BasketCase Boutique is on vacation! Unfortunately, due to financial difficulty, BasketCase is being forced to take a semi-permanent purchasing hiatus. For those to whom I have made tentative deals with, I apologize that I can't complete them at the time being. Everyone is encouraged to continue to send your work and webpages! I am keeping track of the best handmade toys on the web and hope to be back on track and buying your art as soon as possible.

Many of my faithful followers,
BasketCase has been experiencing a period of change and rebirth. Due to circumstances, it is not always possible to keep up with email during such times. I apologize profusely if I have been late answering or not done so at all.
I love all of you dearly though I cannot express it. Keep the communication open, for without it, we will all wither.

P.S. If you would like to be included on the BasketCase mailing list, please send your email and snail mail address in a message on this account.

BasketCase Webstore is set to launch in May, so I need stock! I've already negotiated purchases with some artists on here, but if we haven't conversed yet, this is your chance! I want toys, dolls, clothes, hats, jewelry, prints, ashtrays, sculpture, books, and cards, but they should be either handmade or self manufactured. Please read to blog post about purchasing information and email me: basketcasestore@hotmail.com
I look forward to hearing from new artists.

Several of you delicious artists have been so kind as to email me with inquiries about selling at Basketcase boutique. Basketcase wants all kinds of homemade art, but I like dolls and toys best! Of course I want to see sculpture, statues, clothing, jewelry, household items, and 2D art as well.
First of all, if you are at all interested, please do not hesitate to contact me, as I am generally a friendly boutique and try to reply promptly and politely whenever possible. Because the same questions are being asked, I will offer a brief layout of my buying and selling practices for any who are curious yet timid.
BUYING:
Basketcase buys all art outright; there is no consignment allowed at Basketcase! I firmly believe artists should get paid what they are worth. For items like dolls, I prefer to buy in groups of 3 to 6. The amount I purchase depends on the price and the amount of work the artist wants to do. For example, if you want to sell me your dolls at $50 a piece, I may buy 3, but if the dolls cost $30 each, I will raise the number in the order.
PRICES:
As already stated, Basketcase works with the artist, not against. I want everyone to feel good about the transaction and feel they got what they were worth. I will not ask anyone to adjust their prices for me, only to be aware that the prices will affect the amount I may buy. After the items arrive, they are marked up for retail (generally 40-50%) to be sold at the boutique.
CREDIT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY:
When Basketcase purchases items from you, I am buying the right to resell the item only. All original copyright still belongs to the artist. However, there is one thing I request to have, and that is the right to photograph your work for flyers and advertisements. If this is not something you want your work included in, please inform me so there are no problems later. Credit is given to the artist or makers for each item, usually on the tag. If there is a website, phone number, or other artist information, that can also be included. I want this to be a positive art community experience.
It is my sincerest wish that I have been able to dispel or ignite fears in the minds of my artist friends, and that they will not fail to contact me if there are further questions, and for everyone to enjoy and make the most of the fresh virgin year that offers itself so cordially to our creative whims.
