Well, I finally got around to updating both my web site and my MySpace. Both really needed it...the last major change to either was more than 2 years ago! I've learned so much more (and have so much more 3D content ) in the past couple of years, that a change was very much needed.

Some of the improvements include a whole new design, a new flash gallery, and a newsletter feature.
With the design, I wanted to keep with my original design of a raven-winged gal and a raven with a moon. Having much more content available for my use and a better understanding of my program, I have upgraded that theme to what I think looks much better.
For the gallery, instead of having page after page of thumbnails that you have to click to see the image (and then click the image for a bigger view), I have implemented a flash application. It takes a few seconds to load up the first images, but it's much easier to navigate through what I consider my best work. I don't have all my art viewable, as I have much improved in my work even from a year ago. If you can't view flash or would like to see my older work, (even as far back as 2006, when I first began) then you can visit my gallery at Renderosity. You have to register an account (which is free), but once you do, you'll be able to view all of my art, leave comments on each piece, even add me or specific pieces to a favorites section!
The newsletter is a new thing I thought I'd try. You can find the subscribe (and unsubscribe) links on the artwork and store pages. The newsletter will go out once a week detailing what changes may have been made to the site, that week's additions to the gallery, as well as which pieces are available for purchase as products at DeviantArt and Cafepress (as soon as I get Cafepress up and running again).

So, have a look and I hope you enjoy viewing my art as much as I enjoy creating it!

Haven't updated in a while. I decided since I have my art a few other places online that I really don't need it here as well. For anyone wanting to view my art or interested in web or graphic design, see my website, RavenMoon Designs. My art can also be viewed and commented on at my gallery at Renderosity. I have a bunch of new pieces on both my website and my gallery.

I've added a few new pieces to my gallery (pics)...a couple from May, before the hard drive crash in June, and some from recently. The last two "Darkness And Light" images are for a contest at RenderDreams with the same name. Check 'em all out! And remember, for bigger and better views, visit my online gallery at Renderosity - http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/browse.php?username=RavynGyrl

Another contest has come and gone. I did this one more for fun than anything...as I used to fantasy role-play...so to create a 3D RPG group was a neat little endeavor. I'll post the image to my gallery shortly, but for now, if you have an account at Renderosity, you can see my entry here. I didn't win, but again, for me this was just for fun.

Mother's Day is fast approaching...and if anyone is like me, you haven't gotten your mommy anything for that special day just yet.

Well, it just so happenes that I've been creating an online shop the past couple of days...featuring my 3D digital artwork. And I just created a new design specifically for Mother's Day! There are lots of products to choose from - t-shirts, buttons, magnets, mugs...and much more!

So if you've come to like my art, check out my little shop. I'm feauring Mother's Day items, but I do have a few other designs that I've got up...so why not have a look! As an added incentive, there's a coupon code listed near the top of the main page...don't forget to use it at checkout!

Just click the banner...

We all like to use the profile services that many people now offer. And why not? They make quick work of adding codes to our profiles or to our friends profiles. But how many of these "helping hands" sites are stealing the graphics they use? I'm not sure of that answer, but I do know of one site that does just that...Profile Jewels. It's a pretty popular site, so I've bet many of you have heard of it, if not even used it (like I use to).

I came across that site sometime at the end of last year and had used some of their coding in some of my friends comment sections. Then in January, I happened upon some of my own tags. Well, of course I was flattered for someone to like my work in such a way as to offer it from their site! I kept looking through the site and lo and behold, my tags are everywhere! This person not only liked my tags, it seems, but loved them...I found a devoted fan! All told, there are 71 of my tags on Profile Jewels.

Well, on my own site, I have a Terms Of Use section that states my graphics are not to be distributed by other people. And what the owner of Profile Jewels, Valerie, is clearly doing is against my terms. If I would have found only a couple tags I would have passed right through without a care. But considering the amount she has on that site, I figured a link back to me wouldn't be too much to ask. Apparently, it was.

I contacted Valerie (aka Shadow Wraith) about mid-January about getting a link back to my site on Profile Jewels. I even mentioned I would link back to her site...I have no problem with helping others get traffic. Apparently, she didn't like the competition, because she pretty much snubbed me from the start. She seemed interested in me until she found out I was not the original artist of the art I used to make my tags. Once she knew I couldn't sue her for use of my work, all bets were off and it took her forever to answer any of my messages to her. She even resorted to name-calling at one point! And all I ever asked for was a simple link...or if she didn't want to link me, then the removal of my tags from her site. Is that too much to ask? I don't think so...not with how many tags of mine she has on her site, and going against my original terms of using those tags.

So now it's been about 2 months and she's resorted to ignoring every message I send her. I know she hasn't blocked me, yet, as my messages do get read. I had even contacted her co-owner of Profile Jewels. He said he'd talk to her about it and get back to me. No such luck there, either. He never got back to me and my last message to him is still unread, so I'm guessing I've been blocked. Last I looked on the site, he's no longer a co-owner. So either she's hiding him so no one else can complain about her theiving of graphics, or he's no longer co-owner.

Because of all this, I've been boycotting Profile Jewels. I did like getting graphics from there, but I will not condone the theft of my graphics or anyone else's. Who knows how many other graphics on that site are stolen? Who knows how many other people Valerie has snubbed and called names. I ask everyone who reads this to please do the same. Do not use any codes from that site, as you'd be condoning theft of other's hard work.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a better note, I have decided to add codes to my site for people to use my tags on their profiles. Go to
RavenMoon Designs, click on Link Ware in the bottom left corner. Then go to the Graphics menu, mouse over Sig Tags, and click Codes. You'll find a menu for different sections of tags. All I ask is to leave the whole code (including the link) intact when you post the tags.

Let's hope that no other site has as bad netiquette as Valerie has and would actually link to the people whose graphics they use.

Yeah, I've been entering a lot of contests lately. It's fun to compete against other artsists and the themes give me new creative ideas.

The latest one I've entered is at Planetvixens. It's called Dark Obessions and is a theme about the darker side of Valentine's Day. You can view my entry by going to my gallery. I may enter another image, as the theme is split into two sub-themes...and I'm getting an idea for the other sub-theme.

I should have posted this a while ago, but I've been busy. These are the contests I have entered that have been announced or that are currently running that I have entries in.

Holidays Around The World at Renderosity: didn't place with A Visit From Father Christmas (it was my first contest, and a huge one, and so I didn't expect to place...had fun creating my Father Christmas scene, though)

Gothic Christmas Card at RDNA: didn't place with Merry Gothmas

Render Your Dream at Render Dreams: didn't place with Dreams Of Fantasy, placed 2nd with Marbled Dreams Of Terror

Father Time's Time Machine at 3D Commune: didn't place with Happy New Year

Elements Of Time at RDNA: didn't place with The Passage Of Time

I decided at pretty much the last minute to enter another holiday art contest. I wasn't going to enter as I really had no ideas for the theme, to create a gothic Christmas card...until the site hosting the contest, Runtime DNA, started their 13 Days of Christmas promotion of gothic Christmas freebies! Once I had a few items, an image popped into my head, and I started creating my gothic card.

You can see my contest entry here (though as with the other entry, you'll probably have to be a member...membership is free). This is my 2nd version, as I used a different dress in the first image, but didn't like it as much.
