Some extra awesome gigs open now on Sonicbids, and the submission fees are FREE!

JanSport® wants to give you a chance to perform at Forecastle 2010.

Winner will be announced at the "Halfway to Forecastle" concert in January 2010 in Louisville, Kentucky. The selected artist will receive up to $5,000 towards any lodging and costs associated with the travel to Forecastle 2010.
How it Works: Artists will be entered into a voting competition where fans will choose 25 semi-finalists. JanSport will then narrow it down to finalists, who will be entered into a second round of fan voting. Free submissions courtesy of JanSport®. Learn More Now >
Taylor Guitars and Elixir Strings present Test Drive 2009.

We’ve just added a new plugin that will let artists link their Sonicbids and MySpace accounts. The MySpace Plugin will allow you to:

•Track your MySpace friend count (along with your Last.fm stats, and Google and Twitter Buzz) all in one place.

•Show promoters your band’s MySpace friend count without them having to leave your submission.

A bunch of us Sonicbidsians are out, soaking up the music and sun at SXSW (Panos, Jim, Steve, Tess, Aliki, Adam and Aimee).

Sadly, my name is absent from the list, but no worries, if you are like me and couldn't get away to Austin this year, we can still check out some of the bands' performances at www.youtube.com/sonicbids

However, if you are already kickin it at SXSW (so jealous) then come visit us at our booth (you can't miss it) and sign up for our raffle. You’re going to want in on this - think Taylor SolidBody Classic electric guitar, Pro Tools 8 Studio Giveaway Pack, Guitar amp, Pocket Pod and Pod Studio by Line 6 and a Sonicbids lifetime membership.

Oh and I can't forget to mention the party we are hosting at Maggie Mae’s on Friday, March 20 (tomorrow) from 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. There will be free drinks, free food, free music, sweet giveaways and a great music line-up. Hit us up at the booth learn more.

Cheers,
Ellie

Most of us are now fully back into work/school mode, so don't let these 2 gig submission deadlines sneak by. NXNE 's final submission deadline is January 31. Summerfest will fill 60 slots with Sonicbids artists. 5 of those slots are reserved for artists who submit before January 31, 2009. All selected artists will be compensated for their performances.

As promised we've built upon the new look for gig listings by adding the ability for any logged in user to upload photos. For example, if you've played CMJ before, you can now head over to the gig listing for CMJ 2009 and add photos of your band's performance.

Why upload pics? It's all about getting even more exposure.
Just make sure your pics are "on topic"
(i.e., show promoters you're a performer not a headshot)

You'll also notice a new rating on each gig listing called the "Pick-O-Meter." This will display the "pickiness" of each promoter. Promoters that are pickier about who they select will have a higher rating on the pick-o-meter.

You can read more about both improvements at the Builder's Blog

And we're not done just yet.
There's still more to come over the next few weeks, so stay tuned.

On January 24th, 2009, Kings of Leon will headline the Dare 2 Dream benefit concert at the House of Blues Chicago to raise funding and major awareness for pediatric cancer research and treatment. Platform One Entertainment, the organizer of the event, is giving one Sonicbids artist an incredible opportunity to open for Kings of Leon and receive $1,000.00 for travel and hotel accommodations.

The deadline to submit is Dec. 5th. View the gig listing for more details

In the months ahead, we will début some awesome improvements to the site, thanks in part to some of your great suggestions.

One of the biggest and awesomest changes is the brand new Status Manager, so improved that we are now calling it the Submission Tracker.

With our new Submission Tracker, you'll GET REVIEWED or GET YOUR MONEY BACK. If a promoter doesn't get back to you by the time they said they would, you have 15 days to withdraw your submission and get a FULL SITE CREDIT.

ALSO

CMJ is helping artists plan early for the CMJ09 Music Marathon. When you submit early you save money AND you have the chance to get booked early.

They have reserved at least 20 slots for artists who submit by December 31 (to be announced by March 11th) and another 50 slots for artists who submit by March 31 (to be announced by June 15th). The deadline for early submission is Nov. 30th.
