and me decided to do some record buying trips to the states in the 90’s and dig thru the shelves, where the music we love was created. Ebay and the price guides stopped me from going states side and as the collection growed, we started our own club here in Hamburg. The „Shelter Club“ ran for 5 years and was succesful from start to finish. We started out as a Northern Soul do and as my taste fort the music changed from strictly Northern to more 70’s and modern sounds, I decided to call it a day as the Hamburg punters didn’t appreciated anything recorded after 1969 (this has gladly changed over the years). Now I’m a regular on all the big weekenders in germany, as the „Nürnberg Rare Soul Weekender“, The Soul Shakers Weekender“ in Bamberg and the „Hamburg Weekender“. I do DJ occasionally outside germany, I was a guest DJ in Rimini / Italy in Rhyl (North England) and Birmingham (in the midlands). I still love my Northern sides, but my focus as a collector is on 70’s and early 80’s discs, they must be soulful and I like it, if they got this certain funky edge. In 2003 I was the co-founder of “Sundae Soul“, a record label, that was speciliced in reissuing underplayed 70’s soul-sides. Along with a few friends I compiled a Stax reissue LP / CD for ZYX records, with all the underrated sides of this classic soul label. „The Whole Damn World Is Going Crazy Vol.1“ hit the streets in 2004 and sold next to nothing. Allthough there are really top class tunes on it by the likes of Joni Wilson, Sandra Wright, Circle O’Fire, William Bell, just to name a few. I still collect soul music in it’s original format and I surely won’t Stop doing it, as there’s nothing, that thrills me more than a quality soul 45, that I have never heard before. I started buying records without having a record player (bad influences) and playing them in the begining of the 90s, together with two masters DSM y AAA, a collective dedicated to the party, to make our crowd wear dubious taste T-Shirts and to lose money; when we learned how to win it, we decided to let it go. At the present time I keep on buying everything that has soul and that I can afford, and I try to share it keeping the dancefloor busy. Long life to the Movin’ On. Jennifer Hudson feat. Around the same time, he began to work in radio, creating and hosting until 1998 the programme Groovy Life (Radio Gracia, Barcelona), dedicated to jazz, funk and soul both old and new. In 2000 he set up the online shop Good Move Records, dealing exclusively in black music on vinyl. In his role as club promoter, in 2002 he co-founded The Powder Room nights held in the Sala Apolo, Barcelona, and was also resident club dj until 2004, playing alongside the big name djs (Keb Darge, Snowboy, Bob Jones, Butch, Raw Deal, Ian Wright and many others). In the same year he returned to radio work, hosting shows on the internet radio station Dostreceradio, and in October this year, he will be responsible for the second phase of the Movin' On programme, which will be closely associated with Good Move Records. In these 15 years dedicated to black music, Marcos Juandó has played in countless venues, both nationally and outside Spain, alternating his residency at the Café Royale in Barcelona from 2003 to 2006 with sessions in other clubs and weekenders, including the Movin' On weekender, which he co-founded. Currently he is about to open Discos Juandó, a vinyl record store with decent sections of soul and jazz in the centre of Barcelona.
Eugene Record: Overdose of joy (Warner Bros 7")
Aretha Franklin: Oh no not my baby (Atlantic 7")
Lorraine Johnson: The more I get the more I want (Prelude 7")

JADD (Madrid)

At first I got into the mod scene, starting to grow a passion for black music which later - thanks to a special person - got me totally involved in the soul faith. In the beginning I did not have a real interest in collecting and playing records, but I was mostly into dancing and promoting events. Later, during the first trips to soul weekenders in UK, I discovered the modern room and I found out which was the kind of music I wanted to dj: fresh and cheerful soulful dance music. During the last 5 years I co-promoted and I've been resident dj at the Black Trefoil Soul Club in Genova as well as at Modern & Xover Soul in Cesenatico, one of the rare modern soul events in Italy.

JADD (Madrid)
JADD has been present in Madrid's black music scene from the middle of the 80s, with residences in some of the most important clubs of the city: Siroco Soul Club (90-95), Kathmandu/Jazzin' Club/Salute! (95-08) and Marula Cafe since 2003. He is also the promoter of different projects, such as Soul Cellar, Funky People, Soul Charge or Blackout.
Its presence is usual in clubs and meetings of Soul, Jazz and Funk in the rest of Spain and in several European cities. He has shared DJ sessions with some of the most important international DJs (Bob Jones, Keb Darge, Ian Wright, Jazzman Gerald, among others) and he has done the warm up in gigs of artists like Sharon Jones & Dap Kings, Jayme Marques, James Taylor Quartet, Jazzcotech dancers…
JADD has compiled the two volumes of the Improvisto! collection, for Hi-Top! Records, that have international distribution and have achieved excellent criticals.
Finally, we should also mention its experience in radio shows (radio Atlantic City in 1986, Soul Incorporated radio show for three years, at present he's into the team of Dialsoul) and as regular collaborator of specialized magazines.
Its sessions are a wise travel along of the Afro-American music of last century, lending special attention to the Soul, style for which JADD feels real enthusiasm.

