Last night was the return of the COCL tour to the stage and we took to the Melody Inn in Indianapolis.

Alex Zander of MK Magazine hosted a kick-off party for Horrorhound Weeken, a major horror convention featuring celebrities from genre favorites ranging from Friday the 13th to Rob Zombie's forthcoming Halloween.

A local band called Bunny Wabbit opened the show with a tongue-in-cheek Motorhead meets the Ramones set that was lots of fun and featured strong musicianship.

FREAK13 were up next and this was no doubt the best show of the tour for us. We were on fire last night from the opening riff of "The Demon In Me" to set closer "Crystal Lake". It's an amazing feeling to know your band is really ON and firing on all cylinders. After the set we were approached by a record label scout who came out to see us and I had the chance to talk with him about the band, the FREAK13 vision and the future. Hopefully something will come out of this. He liked the band and expressed an interest in working with us at some level. We'll see...

First Jason also played their best set of the tour. Ari is a really good frontman with lots of energy and their original songs like, "Jason is Watching" and "Red, Red, Red" seem to be getting tighter. Their covers of "Mother" and "Twist of Cain" go over very well.

If you plan on being at Horrorhound Weekend, we'll be at Ari's booth area and milling around the event. Stop by and say hi.

Stay metal!

Last night we played WC Don's in Jackson, Miss. This was originally a stopover show between New Orleans and Memphis so we didn't expect much. Good guess on our part!

Turnout was light but those who were there were REALLY into it. We're doing a couple of covers on this tour and one is "Fiddler on the Green" from Demons and Wizards and most people in the USA do not know it. Last night a guy went nuts when we played it and was all into it singing every word. That was cool to see someone else know what is my very favorite song of all time. We also sold some boxed sets and made some new fans.

The thing is it doesn't matter how big a crowd we play to, we give 100 percent and we totally kicked ass last night. We sort of did an improv show calling out a few songs we haven't played in awhile after the first structured half of the set and it was a blast.

First Jason really hit it hard last night. This in my opinion was their most aggressive performance yet and each night it's great to see Ari take his performance to a new level. He's really, really good as a frontman. We're honored to be sharing the stage with these guys.

Well, we're about to head to Memphis for a day off to check out the Gibson Guitar factory, Graceland and some other cool stuff. Then it's off to St. Louis to play the Creepy Crawl Tuesday.

"Rolling on the highway, going to the show, stopping on the byway, playing rock and roll...."

Wow!

We had a great time playing at the Hi-Ho Lounge in New Orleans last night. The Big Easy is always lots of fun to play and last night was certainly no exception. To start off with a kick-ass local band called the Pallbearers opened the show with a tight, fun set of energetic horror rock.

I've felt really good about FREAK13's performances all year but last night was the best show yet. We are really firing on all cylinders. Everyone in the band is locked in like a vice grib and Raven's singing is just stunning. We are doing two setlists for the people traveling to different shows and last night was a good testing ground for set two.

First Jason are just plain fun to watch. The band are all solid musicians and Ari is a good singer and a truly great frontman. From the opening notes of "Red, Red, "Red" and until set closer, "Jason is Watching", these guys just bleed energy and embody the whole Friday the 13th mythos. It's an honor to share the stage with them.

Tonight's show is at WC Don's in Jackson, Miss. We hope to see some of you out there.

Stay metal!

Before I hit the sack, just wanted to say "thanks" to everyone who came out and made the "Creatures of Crystal Lake Tour" kick-off a success. The opening show at the Vortex was great, well attended and both FREAK13 and First Jason kicked major ass. Also, things to Rejected Unwanted for coming out and bring their brand of intense horror punk to the people of Beaumont all the way from Houston. Thanks guys! Good show!

I put up a couple of pics in the gallery from the show.

Stay metal!

Well, I'm back with a short update.

First off the release date for our boxed set, "Legacy of Horror" is June 29, which is the kick-off night for the "Creatures of Crystal Lake Tour".

We've just posted our lead single for the boxed set which is "Believe In Me", which features the amazing voice of Tony Todd, the Candyman. Yes, we got Tony Todd to work with us on this song and he just really brought it to life. For my career, it's the ultimate highlight. I'm still stunned at how great it came out.

