Second 8bit album by former screamer, Shelby Cinca. Created during travels and time living abroad with a cat and a Swede. Includes guitar, bass and other instrumentation on top of pure 8bit nanoloop beats. An 8bit IDM journey about creatures that expands and explores new territories only hinted at on the first album "Obelisk". Also includes 2 8bit covers by DC's Antelope!

Shelby of FM has releases his solo electronic album on iTunes... much like the electronic experimentations on the Frantic Mantis album "Data Is Not Information" yet with a focused intensity that brings to mind exploding polygrons and wire frames in a pixellated version of a dark and burning planet.

FM will be on vacation for a few weeks thus a pause of sounds will occur for a bit. In the meanwhile, read a fine book such as Snowcrash by Neal Stephenson or Pattern Recognition by William Gibson.

Rehearsal 3
Monday, June 05, 2006

Frantic Mantis Consortium presents the second rehearsal. Open-Source Data-Punk! Two mp3s of new material... one of which being the song from rehearsal 1 with guitar by Per Stålberg. I (Shelby) have switched to bass. A little known fact is that I played bass years before I started playing guitar... and I enjoy it. So no more revolving bassists since 2006!

We here at The Frantic Mantis Consortium have decided that we are now open-source. All practices, works in progress, etc.. will be posted on this blog for all to observe our creations underway. Why, you ask? Because in this age of pro-tooled to death and auto-tuned music we admit and are proud that we are human and not a photoshopped version of overly stylized bipeds playing a watered down version of punk. This experiment:10 practices, 10 songs... then a new album. We will be swearing by Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies during our creations. Welcome to brain.
