Taste Buds #66 on Beer Tap TV: Blowin’ Steam Up Your Skirt (Steamworks Colorado Kolsch)From The Brewer: The Colorado Kölsch is a derivative of German Kölschs, which were created in response to the popular lager-based Pilsners being produced in the Czech Republic in the 1840s. For those of you who haven’t studied your beer history, that means it’s a light crisp ale with a hint of sweetness. And very refreshing. Alcohol by Volume - 4.5% International Bitterness Units - 17 Standard Reference Method - 3.2 From Us: At first blush this looks like colored water, but don’t let the looks fool you. Turns out this Silver Medal winning brew is a great summertime session beer.

From The Brewer: Southampton Brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles of his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maliter, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristics of Southapmton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead. BEER TAP TV NEWS:We have lots of giveaways coming up, private parties (Tweetup @ Great Divide Brewery on April 24) and special events (VIP trip to see “Beer Wars” on April 16). But we can’t let you know about them, or give you stuff, if we don’t know who you are. So stay up to date on all things BTTV by registering here.

Originally posted on the Southern Colorado Beer Examiner column... Beerdrinker of the Year to be crowned at Wynkoop It all comes down to this. All the pint slamming beer consumption, the globe trotting pub visits, the detailed note taking, and the endless experimental homebrewing. For three bona fide Beer Geeks, all of their "hard work" and dedication to craft beer will culminate this Saturday (February 21) at the Wynkoop Brewery in Denver, Colorado... when the 2009 Beerdrinker of the Year is revealed! The Colorado Legislature recently proposed House Bill 1192. HB1192 would allow grocery stores to sell full strength craft beers. Sound like a great idea? It's not. Please watch our PSA style video ( http://beertaptv.com/BeerB..uzz/HB1192)... it explains why this bill is bad for beer, liquor stores, the Colorado craft beer industry, selection, and most importantly... bad for you and the Colorado economy. Time is running out, please act quickly and help save Colorado and Colorado brewers. Go to VoteSmart.org, find your State Senators and your Colorado House Representative and send them an email, fax or give them a phone call. Let them know you are opposed to HB1192 and you want it killed in committee next Wednesday, February 11th, before they waste any more of your tax dollars deliberating over this bill! Have questions? You can visit Save Colorado Craft Beer ( http://savecoloradocraftbe..er.com/) or you can Email us at AlwaysHoppy@BeerTapTV.com
