Tuesday Heartbreak - Poor Little Rich Girl/Tuesday

Timeless British pop that brings to mind everyone from The Beatles to the Kinks and Magic Numbers to Belle And Sebastian. 'Poor Little Rich Girl' begins with a drum roll then a spiralling guitar pops its head around and spins you around facing the sky and gives you a little wink to make you smile.

Telling the story or a rich girl who finds it hard to make friends and tells tales of love, family deaths, beaches in the south of France and settling down before 33. This could be about anyone of the well-known fashionistas in London, but this matters little as it all about the ridiculously infectious melodies and "whooooo" harmonies.

'Tuesday' follows a different path, musically it follows a little of Bloc Party's early work but this has far more melodies. Most notably the chiming guitar and minimal drumming during the verses gives it an edgy quality and the vocals have a less poppier approach to them.  A promising debut.

Tuesday Heartbreak - Poor Little Rich Girl/Tuesday..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Surrounded by the vibrant and spirited London music scene, Tuesday Heartbreak have managed to emerge as an up and coming band that is not afraid to do something just a little bit different. Counting for half of their double-A side release, Poor Little Rich Girl with its hint of summery hues is quite unlike anything else scanning the current music radar.

'They expertly compliment their own unique and buoyant sound with more traditional undertones not too dissimilar to the

mighty Beatles themselves'.

Right from the beginning of the track, Poor Little Rich Girl simply oozes excitement in a sense that our enjoyment of listening stems mostly from their enjoyment of performance. A melodic mix of pop and rock, Tuesday Heartbreak quite expertly compliment their own unique and buoyant sound with more traditional undertones not too dissimilar to the mighty Beatles themselves. What impresses most, however, arrives with the powerful guitar solo emitting such radiance that it makes you wish only that this performance were live. A delight to listen to on a summer afternoon, this track proves that Tuesday Heartbreak are indeed ones to keep an eye out for later this year.

Accompanying Poor Little Rich Girl is the slightly subdued yet equally melodious Tuesday. Although perhaps not as immediately striking as its counterpart, Tuesday is nevertheless still a track not to go unheard. The near-ballad provides a contrast to the more upbeat Poor Little Rich Girl, and so the duo compliment each other very well indeed. Weaving in unique guitar arrangements and fresh chords, this track is nicely polished off with its mellow and colourful vocals, brimming with British charm. What stands out most about this track in particular, is its ability to flaunt its innovation; a quality that many artists tend to lack, especially within the contemporary music scene. It is Tuesday Heartbreaks choice of inspiration over recreation that really allows them to shine, in a way that no other could.

Tuesday Heartbreak, this was a late entry I understand, did rock my sock off, and I could easily spend an entire evening shaking to their melodic rock songs. Look at them on stage and you find four different individuals, all demonstrating their art with a lot of heart and soul, especially young Mickael on drums. The songs had nothing to do with the demos on myspace, they were just wonderful live gifts to the audience, pure raw rock.
