Dear Friends,

The ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />University of Idaho Women's Center is accepting nominations for the 2007 Virginia Wolf Distinguished Service Awards.

Now in its fifth year, the award is given to one UI student, one UI faculty or staff member, and one community member, each of whom have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to activism for gender justice and equity rights.

Virginia ("Ginny") Wolf, UI professor of physical education from 1964-1982, was actively involved in promoting gender issues at the UI. Her efforts led to the permanent establishment of the UI Women's Center, and to the creation of affirmative action programs for women. The Virginia Wolf Distinguished Service Awards were created in Ginny's honor in 2002.  Please see our website (http://www.students.uidaho.edu/wolfawards ) for a list of past award recipients.

This year's recipients will be honored on Wednesday, March 28 at 12:00 noon in the Silver/Gold Rooms in the Student Union Building on the UI campus. A luncheon buffet will be provided and there is no charge for admission. Registration is requested, due to a maximum capacity of 100 guests.

The keynote will be presented by Dr. Tricia Rose, professor of Africana Studies at Brown University. Dr. Rose specializes in 20th century African-American culture and politics, social thought, popular culture, and gender issues.

An award nomination form is attached to this message, and is also available on our web site at http://uidaho.edu/womenscenter/wolfawards. Nominations are due by March 21, 2007.
