Yo yO YO.

As always, for those of you who read these things:

We just got back from our wee jaunt around the country, which to be fair...was AWESOME.
We certainly learned a lot since our last wee tour and all in all, it was sooo smooth. No misdemeanors to speak of in terms of getting to and from places, finding places to sleep, and picking up a few essentials along the way. (Not that there were any the last time round) It just felt good knowing that we'd done it all, working together as a well oiled machine. It was ace. Thanks to Cal, Aaron & Kev for putting' a shift in. Much, much appreciated.

The shows just seemed to get better as the week went on too, so we would like to thank all y'all for making it down, and buying the EP. We vibed it as much as you did. T'wiz banter like. Darren had written (in real time, might I add) a much more, in depth version of tour happenings, so please don't shout at this poor, poor excuse for a blog. I will post up the link when it is ready to unveiled to the world.

We couldn't have gotten the reception we did without the help of all you grrrreat folks who have punted us on their radio shows, podcasts, and blogs. THANK YOU SO MUCH for your support. We will hit you guys up with brand new material by the end of the year, so keep yer eyes and ears peeled, and y'know...if ye feel like giving the EP another spin, please please do!

We have one show left to end our fairly productive year, so if you are in the 'Shire area, head down to Snafu | Dirty Hearts Club | 22nd October | Email or facebook or whatever for free guestlist | x

Keep in touch

Woweeewawa.

As always, for those who read these things:

We have been busy the past few months since the release of the EP, and you will be glad to know, that we are starting to gain some momentum.

First of all, a big thanks to everyone who bought the EP, there are a few copies left so snap em' up folks. Thanks to Ally and his team at Glasgow PodcART for the support they have given us, what with the podcast features and both the release and live reviews. Much appreciated man. We need more folk like these guys to build a dialogue with more bands in our situation, it certainly makes a fucking difference. We'd like to thank everyone who has offered to put us on on our forthcoming ventures into foreign lands. More on that in a bit.

The next coming months will be busy few too. We'll be heading back into the studio to record with our friends Craig and Sam (Union of Knives | 45-a-side Records) with the mindset of another EP release or single, who the fuck knows. Keep yer eyes an ears peeled, for we might have some special releases too. EEEEeeeeta funcy.

Moreover, we will be going on tour again in October. What started with us trying (emphasis on trying) to procure shows around our bonny Scotland, has led to our first continental shows, where we will be playing in Lille, France and Rotterdam, Netherlands. What a fucking beauty. Thanks to Matt and Ronald for hooking a brother up. To boot, we will also be promoting the EP buy (ahhhh, see what I did there) playing an acoustic instore at Hollands leading independant record shop Velvet Records. Mad shit.

Aces eh. If you can make any of the shows, then it would be great to see you all.
Till next time.

P.S. Keep an eye out this week for our feature in The Scotsman's Under The Radar.

We just thought we'd post this cos' it's the first review we've had since we released the EP
way back in May. The wonderful Ally Burton from Glasgow PodcART has said some really kind words about it. Have a spy:

Indian Red Lopez’s ‘Castles Incomplete’ EP is one that I have been dipping in and out of for about six weeks now. When it landed through my letterbox, and I opened it, I was instantly intrigued by the sweet little gate fold digi-pack that it presents itself in, as it is completely delicious to the eye. It was even accompanied by an actual band biography complete with graphics, photographs and a list of upcoming shows.
IRL are certainly switched on and doing things right so far. The fantastic art work of this release was designed by Michael Chang, who also takes up guitar and vocal duties, amongst other electronica type responsibilities in the band. A talented fella it must be said. I was almost scared to put it on and listen in case the beauty of this little package on the eyes was in no way mirrored by it’s audio effect on my ears.
My worries were however completely unfounded. Opener ‘Ropes’ begins with an instantly attention grabbing electro-beat, barrage of synth bleeps n’ blips. As the vocal kicks in with a genuinely emotive sincerity from word one, I knew I was listening to a musical offering that truly lives up to it’s handsome packaging. A pulsing electronica heart beat leads us in to a world of layers and waves with a catchocity that builds and builds, as we progress in to the body of the song proper. Reverb, harmonies, addictive melodic guitar and a thunderous rhythm section sees this five piece take exactly two minutes and forty four seconds to have me genuinely excited in gusts of appreciation for their collaborative offerings.
IRL By Martin Senyszak

