Current mood:  overstimulated

Hello, hello!
Hope everyone had a righteous winter and is as stoked as I, for springtime! I'm a warm weather kinda dude, I tell ya.
We have a rather eventful one ahead. And what better way to extol my stoked-ness...stokedom.....stokafication.....er..um...being ..stoked.. about.. something, than a wee hour, spared moment for a blog update.  Here's what's up in our world:
Of course I must, first, thank everyone who came to Hard Rock in Atlanta for our CD release show late last month!  We had a ball and hopefully you did too!  I would venture to guess that, um, many of you did, as you all, apparently, destroyed the the Hard Rock's previous, long standing bar sales record!  I mean SMASHED it.  I don't say this to boast of our record breaking show, but rather; because...well....we're a little worried about you. Don't get upset but... we think you (our collective crowd) may have a..well...a drinking problem... Hey, easy now; nobody's judging you.  We're just concerned that's all.
I kid, I kid! You guys were awesome and sweet ( and fun loving) and made us feel loved, as always, and we're always taken aback at all of the love and support.  Thanks. Truly.  Much love and thanks, as well, to Siberia My Sweet and James Hall.  Rock.
Onward, onward- We'll set out on a little string of road dates this week, preceded by two solo shows, Wednesday and Thursday, from me in Columbus and then the whole band heads down to Pensacola FL. on Friday.  Always a blast down there when I do solo shows and I'm looking forward to our first time here as a full band.  Then we have a couple of nights in New Orleans, one of which with our friends The Winter Sounds and one with Player/Kommander, a monster of a rock band featuring our dear and much respected soul-brotha, James Hall.  This will be our first time in N.O. since a couple of weeks before Katrina.  So we're happy to be heading back!
Next, we roll into Austin, Texas for everyone's favorite annual. music biz, convergence point-clusterbomb-dog-pile, shit-storm of blurry, blissfulness: South By Southwest.  Last year wore me out and we have three showcases this year, so I'm bracing myself.  Anywhere we can play and also get to catch Echo and The Bunnymen, 8-Ball and MJG (so stoked), and As Tall As Lions, among so many others, in the same scorching hot block, down south is beyond righteous!  Excited indeed.
After that whirlwind, and speaking of As Tall As Lions, we are SUPER-stoked to be heading back down to Florida and opening for them at the State Theatre in St. Petersburg!  If you'd like a little spring break, Floridian getaway, you can get tix on Ticketmaster and DaddyKool.com, and come get some sexy, hot, falseto in ya ear down in St. Pete on March 24th. Wordz.
After that night, I have to zip back to GA the very next for three nights in a row of solo gigs in C-bus and then another in Alabamer.
And then; maybe a quick coma and back to the grind.
So that's our March.  Righteous times, man, righteous times!
Our full length record should be on iTunes soon, but in the meantime try to catch us at a show and grab yo self a copy if you didn't get to the release show.
In the meantime, until we see ya, feel free to hit us up on here and Facebook while we're out spreading the rock.  We love hearing from ya, especially whilst being away from home.  So don't be strangers OK?  Anyway y'all, I suppose I'm becoming delerious so: Stay up, love yo brother and sista, and know our love! Word Life.
Thanks for reading. See you soon.
xoxoxo

Spy For Hire played at Soho in Columbus Georgia on Friday June 25th 2008. After a brilliant set by St. Peterburg's Military Junior, we took the stage and played, for us, one of the most enjoyable sets we've done in a while. No set list, a few random unrehearsed tunes, huge energy; fists, beers, shoes, in the air, all rising to a crescendo in the bridge of the encore tune, Motorcycle, then turning gruesome. Amid the chaos I look to stage left to notice our good friend, former bandmate and often impromptu backup dancer, Gene, who was moments earlier, thrashing about the stage, now lying on the floor. Aaron, who had joined us for Motorcycle, hunched over him. The song ends, the dust and flying beer settles, the crowds cheers curtail into only Gene screaming in pain and a shit ton of blood.

Apparently, during this blur of people going apeshit, a martini glass was broken and ended up on stage, only base and stem. Gene was then impaled in the foot through his converse with the 4 inch Martini stem.

Fucking ouch!!
When the shoe was finally removed after transporting Gene out back into a flatbed truck, the Martini stem looked like a fucked up, giant thumbtack stuck in the shoe.

WANNA SEE!!!????
Scope the album from this show in our pics.

We love you Gene.

Who the fuck drinks fuckin' Martinis?

Thanks for an otherwise awesome show everyone. We appreciate you so much. But we're going with pool rules next time; cans and plastic only. Fuck, I play barefoot! See ya soon, loves.

Cheers,
Ryan and SFH

Thank you guys for a great show last night! We had a lot of fun and it was great to play at home and have all of you come out (especially on a weeknight). James Hall and his band rocked the spot and you guys were a great crowd and hugely sweet, hospitable hosts for which we certainly thank you.
Check it:
As you probably saw; there was some video being taken and if any of you captured any pics or footage, let us know and we have a great interactive sight on the way where you can upload your stuff and we'll comp it all together and hopefully make something rad. Hit us up if you gots some.
We have some new tunes coming out next month, so stay up with us. We hope to see you again this summer. In the meantime take care and stay cool. WE LOVE Y'ALL!
Cheers,
SFH

We’re here at the luxuriously gothic Don Vincente hotel in Ybor City/Tampa with a luxuriously gothic looking producer, James Salter.  We’ve been in a studio today in St. Pete working on some new recordings to be released sometime in May.  We’ll be tracking at Southern Tracks in ATL this week, though, I must say, this March South Florida weather is bangin cuz.  I could stay down here.

We have a show coming up at Lennys in Atlanta on yours trulys birthday, Friday April 11th, so I hope you all come hang.

We’re gonna go out and get some drank now.

see to you soon.

Love,

Ryan
