GLENN PHILLIPS - HAMPTON GREASE BAND video is NME's featured video:  http://www.nme.com/video/id/zzlpSzXDk-A/search  NME is England's leading music magazine, and the clip is featured with other acts like The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, and Jimi Hendrix.

Also, the Jan. 2009 OXFORD AMERICAN MAGAZINE had this to say: "The Grease Band's guitar player, Glenn Phillips, was better and more interesting as a guitarist than Frank Zappa . . ."
There is a HAMPTON GREASE BAND article in the latest  issue of the Oxford American, as well as a cut from their MUSIC TO EAT album on the double-CD included in that issue. The Oxford American is a highly-regarded, national literary magazine, and this is their 10th anniversary music.  Below is an excerpt from the article by Allen Lowe.

"The Grease Band's guitar player, Glenn Phillips, was better and more interesting as a guitarist than Frank Zappa because, great as Zappa was, he tended to resort to musical patterns in his more complex guitar passages. The Grease Band actually had a real and, unusual for rock & roll at that time, jazz sense of complicated, improvised melodic line."
