I saw something big.  Well, its BIG to me and probably a whole bunch of other boston hip hop fans.

I was browning MSN and they had a article about 15 must have albums of the this month and next month (consumer guide).  I had to see how many were hip hop.  And sho'nuff there were only 2 of them.  the first one was Nas: Hip Hop is Dead.  I said cool, makes a bit of sense.  But shit, after that I saw 7L & Esoteric: A New Dope.  I love that album and it seems MSN does too.  Thats anothe rnotch for Boston.  I'm happy to see the album up there next to NASir JONES' album.  Its a good day for boston hip hop

I am going to start writing a blog. There isn't gonna be a set day or pattern as to when these drop... they just WILL.  I just wanted to write... thats all.  A little therapy.  We all need that right?

 

So just in case you didn't know I've branched out my services to a few people.  Namely a long time friend PY INFAMOUS of THE THREAT.

Together we formed E.B.B. & F.L.O.W. ( Every Beat Bangs & Freshest Lyrics On Wax )

The reason why we came together was a mixture of personal and business issues that we were going through at the time.  It just kinda fell into place.  There obviously is a "Version" of the story on both sides.  But I don't you or I have the time to spell it out...lol.

Secondly I've hooked up with my man Stacey from Memphis, Tennesee who currently goes to Berklee School of music, and plays keys for AL GREEN.  So you know the dude is a MONSTER on them ivorys.  He plays organs, pianos, keyboards with skill.  Its been fun learning from him and bouncin ideas off him about music.  We've been doin a lot of work lately in many different studios and it looks like some of it is paying off...

Both of these have been benificial for me as a musician and on a personal level.  If you ever wanted something real bad in your life and get fustrated when a door gets slammed in your face or when an opportunity passes you by you know how I felt prior to this.  Things just seem to work itself out.

Lately I also have been trying to clean the rough edges around my hustle in this music biz.  I'm still in my learnin phase, well i think I'll always be in there lol.  But I  mean the "apprentice" type learning phase.  I'm still trying to be as solid as possible.  I love the work I do now... but I know I'm better than that and I'm working on taking it there...

Any suggestions?

I am in the midst of a life long acheivment.  A new project? Yes!!!

And whats even better it's mine. All mine! Well, I had a lot of say in it. LOL

okay let me explain

Last week I started recording songs with a very good friend of mine from mississippi (Py Infamous).  We were actually supposed to work on a couple of songs for an EP.  That was certainly accomplished.  But funny enough we got beside ourselves fucked around and recorded an albums worth of material.

Our minds started to turn and we said "Why Not" so here we are E.B.B & F.L.O.W.  A Producer and an Emcee much like DJ Jazzy Jeff or Hi-Tek and Kweli is the move we made.

It was a fun couple of days.  Working till sun up.  I really needed that outlet

Nebraska here i come!!!!!!!!

The project is a great one... going back to the roots "hopefully", just trying to do hip hop the best way we know.

To walk in the shadow of everybody.  Your every move scrutinized.  Every creation created poked and proded @ disected and thrown back @ you.  For the love of music huh?

 

It always intrigues me how the hiphop game is so... sooo... well so harsh.  Does it have to be this way?  No! But, It should.  Why?  Because, this is a genre of music where nobody is satisfied with yesterdays hotness... this isn't the age of classics anymore (the days of yore)...  we must step our games up to make it as such. So as we do so along the way we must analyze and over analyze, we must be picky, we must veto.  Its the way we get better, so to all the producers, rappers, singers...  just cuz someone does like or wanna fuck with your music doesn't mean STOP... it actually means go to the drawing board figure out ways to wow them.

Everybody had days they had to reinvent themselves.. you know whats hot and what "can be" hot so just do it!!!

Altho prudence and patience help most people and are mantras to live by they also hold you back.  Learn tact, learn strategy, learn people, focus, and most of all be the person everyone needs to know.

This morning I get an email from a little newletter that I'm part of and it said this:

Now I don't care if its right or wrong but.... I think this is true for any region/state/city that doesn't have the shine.

No one is pulling for them the way they should. Anything commercial hardly focuses on the product but rather their profit margin. In this game the bottom line is the dollars! The artistry never seems to be top priority.
