ok so LA is going on the list of places I could never never never never live.

but my show in santa clarita was pretty good...it's this tiny town northeast of LA and apparently its mainly cookie-cutter houses and strip malls, but the people at the coffee shop (java dave's) were really nice.

I gotta figure out how to play standing up...cause I always want to do it but I never practice that way so it makes me mess up...

thats not how you say "new mexico" in french.

but i did play at the buckhorn, a bar in a teeny town outside silver city called pinos altos. the bar looks pretty much exactly how you would imagine a bar called "the buckhorn." i got there, and apparently the guy who actually runs the open mic wasn't there, so i just hijacked a corner and played for awhile (blonde bartender said it was ok, random dude helped out with the PA) we finagled a mikestand out of an antique tripod and some duct tape. i played a borrowed guitar, which of course was a goddamn classical guitar instead of the kind i normally play, which of course makes it sound all muddy and clumsy. but i guess it was good enough, because people actually listened! i never expect that at a bar.

anyway, i'm big in new mexico, everybody knows me there, i'm pretty much a legend, they cried when i left. and had a parade.
