partial ceiling collapse

Well, the partial ceiling collapse in my bathroom (photo above taken Friday) has begun to leak dirty water directly over the toilet again.  I don't know what FEMA is gonna say, but this is Day 8 with -
No fridge
No A/C
Fans at below half-speed
No screens on windows
Filthy water dropping onto me when I use the toilet
And to me that's uninhabitable.

Hi y'all, hope everyone got through the storm OK!  I evacuated to the Westside of Houston and rode it out with friends over there.  If that was Cat 2, I want nothing to do with Cat 4 or 5!!

I don't know if power every completely went out at my place, but currently we have very dim lights & slow fans, not enough juice to run a fridge or A/C.  Still, most of Montrose doesn't even have that, so I feel lucky to be able to watch the news.  I've been back at work since Thursday and may be spending more time there until my apt gets full power, since the lab has A/C & internet.

I took a few shots on my way home from work yesterday, mostly right around my apartment, so take a look at my Ike photoset on Flickr.  Here's a few:

Don't look now, but Rice is 2-0 after whupping SMU and squeaking by Memphis (see above).

Zornes' homer helps Rice beat A&M in baseball playoffs

It was easy to understand how doubt crept in at some point this year for Rice junior catcher Adam Zornes. Injuries compounded the Owls' annual sluggish start to the season, and the compressed schedule limited their opportunities to stabilize their shaky defense.

But the Owls' struggles with consistency never impacted their ability to perform in the clutch. In fact, all the obstacles strewn along their path bolstered their resolve and prepared them for the adversity they faced Sunday night against an equally resilient foe.

With Texas A&M seeking to force a third and decisive Game 3 of the Houston Super Regional, Zornes lined a two-run homer off Aggies closer Travis Starling in the eighth inning to lift Rice to a 6-5 victory at Reckling Park and clinch the Owls' third consecutive berth in the College World Series, which opens Saturday in Omaha, Neb.
Way to go Owls.  And how 'bout Coach Wayne Graham?!
