We are so excited to announce that Souljourners were chosen as "Best of Fest" in the music portion of the Temcula Valley International Film and Music Festival!! With over 300 entries from all over the country, we are beyond thrilled to have been chosen as finalists, much less win the entire thing!

A HUGE thank you to all of you who came out to La Cereza Winery Saturday night!!
We are so very thankful for all our loyal family, friends and fans who stayed late to see us perform and voted for us....THANK YOU!

We had a blast this week at all the events and screenings and also want to thank everyone involved in putting on this stellar festival!!!

HEy everyone! Michael here. I am just giving you all an update! Yes we have been off the road for a little while but we are now ready to hit it hard! We just recently got a new drummer! Paul Zimmer he can destroy a drum set!! We also have added various covers to our live show featuring out influences! Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Depeche Mode the rest you have to see us live.

New music! We have been promoting Mind Control and will continue to do so! But for those of you who have been waiting for us to release something new! All i can say is 2009 is the year for you! We are currently writing another concept which we set the goal of 2009 to release! I can give you some hints about the story! It will involve A very advanced computer which was designed to protect the human race, also involve extinction as well as various elements of Quantum Mechanics and a TWIST!!!!!! Our band very strongly believes in telling stories through music form all the while relating a message to our listeners to wake up and make a difference! We view our albums like you would veiw movies and try to make it as entertaining as possible! One more thing i can say is there will be some of SJ's hardest and kickback moments in this album! So Come see us live!!! And Talk with us! Have Coca-Cola on the rocks. Talk about music!

Souljourners - Mind Control
2008

This is exactly what the radio has been missing for almost two decades.  A band that isn't afraid to incorporate ripping lead guitar solos within aggressive melodic music.  
Souljourners hits hard from the first track "Permanent Scars."  Michael Couts' voice reminds me of James Hetfield.  Couts also plays the guitar in the band and he is a wicked guitarist.
"Crazy Times" is quite honestly a lead guitar players paradise.  Couts shares soloing with Def Leppard's Phil Collen.  These two guys hit the launching pad at the four minute nineteen second mark and then the notes fly back and fourth at lightning speed and the guitars are revved up to the max for over a minute and half.  Awesome is probably not a strong enough world to describe it.
Couts doesn't stop there as he tears into the next track "Fall."  I love the way the band breaks open the hole for Couts to fire away another solo.
"I've waited" could easily be on the radio.  But don't think this is a sugar-coated ballad.  It's melodic with the bite of a pit-bull.  The guitar is heavy and aggressive and Couts sings a great tune.  The guitar-piano volley is exciting and a thrill to listen to.
Couts tears up the strings as a crowd chant screams "Sapphire World."  The whole band joins in the fun during this instrumental.  Paul Ellinson's keyboards really shine, while David Brockinborough shocks the foundation on bass and Chandler Taylor bashes the skins.
The guitar an drums are syncopated with the nasty rhythm in "Half Life."
The rocking groove in the middle of "Mind Control" jumps back and fourth between the guitar and keyboard.  The bass and drums keep up and add to the powerhouse instrumental.
The keyboard riff in "Tangent Universe" is wild and Couts drops bombs with his guitar.
"The Avenger" has a choir singing back-up vocals, which gives the song the feel of something larger than life.
Souljourners are an exciting band and Mind Control has everything to love if you are a hard rocking fan.
Mind Control was released last year and I want to apologize to the band and you for not getting this review out sooner.  Because you should know about this kick ass CD.

Fra Temecula i California kommer Souljourners. Et progressivt hardrock/metall band som forteller en følelsesladet historie om fremtidens samfunn. Dette gjøres av noen fullblods rockere, men med noen ofte svært proggete arrangementer. Vokalen er virkelig god på denne skiva, og melodiene fremstår som så sterke at ettertiden kanskje vil gjøre dette til en klassiker? I tilegg er musikerne åpenbart meget dyktige, og kanskje snakker vi om de neste store innen denne sjangeren? Tankene våre går umiddelbart til debutene til Dream Theater og Queensryche. ”Mind Control” inneholder alt hva selv den mest kresne prog-metall fan kan begjære, og tilføre mye friskthet og nye spennende vinklinger. Keyboardene til Paul Ellingson tilfører så mye særpreg til Souljourners musikk, at det er en fryd å lytte til. Plass til soloer og brennende samspill gis det også. At Michael Couts synger ypperlig er allerede nevnt, men jammen er han ikke like suveren på gitaren. Med vekt på følelse og å formidle vil han sannsynligvis røre mange nærmest til tårer. Låtene er overraskende nyanserte til å komme fra så unge utøvere, og har nok trøkk og dynamikk til å tilfredsstille de fleste. Bredden i utrykket er også gledelig stort, og det er en lydmessig nytelse å høre Souljourners spille. Et vakkert, heftig og storslått album vi gir vår fulle kreditt til.

From Temecula, California is Souljourners. A progressive hard / metal band that tells an emotional story about the future society. This is done by some full-rockers, but with some often very proggete events. The vocal is really good on this CD, and the melodies are perceived as so strong that the time may make this a classic? In addition musicians are obviously very talented, and maybe we talk about the next big thing in this genre? Our thoughts go immediately to the debut of Dream Theater and Queensryche. "Mind Control" contain all that even the most discerning prog-metal fan could desire, and provide much fresh and new exciting sparkle. Keyboard to Paul Ellingson adds so much to the distinctive character Souljourners music, that it is a delight to listen to. Holds solos and passionate interaction is also. At Michael sings great court has already been mentioned, but he sure is as rich on the guitar. With the emphasis on feeling and to convey, he will probably touch many almost to tears. The songs are surprisingly nuanced to come from as young practitioners, and has NOK punch and dynamics to satisfy the majority. The breadth of the phrase is also good, and it is a pleasure to hear the sound Souljourners play. A beautiful, fiery and magnificent album we give our full credit.

Souljourners...... soul-journ-ers

So when ever i tell people the name of our band they ask huh? what does that mean, like are you a funk band? Well i am here to tell ya no we are not a funk band though we can play it! It derives from the word sojourner which is a person who resides temporarily in a place or sojourn literally meaning a temporary stay. So replace that with soul! now meaning a soul that temporarily resides in a place, ad journ representing a journey or many stops along the way alongside the theory of Astral Projection or a souls out of body journey to various astral planes while still in a living human. There are 4 of us making the word plural Souljourners and we travel in soul form through our music to various astral planes in the universe right in front of you live you just don't know it. need i go further in depth? We are like transformers there more than meets the eye! so while on our upcoming summer tour we will be sojourning the U.S! ha!
