so we recorded a bunch of demos for our new album that we are currently working on with John Askew (Tracker, Film Guerrero) at Type Foundry. i've decided to take some old stuff off and put some new "demo" versions of songs up. it's kinda like hearing original versions of some of your favorite songs. afterwards you think, thank goodness they got a good producer. one of these is a bob dylan song (Hollis Brown), not sure if that will make it on the album, but i loved that song so much i thought it'd be cool to do a nick cave meets doors version of it.
thanks for listening... -roman candle

Yes, we've changed..sort of. Here's a good answer to the question "Why?"
Good question: "Why this change?" Well, let just say in our 10 year history, we've actually always been changing. Our first album "Guilty Pleasures" sounds nothing like our second album "In a Darkroom" and I think the same for the 3rd and 4th release. But really, the fact is, I'm the only member who's been in the band since the first album 10 years ago. We've had so many changes in the past few years. Mainly, two of our members quit the band during the recording of "NAMES" to pursue their own projects (http://www.antlerand.com/). We spent so much time trying to finish a record that began with 5 people and ended with 3, that we burnt out on it. For about a year we had a new drummer, who didn't really work out so well. In the process, Amy started playing bass and put down the cello because it was too hard to tour with. So our sound began to take yet another direction. Within a year, we decided our drummer wasn't working out, so then we were down to a trio without a drummer. We spent about another year auditioning drummers, but no one seemed to work out. So Jack, who had originally been our bass player and then switched to guitar, decided he'd take a try at playing the drums. Remember it had been well over a year since the release of "NAMES" and by that time we were so unhappy with the way the album turned out and all the changes that happened to the band, that we decided to make music that we could have fun with again. Jack's "bombastic" drumming style, along with Amy's "post-punk" bass lines, shed a new light on our sound. We started having fun playing shows again. In effect, the music became more up-tempo and a lot less serious. I guess I got tired of taking it so seriously. I'm 36, Jack's 43, Amy's 33... I think age has something to do with it too. "It's time to have more fun", was the only way we could make this band work. Otherwise we probably would have ended it 2 years ago. Personally, I couldn't be more happy with music right now. Yes, I agree we have changed a lot over the years, but underneath it all is really the same Song Writer and a still a similar theme of anguish, political anger, and of course you cant leave out our biggest influence: "Sonic Youth". Should we have changed the band name to something different? Maybe so, but we all loved the name Wow & Flutter so much that it was too hard to change it. Also the name "Wow & Flutter" comes from a recording term. It has to do with Tape playback. The "Wow" means to speed up, "Flutter" is to slow down. So, in a sense, we've "Wow & Fluttered" for the past 10 years.
Sorry for the long response, but we've gotten a lot of feedback about our new direction. Some good, some not so good. I just wanted to clarify and vent a little.
Thanks, Cord

This will be an on going thing. Hopefully the songs will get changed often, so keep on your toes. We'll even get some of the old "hits" on here when I get a chance to gather them up and get 'em converted.