Also, we added St. Louis to the tour dates and may add one more and then the whole tour will be booked.

The media is really picking up on the tour. Check this story that headlined the entertainment section of Newsblaze.

Anyway, let us know what you think about "Believe In Me" and if you'll be coming to check out the tour with us and the amazing First Jason.

Stay metal!

Fans of horror, heavy metal and punk will get a two-fisted dose of those combustive elements this summer as Krampus: The Movie presents the "Creatures of Crystal Lake Tour".
This tour will blast through the South and Midwest and features the bands First Jason and FREAK13.
First Jason is fronted by Jason himself, Ari Lehman, the actor that portrayed the first incarnation of the legendary camp killer in the 1980 classic. The band also features "Spider Baby" Jason Brown on lead guitar, "Wildman" Andy Wojtaszek on rhythm
guitar, "Nefarious" Chuck Lescewicz (also of MACABRE) on bass and Amit "Cleaver" Shamir (Toured w/CRO-MAGS) on drums.
Playing a wild mix of punk and metal, the band deliver a killer set that reflects Lehman's horror roots and takes fans on a journey to Crystal Lake.
"People are such big fans of the Jason character and this is my way of embracing that and celebrating it in a twisted, but fun musical setting," said Lehman who handles all vocal duties.
First Jason have thrilled audiences at horror conventions in the Midwest and have created a dedicated fan base with songs "Red, Red, Red," "You Better Run" and "Sink or Swim".
FREAK13 are as legendary horror television host Joe Bob Briggs said, "...the only band to combine serious horror and serious metal".
Based in the swamps of southeast Texas, they have their own link to the Friday the 13th franchise, having played the official 25th anniversary celebration in Hollywood (Necrocomicon) and recorded a rendition of their number 1 Internet metal chart hit "Crystal Lake" with Betsy Palmer, the actress who portrayed Jason's mom "Pamela Voorhees".
"Betsy has become a friend of the band and provided an awesome narration for the song that just took it to an entirely new level. It was such an honor working with her," said FREAK13 bassist/vocalist Chester Moore.
The band are about to release the first single from their boxed set "Legacy of Horror", a Candyman-inspired track called "Believe in Me".
"We got Tony Todd to work with us on the song and do an amazing narration that sends chills down the spine of everyone who hears its. It's just stunning and we are so proud to have worked with him. To me he's like the modern Bela Lugosi or Vincent Prince, his voice and presence are unmistakable," Moore said.
Moore also said that having Krampus, the Movie and its affiliate Twister Mouse Entertainment, LLC sponsoring the tour will not only allow the bands to bring a real horror rock show to the fans, but also that is a perfect business partnership.
"Having a horror/metal/punk tour supported by a forthcoming horror film is a match made in heaven or perhaps elsewhere," he said.
"A supporter of the band pointed us in the direction of Amanda Carver of Twister Mouse Entertainment who had this amazing concept for Krampus, I thought it would be great to tie them in with the tour and fortunately for everyone that's how it
worked out."
For those curious as the meaning of "Krampus", it is a twisted, dark Christmas time legend from Austria that is sure to scare the hell out of everyone once it hits the silver screen.
"I did a little research and found no other movie ever done on this legend and of course the creative juices started flowing. To be affiliated with a horror film is great, but to have a relationship with one that is treading pretty much new ground takes it to a new level and that is something we are always looking to do," Moore said.
Other sponsors of the tour include Bump in the Night Productions who will provide props and stage wear for the tour and CLC Graphix who are currently in a licensing agreement with FREAK13 for merchandise.
"We are going to have an awesome stage set and merchandise for this. We will only accept the best and that's exactly who we are involved with," Moore said.
The tour kicks off June 29 in Beaumont, TX and will end Friday July 13 in Chicago.
"This tour will be your chance not only to see some of the leaders in the underground horror rock movement but meet Jason himself, Ari Lehman, as he will be doing meet and greets at every show along with the bands," said Ronnie Friend, A&R
representative for Almas Records.
"Prepare yourself because the 'Creatures of Crystal Lake' might just be coming to your town."
