.............. Hello friends! It's good to be writing on here again. I took a bike ride the other day, and it was very pleasant. Seriously, if you bundle up it's not too nippy outside. I rode to a small bridge which arcs over a small pond. I paused here and examined the frozen water. It's interesting how captivating, engrossing, and dense nature is when examined in silence. I knelt down and (of course) tested the strength of the ice with rocks, then a foot, then two feet. I had made my mind up at that point, I suppose.
:)
It was a universe of detail, solitude, and icy terrain. It's hard to believe it was simply a pond in Townsend. That moment made me feel so small, and yet so watched, loved, cared for, and held...
"Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand
and marked off the heavens with a span,
enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure
and weighed the mountains in scales
and the hills in a balance?"
...by the Lord.
I snapped a photo of it the day after, and it didn't do it justice. :(
We've begun developing a new song, entitled Tin Cans Rattling (Wherever It Beats). Landon rushes up the acoustic guitar, I am playing bouyant bass, Andrew is enjoying it all, and Aaron has a neat little melodica part. Drums will, almost certainly, be fantastic.
We can't wait to complete it and dance with you all at a future show.
hosanna, in the hightest! -levi

'A Rescuer comes, not to break my reed back but to build it back together!' Isaiah 42 is beautiful, so is Isaiah 53... 53....This chapter describes the gift and my Lord, my God, the giver. The child who grew up, as songwriter and poet Bill Mallonee put it, "in the shadow of a cross..." He continues, "Where you take on more than you could know and more than I'd want to say. I picture you there a long time ago and I do it everyday." The birth of a King is recognized on December 25th, may I remember it! "He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth." Is. 53:7 I am not certain what I am trying to say, I just can't help but write this. A Rescue, the greatest gift! Be with family, forgive someone, help someone ( indirectly is fine, but looking someone in the eye and extending love is exhilarating and beautiful), read more books, watch less television, turn off computers, talk to those around you and not those in someplace else by fragile prose, serif font, and keypad stroke, and for a moment be quiet! God may be talking. "Upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed!" Is. 53:5 peace, peace, peace, came to earth, -levi

Its been a really great weekend! We'd like to thank everyone who came out and listened to us. We really enjoy doing this for a great bunch of folk like you. Last night was the first time in a long while that I've thuroughly enjoyed playing music in this band. I think I was truly at ease and able think about what I was doing. I probably should thank Shane for that. He was a great host and I'm sure many who attended would agree. I think God still has a way for this band in our short time left of high school. God definitely showed me that last night. A month ago, I was really ready call it quits, I was'nt feelin' it anymore. It had gotten to the point where I was looking at the month of January on the calender and marked the date when I was to be officially done with BetweenBlue. I can say now that I'm not done yet. I don't really know how my band mates feel, but I'm ready to give it all I can possibly give in the winter and spring. So watch out Newark and Middletown!!! Were gonna come like a storm this time.

hello friends far and wide and near and coming to one of our shows this weekend. and if you're coming to both, we will deliver fancy chocolates to your doorstep. :)
maybe you've heard them, but maybe not. we will be playing two new (meaning not on the album) songs at both of these shows, which is very exciting for us! we are very grateful we have continued to write and are treasuring the moments together. I imagine we will close the show with Andrew's "Hospital Beds," for which the lyrics are unbeknown to me. Still, sing "We are changed, we are not the same...etc." with all of your might at the end.
Here are the words for Marbled Sky (O the Wonder):
............
All that I believe in. All that the future means to me. All that my past built in me All that peacemakers hope for. All that this world deserves. All that comes to the slave who endures All that makes me afraid All that removes fear All that forms a festival of friends All that my sins warrant All that glass tubes can’t cure All that death takes away All that life takes back All the earth cries out for The rocks and the bowed ground Giving way to the millennia of mistakes cry out! A rescuer comes, not to break my reed back But to build it back together. And I’m looking over my square wooden socket shoulder Jutted and altogether immovable And I think I saw a marbled sky and the hope of hopes Coming down! In a dream or in my eye, could it have seen? Could it have been? O! The wonder I feel! All that I’ve come to become, And all that I wish I was I might have been more prepared if you would have stopped by tomorrow, But everyday I can begin a new life! It is becoming, It Has Happened NOW.
give thanks with a grateful heart, levi

Hello my dearest Between Blue friends,
Thanks again to all who attended our release show. I've gotten great feedback on the new Ep. Its such a pleasure to be at each show and see everybody smiling. Its such a fine thing when you see a successful event happen before your eyes. A celebration of our hearts. Singing very personal things in a very casual setting. Pouring out your heart with out any shame. I can't believe this band has come this far and that we still have some will-power to keep pressing on. I'm pressing on. I'll keep writing, I'll keep singing to sky. I wonder where God is in the universe. We look up to the sky as if angels can see us so enviously. Maybe he dwells in the ground. maybe not. Maybe he exists far beyond this galaxy. I don't know, I just know he exists. So I took a dose of Benydryl and I'm tired. My head has been slouched over this keyboard for an hour or so.
So I'm recommending you two great artists:
-Breanne Duren
-Weaver at the Loom
Enjoy life.
Andrew E.

I am joyous/excited to tell all friends and foes that after a year of recording and mixing and rewriting in between busy schedules we are done our album. !!!
'The Almond Tree Blossoms' is a document more than anything. The album caught us in the midst of growing up and growing closer, and the songs are a bit of a mismatched patchwork, but a quilt nonetheless, although the actual packaging isn't quite warm.
But there are good things in there, and good things are coming amidst the uncertainty of tomorrow. 'Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams' has been central to the title, artwork, and content of the album.
And if anyone is interested in buying approximately 920 albums, let us know.
:)
bye friends, levi

Between Blue is not a band. Between Blue was a name a bunch of friends thought up to better vocalize what we are about. Landon Maloney, Aaron Maloney, Levi Sikes, Nathan Gioconda, and Me are all good friends. Not a band. We are friends that have chosen to give of our talents for the cause of growing together and, in turn, growing in Christ. We are not a band. We are a cause. No we don't hold conventions or parade down the street with big signs saying "We love Jesus". We, However, play shows, hone our skills with our instruments, love people, give God the glory. If God didn't have a place for this band, our very profile picture makes absolutely no sense. I don't want to be fake about my music ever again. I don't want to play another show, have another picture taken of me, record another song, go to another gosh darn practice without thinking of how God feels looking from above. As long as we still play shows from our hearts, God is smiling. That thought just gives me the driving need to live like the undeserving holy saint I am.
THank you for giving of yourselves, my friends. yes you guys, my bandmates, my friends.
Andrew

Hey friends. I witnessed a peculiar string of events today, as they happened to/because of me. Friends, take the opportunity of silence to let anger just float off. Today, I was tromping around the kitchen complaining about nothing of particular importance but of course treating it like the world hanged in the balance.
I was asked to husk some corn, but my mom directed me outside. It was right then I realized that every single event, turn of events, or change of events (read: scheduling a practice) is an opportunity to be patient, peaceable, calm, ,,,,,, as I find myself being carried from grace to grace, I am often dragged low to the ground. If only I had the foresight to tuck up my legs!
So in the silence of frustration, the frust. slowly became feigned, till I didn't know why I should be angry. pray for others when you are angry, because brooding is awfully selfish, and praying needs to be unselfish.
I have clothes and I am being called to eat a meal in my kitchen, in my house! Jehovah Jireh is great.
Another thought during the corn husk: who am I to judge another man? the way of Christ is first pure, then peaceable, and I have no authority to badmouth another human soul.
Peace, levi