IRL By Martin Senyszak

Hailing from the Bonny City of Aberdeen, the rest of IRL are Scott Maskame (Drums n’ related beatification), Danny Forsyth (Guitars n’ Synthy bits), David Cherry (Guitars n’ Vocals) and Darren Forsyth (Bass n’ Vocals). These five chaps manage to combine to produce a stunning combination of pop appeal with utterly credible alternative nuances that differentiate them from the masses, without ostracising the ‘majority’ listener. That, quite simply is a mammoth accomplishment. There are points when I can hear suggestions and inclinations towards Radiohead. I am almost convinced that Thom Yorke would be delighted to have produced any, and all of the four tracks on this EP. It is no wonder that such other gems of the Scottish Music Network as ‘OnTheFly’ (Also an affiliate of the wonderful Fence Collective & King Kreosote Drummer) are having their attention zoned in on IRL. Infact, ‘Castles Incomplete’ features a remix by said gentleman as it’s closing track. It made me dance in my chair.
Something that is very dear to IRL is engaging with their audience. They go that extra mile in order to do so, with onstage visuals and various elements of eye candy treats and trickery in order to create a complete display of audio and visual art for their audience. I love it when a band bother their arse to set their show apart.
Second track ‘The New Black’ begins with a complete shift in direction and haunting, almost ethereal visions are conjured in the imagination with haunting layers of echo-heavy synth and keys. Once more we are then developed along a stepped path of progression to full on popesque emblazoned landscapes as the hypnotic vocal and main hook gradually kick in. Alterno-pop. That’s what this is. It is such a devine potion. My initial appreciation has now, by three minutes and forty eight seconds of track two, developed in to full on wonderment to be honest. This is a special release. ‘The New Black’ is a roller coaster ride of intense up and down musical wizardry. The combination of traditional instrumentation and electro additions is flawlessly linked throughout this entire EP. So many bands half heartledly throw in a bit of synth, or perhaps a drum machine intro, but IRL manage to intertwine the two disciplines in a way that is often inseparable. At a time when I am involved in tinkering with such potential additions to my own musical endeavours with Servant (www.myspace.com/servant noise) I find myself inspired to the hilt, and also very aware that Indian Red Lopez are very much setting the standard for this fine art of musical blending.
The final original track on this EP is titeld ’An Iron Fist’ and by this point that is exactly what I feel like I have had my teeth smashed out by. This track almost positioned here with great insight and awareness from the band that this may be the case, as it has a gentle approach at the beginning. There are little drawls in the vocal and accompanying harmonies that are almost of a folky disposition. As the vocal chants “Come on, come, come on….”, it almost feels like Michael Chang and IRL are willing us as the listener to stay with them, and hold out on sensory blow out until the end. I can only describe this track as feeling like a bit of a re-charge for my battery. It’s like some sort of light just engulfed me and sorted me out in time for more. Visions of Utopia are what IRL hope to induce. I feel that this EP is a musical Utopia. I feel some way transported to some ideal place. ‘Castles Incomplete’ is a visionary system of ideas that I simply love. Whilst writing this, I have listened to it on repeat about seven times. I am convinced that all reasonable people, in possession of all his/her intellectual faculties, will love this EP as much as I do. It makes me think even more why ridiculously bland super groups like Killers, Coldplay and Snow Patrol get away with churning out the music that they do. Listen to Indian Red Lopez - ‘Castles Incomplete’. You will know what I mean. It blows that shit out of the water on so many levels it is scary.
