Just in time for Thanksgiving, we wanted to say thanks to Needtobreathe and Serena Ryder for the great tour.  As you may have seen, we took some "alternate routes" on this trip, and we couldn't have traveled with two greater bands who were willing to help us out.

Thanks!

And to you fans...thanks for coming to the shows! It was a great run!

Eric and I are really bored so we thought we'd post this video we made to fill everyone in.

I've never been involved with much charity work in my life, but recently came across the opportunity. A friend of mine asked me to create a website for her local charity to help raise money for the Mac Aids Fund. They have contributed over $135 million, to the stigma of HIV and AIDS, since the fund started in 1994. Every fall, each store coordinates an event, and we came up with this website as an easier way for people to help a great cause.

Every dollar counts and will be matched by MAC. As an extra incentive, there is a free download of our song, "All That I See", and the two highest donations will receive our entire catalog for free. Aside from donating myself, this website and the giveaway is all I have to offer. Please donate something if you can, and support the Alternate Routes efforts to contribute more than just music. Thanks!

TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT
Starting in early September, The Alternate Routes are embarking on two exciting tours: Will Hoge in September followed by NEEDTOBREATHE with Serena Ryder in October.

WORD FROM THE BAND
“There have been a lot of exciting things on the horizon for the Alternate Routes and now they are just around the corner. We are hitting the road with long time friend Will Hoge for a trip up and down the east coast, and then we are headed west for a string of shows on the west coast with a talented band called NEEDTOBREATHE. This time around wewant to make sure we tell as many people about the shows as possible. Help us spread the word. We have a new website and there is plenty to do. See you at the shows, there are plenty of ways to get in for less, if you bring two other people, or volunteer to sell merch. Money is tight for everybody. Enjoy the rest of the summer and see you in the fall in a city near you......

On July 24th we will be playing a "Rock and Blues Cruise" in Boston Harbor. We did this a few years ago and it really is a good time.

If you buy tickets online (rockandbluescruise.com) on July 9-11 (this Thurs-Sat), there will be discounted tickets available ($18 instead of $25) by using the promotion code "AR". This is as cheap as it's going to get, so if you plan on going I would make use of this. (It's 21+ since it's a booze cruise, so sorry about that if you are too young.)

See you on the boat...

The Limited Edition Alternate Routes “Obamicon” is available now to mark President Obama's 100th day in office.  In January, Paste Magazine launched the Obamicon.me website, which allowed users to upload their own customizable images inspired by Shepard Fairey's iconic "HOPE" poster.  Between April 24-May 4 only, Obamicon.me will feature The Alternate Routes along with other Paste favorite artists and celebs in Fairey's recognizable red, blue and cream color scheme.

Through Paste's online storefront partner, Zazzle, these artists' custom Obamicons are available now for fans to order on-demand as posters, t-shirts, coffee mugs or a variety of other products.

For those of you in Connecticut, we'll be playing for free at 3pm Saturday, April 25th at the Meriden Daffodil Festival (daffodilfest.com) along with a bunch of other Connecticut bands. The forecast says it's going to be 80 degrees out. There will be food, flowers and music everywhere. I'm just sayin'...

Then we've got late night practice to work up some stuff for the Carbon Leaf tour. Any long-neglected songs we should work back into the set? Leave a comment if you've got one for us.

Oh, and just out of curiosity, how many of you have downloaded "Quiet Highway Road"? It's available on Itunes here for 99 cents. We recorded it along with the rest of "Sucker's Dream" in Nashville, but Itunes is the only place you can get it. It was recorded with us all playing live together in the studio, and if you listen closely you can hear birds chirping from right outside the window (no studio edits happened here. They just happened to chirp at the right times). Check it out if you haven't.
