Greetings you silly Sealers...
First off we'd like to wish everyone a VERY Happy New Year. We hope 2009 will be all you hope it will be!
We have some news to report...
We are sad to announce that Seventh Seal will be parting ways with our lead guitarist Joe Begly. Yes yes...we know. It's not easy news to take. I know bands always say the usual cliche of "we're still on really good terms" but....well...we're still on really good terms. Being in a band this day and age can be a VERY difficult road to follow. You pretty much have to be in a band, be very close to someone in a band, or be related to someone in a band to fully understand this. It's not a job that is easy to turn into a lasting career you can support yourself or your family off of. For those of you that don't know, Joe has been with his beautiful wife Crystal for over 9 years, quite a long time. Joe is focused on building their life together and spending much more time with one another. We love Joe (and Crystal) to death and we are very happy for them. Truer words have never been spoken! :)
With that said we have some other news we would like to announce.
We have decided to take an extended hiatus for at least the rest of 2009. We will be playing the 4 shows we already have booked for the year and that is it. SO if you want to catch this lineup of the band one last time pick one of these shows and check it out. Joe is kind enough to commit to finishing out these shows for us and we owe him many thanks for doing so. That would make the very last show with Joe June 20th at the June Jam Festival in Houston Delaware. Everyone come out and show your support! It won't only be the last show with Joe, but the last Seventh Seal show for quite some time.
Taking a break was a mutual decision the rest of Seventh Seal came to following the news of Joes departure. Some of our newer friends/fans might not know it, but Seventh Seal has been around in some way shape or form for over 8 years! That's a long time to do something with no break. The last couple years have been the most intense of all with many highs and many lows. 2008 pretty much drained us all physically, financially, and emotionally. We did 2 tours, played musical chairs with no less then 4 drummers, faced huge legal problems, spent every penny we had, released a new album nationally, had a huge push on major FM stations, narrowly missed out on no less then 3 HUGE opportunities for the band...it's been a crazy ride! We are all tired and ready to recharge our batteries.
We can ASSURE you we will be back in 2010. We have made many many mistakes over the course of our music careers that we have paid attention to and learned a great deal from. We are all very excited at the idea of relaunching the band with a clean slate and a renewed sense of purpose. We will still be writing heavily, we've set a goal of coming back out with no less then 20 brand new songs ready and recorded. Other then that the rest of Seventh Seal will be spending time relaxing a bit and working on some other fun stuff. Josh will be doing some crazy graphic design work, Nate and Justin, who now live together (hawt!!), will be working on recording and producing bands. They're also working on a new "studio" band that will be releasing new music very soon. And last but not least, Chris, who we didn't even get a chance to introduce (sorry Chris hahaha), will no doubt spend most of 2009 being chased around the school by Mr. Belding and trying to avoid beatings from A.C. Slater.
Oh yes and we ARE looking for a new Lead Guitar player....if you think you have what it takes, then learn at least 3 of our songs COMPLETE with all the lead guitar parts and send us a link to a video of you playing them. We WILL NOT be holding any live auditions for another guitarist. If, from your videos, we can tell you have what it takes to play all of Joes parts, we will then take the next step of getting together and meeting with you. PLEASE DO NOT MESSAGE US ASKING TO AUDITION ANY OTHER WAY!!! :) It's 2009 man, everyone has access to youtube :) We are trying to avoid wasting our time as well as yours. If you aren't available to tour, can't afford to split a monthly van payment and 1/5th of ALL purchases the band makes, sing strong on key backup vocals, and have a ridiculously amazing live rig PLEASE save yourself the time and skip trying out. We don't want to sound negative, we're very much looking forward to finding the next piece of Seventh Seals' puzzle, but we have to set some minimum guidelines to save us all a lot of time.
See you all soon!

Well, after a month of hardcore promotion, tons of help from our friends, and voting day after day after day we finally got the results the Project Independent competition. We came in 3RD PLACE!!! On one hand, we could look at this with disappointment in that we don't get to go on the massive tour that Project Independent puts together, but I'd rather focus on the positive! We are NUMBER THREE in one of the largest competitions for bands in the nation! I am absolutely stoked about all the support that was so freely given to us from our friends, fans and even other bands! I'd really like to take this time to thank Anamide, Forgive the Fallen, Elisium (these are the ones I'm aware of, I think there were so others too) and any other bands that posted bulletins trying to gather some extra votes for us! I also want to thank all the people, our fans, and our friends that voted, got their friends and family to vote and posted bulletins and who knows what else in order to collect some more votes for us! Congrats to all the bands that made it into the top 20 as well! Two other bands from Baltimore were also in the top 20, Anubis Unbound and Inkarnit! Baltimore showed up for this competition for sure. Our friends and fans (you guys) helped us compete with two of the largest music scenes (Los Angeles, CA and Austin, TX) in the nation and I feel that this will really help put Balitmore on the map! There are other plans that we've been working on to tour later this year. Winning this competition would have made that work a lot easier, but it doesn't mean that we won't tour this year. We'll keep you all posted! Thanks again, you guys ROCK!!! - Josh

