The One More Girl Series has donated $100 from our September 5th show to the Julie Martin Memorial Fund.  Julie was a woman committed to improving the lives of families.  We will be making future donations to this worthy cause.  Please read the article at the link provided for more information about Julie and her contribution to the women of our community.

Current mood:  bouncy

Hey Ya'll,

The planning committee met last week to start working on the January 19th, HUGE One More Girl Show.  We will have music in all three rooms at Southgate House, as well as, a photography display and silent auction in the Gallery.  The lineup is almost finished and I will post it as soon as it's written in stone.  I can gurantee you it's chock full of great talent, in a wide variety of styles.

Last year we had approximately 540 in attendance and ended up with a donation to Pink Ribbon Girls that topped $4000.  We are hoping to sell the show out this year and to raise even more money!

Stay tuned for blogs that will show photos and interviews as we work on this project over the next few months.  The lovely and talented, Hannah Roberts, of City Beat will be writing about the show and the preparation and who knows what other cool aspects of this thing.  Sara Ruth, the professional photographer volunteering her time for this event, will be displaying her pics in relation to the series in the gallery, as well as we'll post some in the blog here! (www.myspace.com/onemoregirl) Thanks to both Hannah and Sara for capturing this as we move thru the process and to the actual show!

We picked The Pink Ribbon Girls as the organization for the benefit because so many of the musicians and volunteers have mothers, sisters, friends, aunts, cousins, that have dealt with breast cancer.   Even one special musician that experienced it first hand at 31 years old, has been instrumental in organizing, playing and advocating via One More Girl.  Of all the shows I have put together, as founder of The Rivertown Music Club, this one, without a doubt, is the epitome of community and music working together for the good of everyone.

I hope you'll follow along as we plan the Second Annual Whole House show (you can subscribe to our blog) and that you will mark your calendar and plan on being with us at the show.  Again, below are the details!

If you haven't discovered Patty Griffin yet, please check her out!  She is an incredible singer/songwriter and she's in our top friends (of course).

Here are the words to her song about being "One More Girl On A Stage"

I took off my iron smile
Because I found it weighed me down
Tomorrow when the world wakes up
I'll be in another town

You don't know what you want
But at this moment it could be me
You move your hand across my knee
Turn me into some novelty

Yes I'm one more girl on the stage
Just one more ass that got stuffed in some jeans
And it's one more day that you don't find true love
Because you don't know what it means

Did you ever take the time to
Think about who I might be
Where I've been
What I'm thinking
Who I love, what I seen

I'm one more car out on the road that
You might pass on your way home
Someone's sister, someone's wife or
Just some bitch who's probably
Got no life, yes I'm

One more girl on the stage
Just one more ass that got stuffed into jeans
Just one more day that you don't find true love
Because you don't know what it means

One day we'll be a pile of ashes
For the best of time, it passes
So take your hand off my knee
Do you know what it means to be

One more girl on the stage
Just one more ass that got stuffed in some jeans
Just one more day that you don't find true love
Because you don't know what it means
