Out now on Electric Minds....

Some people call him a genius, some a tortured artist and for others he was misunderstood; but for many his music is the ultimate tribute to his life that was cut short in 1992. Arthur Russell's work has been covered, sampled and used as inspiration but what really drove Electric Minds on this project was to continue his legacy and through modern interpretations bring examples of his work to a new generation. Here a collection of current underground disco, Balearic and house producers carefully pick out key elements of his songs whilst recording entirely new and up to date versions. Yam Who?, Faze Action, singer Mary Moore, NYC's Pocketknife, My Tiger My Timing, Andy Spence from New Young Pony Club, and Max Essa have worked hard to create entirely new instruments and vocals. Additional remixes come from Mark E, Ilija Rudman and Lil Tony. In addition Peter Gordon who worked with Arthur Russell on many of the original releases has collaborated with Yam Who & Faze Action; adding his musicianship to the newly created cover of "Go Bang". Further collaborations from Arthur's friends and musicians, Steven Hall and Joyce Kirby, also provide a new version of "Lucky Cloud" which is produced by NYC's Pocketknife.

Stevie Kotey & Max Essa : Salon De L'Herbe Part 2 (Electric Minds) is now in the shops...

Stevie Kotey & Max Essa have been working hard over the last year. Not only content with releasing their own solo material, including Kotey's Afrobutt CD on Electric Minds and Essa's album on Bear Funk; the pair have also been working together on their new project Soiree. In addition their first "Salon De L'Herbe" EP was released via Electric Minds in May 2008 providing a twisted journey of dub, disco and electronica and given the thumbs up world-wide by today's elite producers and DJs. The standard continues with the second "Salon De L'Herbe" EP, which sticks to the same theme in providing three deep and underground cuts. The live drums, guitars and slick arrangement provide a musical journey that sounds immense when piped through any decent club system. "1986" will provide a great vibe for any club while "1978 It Felt Great" and "Guitar"'s Balearic feel will be perfect for the summer. All in all three amazing tracks!