Hello, how are you today? Good? Good.
Sorry we have been almost completely vacant from the myspace/blog/update/news areas for quite some time!!! What the heck have we been doing?!?!
Well, currently we are recording some new material and writing even more. We've been doing a couple local shows with some amazing bands lately, getting ready to do a few more and test out some of the new live songs...should be fun!!! Come watch us mess them all up!!! :) I'm hoping we'll have some new material to post online here VERY soon...we're SOOO excited for everyone to hear it...it's going to be a bit heavier, groovier, and epicker (YES!)then anything you've heard from us before. Yup, those are the 3 words I'd pick to describe it haha.
And speaking of shows we've also been working on pulling out a couple older Seventh Seal songs...we've been working on the same set for so long we really want to start switching it up more often. Also we'll have some news very soon on some awesome New Years Even plans....DON'T MAKE PLANS UNTIL YOU HEAR FROM US FIRST!! Hahaha...you know you wanna spend the first hours of 2009 with us!!
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY we have two awesome shows!! You should come out to either or both...especially if you want to hear the brand new songs first and some older seal favorites tingling in your ear canals haha.
We're also working on new merchandise which is all HAND MADE by the band....we should have some more new designs and a new logo posted soon!
AND we're happy to announce we have moved onto the third and final round in the Project Independent voting. We are so proud of the city of Baltimore really, 3 BANDS FROM BALTIMORE MADE IT TO THE FINAL ROUND!!! That's crazy!! That's 3 out of 20 bands TOTAL picked out of the entire NATION!! 14,290 votes for Baltimore metal came in...that's awesome!! Half of those were just Inkarnits!!! They are killing it!!! Best of luck to them and Anubis Unbound-the other Baltimore band tearing it up!! Actually best of luck to all the bands!!!
So here comes the part where I ask all of you to please go and vote for us!!!! PLEASE!!! Once a day!!! Till January 1st!! PLEASE POST A BULLETIN ABOUT IT!! EMAIL YOUR FRIENDS!! YOUR FAMILY!!! BLOG ABOUT IT!!! HELP!!! :)

What's up Silly Sealers? It's your favorite bass player here lol, just though I would take a minute to update everyone on our East Coast As Lives Of One Tour. Seventh Seal is currently sitting at a Panera Bread in Massachusetts bogging down the free wi-fi, sippin' on some nice mocha lattes or whatever you call them.. needless to say its quite a site.. right now I think Justin is sleeping while jim is watching golden girls left and right. lol. ...anyway I'm getting off subject now..you guys are dying to know how the tour is going right?? lol, I knew you would be. Well so far we have been having an amazing time on the road, sleeping in Wal Mart parking lots and at good friends houses who were hospitable enough to let us stay the night and shower...oh man I don't believe there are words to describe the funk that accumulates from 6 grown men living in a van for even just a few days...we'll I think we came up with a few scenarios for what may be comparable to the smell..but nothing I can go into too much detail with you right now haha, all I can do is leave you with this pic of a tattoo drummerJim got on his leg so he would never forget the unbelievable odor... its a LONG story...just ask him what Hickory smells like next time you see him haha! oh and while you're asking him about that don't forget to ask about the story of him shooting his pellet gun at a rest stop surrounded by families and boy scouts....yeah, the cops didn't think that was very funny and didn't mind handing out $105 fines to each of us... THANKS JIM!! I could go on and on about all of the hilarious things that have gone on already but I'm sure you'll hear all about that in the next few blogs lol. I leave you with a few pics and video clips... ...oh wait a minute, Panera Bread won't let me onto photobucket damnit!! Ok, we'll here's a video, I'll put some pics up next time I get a chance. don't forget to send your boys some love!! :) Nate p.s. Very special thanks to Jenee & Jack, Sarah, Eric, Leo and the boys from Red Theory, and Jeff and the boys from Fear The State for all your hospitality and support!! We love you guys!!!

We apologize in advance if we've moved a date or venue around that you were previously planning for, but we promise if you make it to the show closest to ya we'll rock out extra special for ya!!

