Spent the evening paimting one side of the car.The temperature dropped and caused some tiger stripes but hey,it beats orange!

So between buying a new miata,selling off 4 of 8 cars,refurbing 2 rooms and dropping a huge chunk of my savings on new home HVAC I've somehow managed to do some work to the Babemobile.Good thing too-the rally is a month away!In the pics section you'll see my new booberific strainer air intakes.There WILL be tassles for the rally.I've also managed to replace the engine driven fan with an electric one,so now it revs over 4k!The front spoiler is mostly installed but the bumper/dive platform will remain off for a cleaner look.The rear bumpers been replaced and the plate relocated.A few more details have been tidied but there is way more left to be done.Not sure i'll be able finish it all before the event,especially since my neighbor might be bowing out on me.That leaves Dad and my uncle as backups.The wheels STILL aren't done,but thats ok since I picked up some cool tire pressure monitors on woot.com to add to the electronics package.More to come-hopefully soon this time!

Update:Not much is new,just been driving waiting for something to break.
Currently working on refinishing the wheels from the barn car so I can move on to the suspension.I need the new tires fitted before I start lowering.Wheel pics uploaded now.I did the worst one first and set it next to the best for comparison.I just hope the other 3 don't take 4 hours too.

Welcome to my first blog.I hate these things,but I need to start documenting the project so here it is.On september 29th 2006-my birthday-I bought a tweaked 1983 BMW 320i for the purpoe of competing in the BABErally.Don't drink and shop on eBay kids-especially with drunk friends egging you on!See www.BABErally.com for more info on this wild event.The story is its a well maintained car that rolled down a driveway into a stone column.The brakes are BRAND NEW and the engine was redone 60k ago.It drives really well but has some niggling problems that for the most part are thankfully cheap to fix.The biggest drawback was a loose frontend and the body damage.A trip to a BMW boneyard in "Bamalama netted me the orange replacement panels for only $150-score!The new year finds things moving along nicely.The original $202 eBay car(with the orange door,hereafter refered to as #1)Now has a safe front end and a few mods that you can see in the pictures.The "barn car"(in primer and in peices,hereafter refered too as #2)was aquired from an honest to dog east tennessee barn for the princely sum of $375-thats $250 plus shipping!It came with many good parts including new front KYBs,a posi rear,header,15"wheels and 15 bees nests.The idea is to build #1 and test it on the BABErally and then transfer all the good parts onto the shell of #2 for the GRM$2007Challenge.The body needs to be further stripped and some dents smothed.#1 will donate a few good panels.Luckily the paint matches the primer so the dented parts will almost match.Yes you read that right,I'm putting beat parts on #1 for BABE!#2 will be painted in the tradition of the BMW art cars by some local artists and bimmer nuts.Can I win the titles for best beater in BABE and best in show at the Challenge with the same car?Hmmm....
