That's right!  On October 13, 2009 I became an UNCLE...a monkey's uncle!  The monkey's name is Lily Cathleen.  (You do the math!)  Her mom and dad were gracious enough to let me hold her in my arms within an hour of her birth.  She's a real special kid!

Keep your eye on the pie, Lily!  Lily?  Okay, maybe later...

A quick thank you to all my friends who have done so much for me over the last four months.  Even the smallest gesture has transformed itself into meaningful accord with the memory of Cathy.  She remains as active in my life through your kindness as she was when she was living.  My personal faith has seen me through.  It was a faith that Cathy and I shared.  It was a faith in our fellow man.  If you remained true to yourself, the universe would work through you to provide others with the same courage, vitality and peace.  And that, my dear friends is not bound to this physical existence.

While I have not published any new art in quite some time, the time has afforded me the opportunity to dream.  Art is more than lines on a page, it is a process.  A beautiful process that should not be judged or given restraints.  It is what it is.

Peace
It is not a quiet place with no fear or struggle...it is to be in the midst of those things and achieve harmony.

"SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE!"

WHEN ALL THE BULLIES ARE FORCED TO EAT THEIR HUMBLE PIE THEY WILL LOOK UP AND SHOUT, "SAVE US!"

I'LL LOOK DOWN AND WHISPER "WHA?"

It's been two years since the art world lost a force of fun a creativity. This week as I muddled through life the best I could my thoughts turned to Brett, Kandy, Josh and an extended family of artists that have tried to fill the void that was left when John Styrk Jr. was taken from us by a drunk driver. A lot has happened over the past two years and I wish I could have shared some of that time with John. I know that he would have been a great personal help to me and I feel the loss often and wonder what could have been. Truly, our friendship had just begun but it was to be cut short and I often ask why?

I know many of you have been waiting for the new online installment of WHA? called THE FILLING that places Walter and the gang square in the middle of a classic horror tale. Well, let the emphasis be on the word "stall" but rest assured we are working hard to deliver the goods (and the bads.)

Hopefully we'll have it completed by Halloween...if not, Thanksgiving...hey, there's always Christmas...right?!

I couldn't let the day end without a post regarding Jerry Reed.
Not only because he was one of the greatest guitar pickers in the universe,
or even that he was one of the most talented singer songwriters of country
music, but because he was an inspiration to me and remains so today.

Jerry Reed

When I first thought of WHA FOR? I knew that I would be calling on a lot
of my heroes past and present. I knew that the project may take years,
but I never thought that one of the inspirations would pass before I was able
to finish. Jimmy Proctor is one of the most patient artist I know. He completed
the task of immortalizing Jerry Reed in parody shortly after I gave him the task
to do so. I've made very few images available of the forth coming WHA FOR?
and particularly that of Jimmy's work because it is the soul of the project.

Lucius as Snowcone!

That said, I thought it only right and proper to share with you this picture of
Lucius as "Snowcone". Not only to honor Jerry Reed in his passing, but also
to honor Jimmy who captures so eloquently the spirit of parody and pastiche.

Keep your ears on, Fred!