Hey everyone!!!! It's Joe. Sorry we've been falling behind on our blogs...it's just that since so few of you of actually comment on our blogs that we think none of you are reading (hint hint)....Anyway I'm about to throw an awful lot of information your way, so pay attention!!! First of all, you may (or may not) have been wondering how my leg disease is doing. If you don't know what I'm talking about, read my last blog. Well the good news is this: I'm going to die. We all are actually, so that means I'm completely normal!!! LOL! What I mean is, I'll die someday, but not from what was wrong with my legs. I worried you for a second didn't I???? .......No????? Well fine!!! Be that way!! What I had was extremely rare. It's called Henoch Schonlein Purpura. And no I'm not making it up. Google it and you'll find out. It's a form of vasculitis (i.e. small blood vessels were rupturing and the blood was leaking out into my skin. Hence the disgusting lesions on my legs) There isn't really a known cause for it, but it has been known to follow infections such as strep. And here's something you probably didn't know about strep: there are two kinds. The strep throat that we all think of is strep type B. I had type A, which isn't usually treated. What probably happened was my immune system was weak and couldn't fight off the strep type A and it turned into my leg disease. So don't mess with strep!!! People can die from that stuff!!!!!!!!! Here's what my legs looked like at their (almost) worst: And this Here's what they look like now And this Sorry the pics are so big. I didn't feel like re-sizing them. So thank you all for your concern. My last blog was the most-responded-to blog we've ever had. So I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. When I posted the last blog it was taking advantage of a bad situation and using it to try and entertain you. I wasn't expecting the response I got. It's very humbling. Also, if you read the comments in that blog, you would've seen something about our dear friend Mike who was diagnosed with cancer. I think his type of cancer was a 70% fatality rate. Well guess what? He showed up to our band practice the other night with some great news: his latest tests show that he's cancer free and the doctors are telling him that there's no remission!!!! That means he beat the stuff! Thank you for all of you who kept him in your thoughts and prayers. God really came through on this one (well really He always does...it's just not always what we're expecting and hoping for, but this time it was). So much great news!!! But there's even more--have you seen our schedule of events? In case you missed it, we're doing a full east coast tour this October!!! That means if you live on the east coast and haven't seen us live yet, THIS WILL BE YOUR CHANCE! And there's no telling when we'll hit the entire coast again, so DON'T MISS IT!!!!!!!! Let's see, what else.....???? I know there's something else I need to tell you all about.....OH YEAH! Everyone who lives within an hour or two of Baltimore, clear your calendar on Friday July 18 because we're playing the Recher Theatre in Towson!!! It's the last time we'll play there for quite a while, so again DON'T MISS YOUR CHANCE!!! There's much more news coming, so check our page every day so you don't miss anything. Read the bulletins we send you!!! And thanks again for your support. Much love, Joe

Justin here,
Just wanted to give everyone an update....so far the tour is going great!! I'm sitting in a hotel parking lot stealing wifi in Rhode Island...thought that would be a good time to post an update!
Right as we were getting ready to leave the van wouldn't start after we were fully loaded and ready to head to New York City!! We had to take off the trailer and have it towed for an emergency fix at some shop in Maryland. Turns out the rotating flux injector was broken...or something like that. They had one in stock, but it wasn't the right one, so the guy still managed to rig it and install it for us on the fly and we were off. We made it too our NYC gig with 5 minutes to spare...it was crazy!!! The show was awesome though....
Getting ready to play KC's Tap tonight in Pawtucket Rhode Island. We'll be posting some pictures and video just as soon as we can so stay posted!!!
PEACE,
Justin

That's right, you read the headline right! The fine radio stations in this list have added songs from our new cd As Lives of One to their playlists! We need your help! Look through the list of stations, call the ones in your area and request your favorite Seventh Seal song from the new album! If we get enough requests, more stations will add us, which means that more people will hear us and who knows what could happen from there! This is our chance, and it's your chance to help us out! Hey everybody, I have to apologize for being late to post my blog, I was working on the new Seventh Seal website. There's still a lot more work to be done, but for now, it sure beats having nothing hosted there. Myspace is still the best way that way have to connect with all of you, but we're hoping to revitalize our email list so that we can start sending out emails keeping everyone updated on all the awesome things that keep coming into the world of Seventh Seal! So, check it out: seventh seal's webpage. For those of you that have been living under a rock (hopefully none of you do) we're going on tour at the end of this month and we are absolutely ecstatic about getting to take our music on the road to our fans in New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont! We're also preparing for our first ever acoustic show! If all goes well, we'll be recording the set so we'll have some goodies to offer our awesome street team! By the way, if you want in on the goodies, and you want to help us promote our music, let us know and we'll get you set up with a street team page! The last couple of shows that we've played we're awesome largely due to the response generated by our street teams! I want to thank you guys for all your hard work! That's all I have for this week, thanks guys, we love you all! - Josh
