................................
.. ..
....I have two things to tell
all of you about....
....
1. PAK is doing a gig this coming
Saturday night.
....
2. Les
Instants Chavirés, a very important club in ....Paris...., needs you to sign their online petition to stay
alive. ....
....
July 25 - Olive’s 118 Main Street, Nyack, New
York
118 Main Street, Nyack, ....New York.... ..9:00 PM......
PAK with No Use For Humans and Giggle The
Ozone ....
PAK
is doing a concert just outside of ....New York City.... and up the ..Hudson River.. a bit,
in ....Nyack.., ..New
York..... It is not often that we get the chance to
play in the suburbs so we are looking forward to getting out of the city for
the day and playing some of the new music we have been working on. No Use For Humans invited us to
play this show with them and our old friends Giggle The Ozone. ....
PAK will be playing all the
music that will be on our new CD coming out this autumn.
....
Save Les Instants Chavirés....
Les Instants
Chavirés is a club located just
outside of ....Paris.., ..France..... It is a very important stop of
all adventurous musicians on tour in ..Europe.. and a very special
part of the music life in ....Paris..... If
you go to ....Paris.... plan a trip one night to Instants Chavires to see
some great music. Free jazz or Improvised rock, drums or laptop for the last 18
years this is the place to hear something different, something new, something exciting.
Think of the Stone here in ....New York City.... or the now defunct Tonic. ....
But Les
Instants Chavires is in need of your help, the General Council of the
Seine-Saint-Denis Department has cut the money that the club has been promised
by 18 percent, and it looks like this is just the start. This club is vital to hundreds
of musicians not only in ....France.... and ..Europe.., but all over the world. We cannot lose this place! Please sign the petition at http://instants.mollo.fr
(they will send you a confirmation
email, you will need to respond to it to confirm)

I sent in a work for Village Nomade Radio and it was posted 6/21/08. It is a sound recording that I made during my travels in Morocco in 1999. I add a guitar track at my home here in Brooklyn this week. It works quite nicely. You can hear it at http://www.jourparjour.net/radio/daypieces/June/21/today.htm
Here is some more information about Laboratire Village Nomade.
an audio play created during the 214 days of Laboratoire Village Nomade: This audio project will take place over 7 months (May-Nov 2008) at La Corbière. Radio Village Nomade is an audio play we will broadcast via internet radio and FM transmission, day by day, for 214 days. Some parts of the audio play will also be broadcast by European public radio stations.
The audio play will be created by invited artists in addition to internet contributions from artists and sound manipulators all over the world. Radio Village Nomade is a virtual space created to hold the sound experiences of us all. The aim of this project is to cultivate works out of sounds which were designed without the intent to distinguish themselves from others, sounds that highlight the ever changing moments that make up our collective realities. Each day's piece will be a "window" into a life and sound world different than our own. Recognizing that global politics currently impose a climate of demarcation between peoples, our goal is to provide a context for creative cooperation that supersedes nationality and ethnicity and finds common ground in art. Radio Village Nomade is curated by MaryClare Brzytwa and Sudhu Tewari, musicians and sound artists from Oakland, California, both graduates of the Mills College Center for Contemporary Music, in Oakland, California. Invited sound artists/musicians, such as Misa Shimomura, Theresa Wong, Fred Frith, Kristoff.K.Roll, Balts Nill, and Young Gods will also work on the project. All other projects during the year will find also a platform through the independent radio station.

Pak, live 3/28 at the Stone, was quite a show. The newly formed version of Pak might have left some wondering what would happen without Jesse Krakow, but the new line-up shows that this isn't an imitation of the old, but a wholly new thing. Varying amounts of frantic, synchronized playing (as expected), more ambient noise pieces (less expected), some nice established grooves (think parts of L'Hotel Plastique), chess references, keyboard sounds that brought back memories of Mr Bungle's first album, some synchronized sax and trumpet playing, a nigh-hardcore song in Spanish, an amazing drum solo in a time signature that felt like it might be 29/16 or 31/16, and equipment emitting an interesting plastic smoky smell made for a memorable night. The new Pak has a tendency to fall into grooves more easily than the old (Ron is a bassist now!), which makes for a different sound - not a bad thing at all. Keith Abrams was in top form that night, and newcomers Jason Berry and Tim Byrnes did a good job of filling up the soundspace left wide open by the bass and drum backdrop. Overall, a fun show! From Bad Alchemy Magazine by Rigobert Dittmann RA SOUNDS (Brooklyn, NY) Der PAK-Release Motel (Ra007) ist zwar von 2005, aber was Ron Anderson macht, ist auf unabsehbare Zeit brandaktuell. PAK ist Andersons Avant-Ding neben The Molecules (-> BA 56). Da leuchten die Augen eingedenk alter SST-Herrlichkeiten (Alternatives, Blind Idiot God, Gone, Universal Congress Of, Zoogz Rift).

Review: FRIENDS CD+DVD (RA Sounds/CD Baby) Artist: RON ANDERSON & THE MOLECULES Ox-Fanzine / Ausgabe 73
(9) (Jenny Kracht)
