Hey Guys & Girls,

We performed at the Central Coast Country Music Festival last weekend. We had a fantastic time on Saturday participating in the busking competition, drew a good crowd and sold some cd's too!! On Saturday afternoon we went out and performed at a surprise 60th birthday party for a lovely lady named Marilyn. It was a really special occasion to be involved in, and we were so grateful to be able to make her day extra special!!

On Sunday we were busking out the front of Euro Bar & Grill at The Entrance from 9am - 12noon.  Debbi Lalor, who runs the WhatsOnCentralCoast website came by to watch our performance and has written a review on what she thought!!

We wanted to share it with you all as we are really proud of what Deb had to say.

Just click on the link below, and please let us know what you think too!!

Hey Guys & Girls,

We had a fantastic Back2Basics Concert last weekend!! Everyone seemed to have a great night, there was hardly a spare seat in the club, which of course is testament to the great acts we had performing on the night.

After 12 months of hosting Back2Basics, we thought it was about time we opened the show, so TRD took to the stage to kick off the night and were joined on stage for the last half of our set by Bill Chambers. Bill accompanied us on lap steel guitar and dobro, it will definitely go down as of our most memorable moments!!!

Check out our photo album to see the pics!!!
A very special thank you to Troy Mackaway from Tromac Photography for taking our pics on the night.
www.tromacphotography.com.au

After our set, Bill had centre-stage and boy, can that man play...!! As our special guest on the night, Bill certainly pleased the audience and gave them a show to remember. He had brought a couple of guests along too, Phil & Lou Bradley. It was a real honour to have them at our show.....it's gonna be a hard show to top!!!!

The entertainment just kept coming with The Housework Can Wait up next. These girls gave quite a performance, everyone enjoyed their lovely harmonies, they performed a mix of great covers and originals. Then our good friends, Out Of The Blue finished the night off in style!! They're an amazing four piece acoustic group who perform everything from the classics, to top 40 and original songs that reach out and grab you!!

Along with Ourimbah RSL Club, we were raising money through the raffle on the night, for WAGS, a support group on the Central Coast for stroke survivors and their carers. We were fortunate to have 24 of their members in the audience, meeting and spending time with them was lovely, and we look forward to supporting WAGS through many shows in the future!!

Back2Basics has truly evolved into what we always dreamed it would be..... a great night out with brilliant talent, in a relaxed and comfortable environment!!

We've met so many wonderful artists and really enjoy doing our bit in reigniting live music on the Central Coast!! Keep a look out for future Back2Basics dates, these are shows you really don't want to miss!!!

On a sadder note, the recent bushfire tragedy in Victoria has no doubt touched us all very deeply.  We, like so many people, felt the need to do something.  We sent out an email to our mates, said we were going to put on a relief concert.  The response we received was overwhelming, in fact we booked 2 shows!!!

Diggers @ The Entrance & The Rough Diamonds are holding a Disaster Relief Bushfire Appeal Concert on Friday 27th March, 2009.

Artists performing on the night are:

The Rough Diamonds, Out Of The Blue, Johanna Hemara, Jason Lee, The Kind Kids, Racz 'n Waters,

Kelly Hope, Lee Forster, The Housework Can Wait, Luke O'Shea, The Harmonators, Lianna Rose & Dai Pritchard.

There will be raffles held on the night, and we are still seeking donations for raffle prizes, so please spread the word and get in touch if you can help with prizes (email us info@theroughdiamonds.com.au).

Details of the second show will be announced at a later time.

Below are some dates for your diary, there are more on our website so be sure to check it out.

Hi There,

I was so upset watching the devastation of the current bushfire disaster in VIC. As tears welled in my eyes I realised that I can do more than just fill these tissues, so I started planning & spoke to my sisters!!!

The Rough Diamonds are holding a Disaster Relief Appeal concert to raise money for the many victims of the bushfire tragedies. If you can help in any way, please get in touch within the next couple of days. Every little bit helps, so please have a think about what you can do.

Details such as date & venue are yet to be confirmed, but we are seeking help in many ways, including:

-  Artists to perform

-  Artists to donate merchandise for raffle prizes

-  Donations of either money or basic necessities (non-perishable food, clothing, towels, linen etc) would be gratefully accepted.

-  If you are in the business of sound, promotions, media etc and can offer any assistance, we would love to hear from you!!

Please send an email through with information of what you're able to do to help out, and we will be in touch with more details as they come to hand.

Thank you for your support, together we can achieve so much!!!

Kind regards,

Hi Guys & Girls,

We'd like to wish all of the fathers a very happy Father's Day!!  Hope you all had a lovely day.  Our family celebrated by going out to a local steakhouse for lunch. It's not often that our whole family can get together, but most of us were there today, which was great!!!

