The second event of my "epic music week" (well actually it would be considered my third event if I include the
Fall Out Boy / The All-American Rejects / Hey Monday concert I won tickets to), was the
New Found Glory sidewave at Manning Bar.
I had never been to Manning Bar before so a) I had no idea how to get there and b) wasn't sure what their camera policies were. I managed to get there after getting lost in a 30 min walk from the station but ends up, though, I arrived
wayyy too early, and it wasn't until hours when other people started arriving.
Upon entry, Maggie and I got our most preferable spots; centre-right front of the barrier. Being directly in the middle is not a good idea if you primarily want to shoot the gig, and for some reason I just don't like being on the left side of the barrier. I now love the Manning Bar as security weren't that strict, and it was perfectly fine for me to use my SLR all night without a pass.
Ace Enders played a nice, laid-back set. He seemed really nice and had a strong voice. Photography-wise, it wasn't that special. He sat on his stool during the whole set and only a yellow light was on him. I took a few pics but they all ended looking pretty much like this:
Ace EndersNext up was
Houston Calls who really got the crowd going. All I've got to say about them is the asian keyboardist is ca-raaazzzy.
Houston CallsHellogoodbye was next and this would've been my second time seeing them live. Maggie was really depressed when she learnt that the former drummer, Chris, had left (she had a big crush on him when we saw them in 2006). If I were to compare the two times I've seen them, I was a lil disappointed in their choice of songs for this gig. Nevertheless, they put on a good show and Forrest was as cute as ever.
HellogoodbyeFinally after what seemed liked FOREVER for the NFG roadies to set up (although one had a pretty hilarious shirt on):
"I am working. Don't ever talk to me and get the fuck away from my console"New Found Glory came on stage and rocked the house out! This show is probably in my top 5 concerts
ever.
New Found Glory (Jordan came into the crowd so many times. I pretty much hand-raped him)Though it wasn't so much as NFG being so amazingly incredible live (although they did sound pretty tight!), it was the atmosphere that really got me going. Crowd was fucking crazy as, sweet marriage proposal was sweet;
(this image btw is on steve's (guitarist of NFG) blog. check it out! www.steveisthereason.tumblr.com)and the wave of fans landing on the stage and rocking out sealed the deal:

(lol @ Chad's face on the left)
I was bruised and wet by the end of the night but I had enjoyed myself. However, when the show finished my night didn't. When Mag and I sat on the grass to cool off, we were told not to sit there and was redirected to the other side of the street. Thank god for that because we were actually redirected to Jordan (singer) and Chad (guitarist) of
New Found Glory!
WARNING: I look like shit. Post-mosh look is not so pretty.
Jordan and I (I love his awkward/scared face. He's probably intimidated by me. I think it's 'cause of my height ;) lol)
Chad and IOverall, excellent night! ... except for a few memory card space problems. During the beginning of NFG my memory card became full (which I had no idea why but soon realised I had other files stored in it). This was quite annoying as I had to quickly delete files whilst staying alert for good photog moments. What did I learn from all this? Do not leave big files stored in a memory card the night before you'll be using it for a concert!
