Gina Laurenzi is the Founder, Head of Development, and Artistic Director for Captivate Kenosha Dance Company. Ms. Laurenzi was born and raised in Kenosha and as a teenager trained under and taught dance for Ms. Julie Ann Seidl in her local studio SASS Productions. At eighteen, with help from Ms. Seidl and SASS, Gina decided to further her dance training by commuting to Evanston, IL to take classes at Giordano Dance Center. Eventually, she moved out of Kenosha and into the city of Chicago after receiving a full merit scholarship to train at Giordano Dance Center. After training in all forms of dance for two years at the studio in the scholarship program Gina was moved into the Giordano 2 Company as an understudy for Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago. During her years in Chicago, Ms. Laurenzi taught ballet, jazz, and hip hop at several Illinois studios including Stephanie's Academy of Dance in Aurora, IL, the Barrington Park District, and Encore Dance Center in Vernon Hills, IL. Gina substitute taught in Mundeline, Libertyville, and Naperville, IL and at Giordano Dance Center where she also worked as an assistant to the studio coordinator for two years. After another year of training at Giordano Dance Center and other various Chicago dance studios, in May of 2006, Ms. Laurenzi decided to move back to Wisconsin to take over the former SASS Productions, which is now the YMCA DANCE Program.
Gina is currently the Dance Coordinator for YMCA DANCE and Founder and Artistic Director of New Beginnings: A Performing Dance Company. To stay connected to the Chicago dance community, Gina dances and performs with Inaside Chicago Dance and performed most recently in the company's fall concert "For the Cause" and through the month of November in Dance Chicago 2006. Ms. Laurenzi enjoys working with her Kenosha students and being a part of the positive Kenosha arts community. The next step in Gina's plan is to raise further awareness for dance and the arts in Kenosha by establishing a following for Captivate Kenosha Dance Company. She hopes to inspire all ages and appeal to all people, young dancers and non-dancers alike, with something that everyone can enjoy.