We enjoyed a couple of spare weekends during August, got a few things done around the house and spent time with the family which was nice.  One of the highlights for us last month was getting a call from the Mayor asking us if we could perform at an official engagement.  We had a great time at that gig, which was held at Awaba House at Booragul (beautiful place, highly recommend it if you're in the area and looking for a nice place to hold a dinner/party!!).  We were so happy a few days later to receive another call from the Mayor to book us again for a function.at the Council Chambers.  That was last Thursday night, and it too was a great night.

During our markets gig at Morisset last sunday, we broke into a Wiggles set, which was heaps of fun.... the kids all had a blast too and Mum even got up and played the guitar for Hokey Pokey!!  It was hilarious doing all the actions and belting out the kiddies tunes....  The crowd enjoyed it too, with the whole area filling up in minutes!!  (might have to make that a regular addition to our shows up there).  The markets gig at the end of September (28th Sept) will also be a cracker, being in the school holidays, and the markets are holding a Pirate Themed weekend, so bring the kids down for a great day of fun!!!  Aaarrrr me hearties!!!

TRD have got lots planned for the coming months, with shows, visits, radio interviews, community events and yes - recording too!!

Hi Guys & Girls,

We're having a wonderful time singing up a storm all over the place!! In the last month we've been doing a number of shows from Sydney to the Upper Hunter. Em's eldest son joined us on stage at Belrose last month, and warmed everyone's hearts.  The president of the club said he was officially the youngest ever performer to sing on that stage, at just three and a half years of age!!

It's been great also having our older sister, Lou join us.  She started playing bass guitar only about 5 weeks ago, but you wouldn't know it, she's picked it up so quickly!!!

We're having a lot of fun on stage together and have been attracting attention around the place too. Just yesterday we received a phone call from our local Mayor himself, requesting we perform at an upcoming engagement.  What a wonderful compliment, we are looking forward to it. Word sure gets around, and it makes us so happy to know that our music is reaching more people who enjoy it as much as we do.

We've been keeping pretty busy lately, which has been fantastic, though we're looking forward to some quiet nights in over the next few weeks. It'd be nice to catch up with family & friends for a bbq and a sing-along around the fire, it's been a while!!  Have to see what the rest of clan have got planned!!

A big congratulations to Sandy from Petersburg, IN, USA, who won a copy of our Debut Acoustic EP, "Nights Up On The River".  Sandy was the first person to respond to the competition last month with the correct answer to this question, "Which of our songs most recently received airplay on the American Country Radio Network?"

The  correct answer was "When You Smile".

Upcoming dates:

22 August  -  Awaba House, from 6.30pm

31 August  -  Morisset Mega Markets, 11am – 2pm

12 September  -  The Lanyard Stone Grill, Dora Creek, from 6.30pm

13 September  -  Back 2 Basics – Community Concert (tix $5 each) Lake Munmorah Bowling Club, 1.30pm – 5.00pm

More dates on our website, so please check it out for more info.

Hey Guys & Girls,

Hope this finds you well.  We've had an enjoyable time over the past week and especially this weekend!

World Youth Day has brought many pilgrims from all over the world, and we've had the absolute pleasure of meeting six beautiful young women from Norway who have been staying at Mum and Dads place.  We've had a lovely time getting to know them and spending time with them over the past few days. We'll upload some pics over the next few days, so keep a look out for them.

On the gig front, we've had a great time this weekend.  On Saturday night we headed down to Parramatta for our first trip to Mars Hill Cafe.  We really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place, and it was great to meet up with some old friends and also meet new ones.

Our big sis Lou joined us for this gig also, and it was so much fun to have the three of us on stage together!  We enjoyed our girls night out in the big smoke... although the traffic was insane..... how quickly does one forget about the "busy-ness" of the city... it was nice to come home to our quiet little haven!!!

Today we performed at a World Youth Day celebration at Myuna Bay... what a buzz!!  It was great to meet so many people from different parts of the world... (Canada, Norway, Mexico, Taiwan) We opened up the afternoons entertainment with a mix of some of our favourites, and then a bush band took to the stage and had everyone on their feet with toes tappin' and arms flappin'!!  It was a really fun day!!

Sadly tonight we bid farewell to our new friends from Norway, who are off to Sydney tomorrow to continue on their WYD celebrations.  They are a really special group of girls, and we will miss them dearly.  They gave us beautiful hand-braided friendship bracelets in the Norwegian colours, which we will wear with pride!! We hope to visit them sometime in the future!!

Hope you all had a great weekend, and we wish you all the best for the week ahead.

Take care & Much luv,
Cec & Em...xxx
