Yo,

If you missed yesterday's Jakarta Post with the Monday Math Class article, don't worry: our interview is now up on their website! Click here to check it out!

Hey people,

Long time no see, hope you've all been doing fine. We're all peachy over here in Monday Math Class land, in case you were wondering. Thanks to everyone who's posted in the comments section and just digs our music in general.

Speaking of which, our EP is almost done. Just need to add some stuff and we'll finally be able to put that sucker out there for you to enjoy.

While you're waiting on that, check out this Saturday's Jakarta Post for an interview with us about...well, pretty much all you need to know about Monday Math Class, if they print everything we talked about. Of all the publications we could've done our first interviews with, we never thought the Post would be one of them, especially as we haven't actually released anything or done much. But as it turns out, Morgan from the Post saw us perform at Aksara a while back and liked what he saw, and so he called us up. So cheers to Morgan, and we look forward to the article.

Alrighty then, that's all for now. Talk to you soon!

Here's the poster for Sunday's gig:

As you can see, there are a few changes from yesterday's announcement. It's still free, though.

Oh, and a big high-five to Carlo from Italy, who mentioned us in his blog, UtopicMusic, in which he talks about music from all around the world. Check out what he has to say about MMC here.

Hey peeps,

Sorry this is short notice, but we're having a gig this Sunday afternoon at Aksara Bookstore, Kemang in support of White Shoes & The Couples Company and their upcoming trip to the United States, where they'll perform in several cities, including New York at the CMJ festival. We wish them all the best and hope they take good care of Echang, who'll be going with them to make sure everything goes smooth at their shows. OK, we hope he takes good care of them.

Also performing on Sunday is Harlan, otherwise known as Harlan Boer or Bin, former member of C'mon Lennon and The Upstairs. He'll be playing some brand new solo tunes, with help from The Upstairs' Kubil Idris.

White Shoes' own performance will feature guests David Bayu Danangjoyo of Naif, Ade Firza Paloh of Sore and Harry Winanto. They'll also be selling four exclusive new t-shirt designs, in conjunction with UNKL347. Grab them while you can.

Oh, and the gig is FREE. Need we say more? Apart from see you there?

See you there!

Hey,

Happy Idul Fitri for everyone who's celebrating, and hopefully everyone's enjoying their holiday. Recording of the EP continues, as Echang played bass on four tracks last weekend. Aldri will play also bass on one track, because that's what he usually does when he isn't being Mr. Executive Producer for indie pop bands. Then it'll be on to guitar, vocals and whatever weird shit we feel like putting in.

Here's a pic from the studio. No, that's not Ario and Echang playing at the same time, though some twin bass licks would've been cool. Ario's just showing him the parts:

In between recording, we might have a gig or two soon. Keep checking back, yeah?

Ciao.

Much love to everyone who came to check us out at Kedai earlier tonight. That was one fun gig, and in the grand tradition of Monday Math Class madness, once again there were shake-ups in our live line-up. Gigih's on vacation, so on Saturday we practiced without a drummer (and caught Naif's awesome concert at GKJ in between). Then just before our set, we got John Navid - White Shoes & the Couples Company's super-drummer - to help out. And so before each song Ario took a few seconds to fill him in, and then John just took things from there. Naturally there was a mistake or two, or fifteen. But the good vibes and friendly faces in the crowd clapping along kept our spirits up. You have fun, we have fun, everybody wins.

Here's the line-up for Monday Math Class' fifth gig:
Prisci: vocals
Ario: lead guitar
Ghyan: rhythm guitar, vocals, shaker thingy
Hasief: vocals, shaker thingy
Echang: bass
John: drums

The setlist:
1. Scary Little Girl
2. Running Shoes
3. Please Go Away (New song, Hasief on lead vocals)
4. 2 AM
5. Your Girlfriend Has a Mustache (New song)
6. Playing With Fire

Some gig photos:

That's all for now, we'll see you at the next gig - whoever we are, haha.

Just finished with the last two drum tracks for the EP, including one new song that Gigih hadn't heard before, but he nailed it like a flash. We'll be moving on to the bass parts soon, and hopefully that'll go down as smoothly too.

Don't forget to catch our acoustic set this Sunday night at Kedai, where we'll be playing with Tika, Sore and White Shoes & The Couples Company. Should be awesome.

Pics from the studio:

YouTube rocks.

Prisci and Ghyan bust a move.

A rare sighting of Hasief eating rice.

No, Ario and Prisci are not chatting to each other via MSN. Things in the band haven't got that bad. Yet. (Knock on wood.)

Gigih ponders which drum to hit first.

"Screw it, I'll just hit all of 'em!"

Oh, and happy birthday to Hasief and Ghyan, whose birth dates are one day apart (16th and 17th). The years are a different matter altogether, though...

Yo,

Monday Math Class will be playing an acoustic gig this Sunday (September 21st) at Kedai, along with other cool peeps you may like (and we totally like): Tika, Sore and White Shoes & The Couples Company. The gig is free but space is limited, so you'd better arrive there early to get a comfy spot to catch some great music. We'll be doing songs you'll already know, and maybe some new stuff if you ask nicely and bribe Hasief with some Coca-Cola. The show starts at 7 pm.

For more details, check out the show page and flyer.

See ya!

Been a busy week or so for Monday Math Class. Had a band meeting two Saturdays ago to work out plans while grabbing dinner at Kemang Food Fest, and recording for our EP officially started last Thursday at Pendulum Studios, where Gigih managed to lay down three drum tracks in one night. Awesome. More recording this week...

Photos galore:

Abazh and Prisci take a peek.

Ario wonders where his dinner is.

Abazh wonders where Ario's dinner is.

Hasief knows where his dinner is.

Prisci knows where Hasief's dinner is too, and grabs some.

Family portrait.

The recording drumkit set-up.

Ario setting up with Aldri, our executive producer.

That looks expensive.

Ario gives Gigih some instructions.

Gigih bangs the drums.

Ario reviews the results with Aldri and Echang, the funky bass player.

Technical mumbo jumbo.

Hasief wonders why he can't get a decent radio signal on that thing.