Fruit of its eclecticism, he's in demand as DJ at numerous events, choosing its sets in function of the people attending the event. Also enjoys playing R&B and Northern Soul as well as playing Crossover and Modern... from steppers to disco... as much midtempos as uptempos. All is worth it if through it he manages to transmit the feeling.

TYRONE WILLIS (UK)
It's a real pleasure to have Tyrone Willis back in Barcelona, some of us still remember his superb Dj sessions in different BCN clubs during the 90's... His first steps as a Dj were in 1978, playing soul, funk and disco in the London area, following the path of other selectors as George Power (Crackers Night Club), Dave Simmons or Robbie Vincent. His personal mix, that also included jazz, latin, reggae or soulful house, gave him Dj spots in historic rare groove clubs such as Shake & Finger Pop or Mastermind, seminal venues (along with Dingwalls) of the Acid Jazz movement of the early 90's. In 1989 Tyrone moved to BCN, building a dedicated following in all the clubs he had residencies in. Since he returned to London in 1997 he has maintained his reputation as a Dj with regular spots in BCN and Madrid. Tyrone is a very special Dj, hard to label though: he's not just modern soul, crossover or rare groove…he's simply soulful.
ANDY DAVIES (UK)
Among the hundreds of Uk selectors, Andy Davies is one of the best modern soul Dj's without the shadow of a doubt. After being more than twenty years behind the decks, our guest is one of the resident Dj in all the big UK soul weekenders (Cleethorpes, Southport, Togetherness, Hilton, etc…), covering the whole modern soul spectrum, from crossover to soulful house productions. Andy started djing northern soul in the 80's, along with other Dj's as Bob Cosby or Gary Dennis, but it's during the 90's decade when he started a productive collaboration with Soul Bowl Records (in fact, he worked there from 1991 to 1998), working along with John Anderson and Richard Searling (Expansion records). All the experience, knowledge (and records!) he acquired in the shop and in the constant US record buying trips with Anderson made him the main resident Dj in weekenders as Southport or Caister. Lately Andy has started to Dj all around Europe: a fair acknowledgement of his talent and experience.
HERMINIO AFONSO (Oviedo)
Herminio Afonso is one of the most active black music promoters and Dj's of Spain. His passion and versatility (his musical spectrum includes a wide array of genres as modern soul, rare groove, jazz-funk, underground disco, brazilian grooves, etc…) was the main force behind to one of the seminal Spanish black music clubs, Black Apocalypse (Asturias, 1996-2001). In 2000-2003 he co-founded "7 Steps to Heaven", adding new sounds such as nu-jazz and soulful house. His last musical adventure was (and still is) S.O.U.L (Sounds Of Unity And Love) Weekender. It has featured some the best international black music Dj's, the guest list is impressive: Dr. Bob Jones, Snowboy, Butch, Arthur Fenn, Terry Jones… Being one of the most prolific Dj's in Spanish clubs and weekenders, he has also graced the Dj booths of Uk clubs such as Bite your Granny (Londres), o Jazz Rooms (Brighton).
JUAN VICENTE DEL CASTILLO (Valencia)
Our next guest has been involved in the promotion of a lot of black american music clubs in the last twenty years. Formerly from Valencia, he arrived to Barcelona in the 80's and became one of the most important soul dj's from the very first time. His next step was to become the main promoter of the mythical Floorshaker Weekender at the start of the 90's, a weekend that can be truly considered the seed of "our" "Movin' on". He's been a regular Dj in other weekenders such as Soul4Real (Bilbao), Black Apocalypse (Asturias), Black Talk (València), o Soul Supreme (Vitoria-Gasteiz), etc…. Internationally wise, he's shared Dj booth and wheels of steel with Keb Darge (Deep Funk), Snowboy (Messin' Around) o Mark Taylor (Jazz Rooms). Now back in Valencia , his musical taste covers a wide spectrum of music: modern soul, funk, jazz dance, soulful house…You name it, JV's got it!

***************
TYRONE WILLIS (UK)
Tyrone es just simply Soulful!
ANDY DAVIS (UK)
JUAN VICENTE DEL CASTILLO (Valencia)
