ENGLISH:
Retarded - Goes Louder CD
The album cover actually speaks volumes on this one. Four dudes, dressed in denim (jeans and jackets), t-shirts, and Converse, posing in a NY subway car. Sounds like an amalgam of the RAMONES and TURBONEGRO, right? Actually, it's pretty close. RETARDED are more SCREECHING WEASEL/QUEERS than TURBONEGRO, rock and pop and punk. And denim. What's more, they're from Italy. Who would've thought? Indeed, who cares? They sing in the international language of rock and rock/pop pretty hard too. I like it a lot. Ciao. - Ramsey Kanaan

The RETARDED--"Goes Louder"

Something happened to the RETARDED between the self titled debut and Goes Louder. I don't know if it was a strict regiment of the all elusive ROCK & ROLL COCTAIL. Maybe they threw a bunch of TV's out of Hotel windows. Maybe they found some amps that went to 11. Maybe they just wanted to ROCK, LOUDER!
I've been waiting a long time for a new RETARDED album. We've had our tastebuds quenched a few small times during the YEARS waiting for the newest full length, but it was never enough. Now, my friends you can own one of your own. Out now on INSUBORDINATION RECORDS myspace.com/insubordinationrecords
"Goes Louder" offers 12 of Rocks finest songs. Wrapped up in a tight package that leaves you sweaty and desperatly wanting more. The Retarded will be playing the Insubordination Records FEST in Baltimore this summer. And you can bet your ass I will be in the front row slamming my head in the air. I haven't been this excited to see a band play since, well, I can't remember a time.
Back to basics---The record opens with The Godfather himself DEE DEE RAMONE adding a little soundbite for the band to get you started and moves directly into "Staying Alive" a full on Assult of the senses. If you were expecting a bubblegum love song this is not the album for you. They hold nothing back. They stick to new guns that are tough and unwilling to back down from Rock!
"High Heels Short Skirt" is as sexy as it sounds---a throwback to the eighties but updated the only way the RETARDED know how, hard, catchy riffs, killer solos and a Swagger that Rock Gods are made of. Def one of my favorites.
"Gambling on Rock"--came out on a 7" of the same title back in 2006 and was all killer and no fluff. This, to me is an anthem to Rock, despite everything going on in the world or your life you should never turn your back on Rock!
"Gasoline"--A weather beaten tale of life on the Road as a punk Band. We've all been there but this song ROCKS. The vocals are strong and demanding enough to know they are SERIOUS! I wouldn't fuck with the RETARDED!
"You Gotta Hear Me"--A new perspective on the breakup song. Vengeful and hopeless, but isn't that how love sometimes ends up.
"Reaction"---Comes out of the gate fast and tight. I can't get over the guitars in this song. They scream as if they are working independently of their respective players. The vocals again breach this gap the music could of had. These guys are a tight group of people. They anticipate each other and in the end the result is a wonderful record recorded by a GREAT ITALIAN BAND.
My compliments to the chef. I hope we have alot more to expect of the RETARDED. If you go to the FEST this summer they will be playing the final night and you need to be there. But if you miss that they will be doing a small american tour this summer. Be sure to check out there myspace for all the info.http://www.myspace.com/retardedpunkrock
I know they will be in ATLANTA on July 6th at EARTHLINK LIVE.

Retarded
Goes Louder ..Retarded-->
By Keith Carman
Clearly influenced by the simplistic nature of the Ramones and the bastardised, self-deprecating humour of the Queers, Retarded deliver 12 pieces of old school punk rock that border on pop thanks to straightforward time signatures and a vocal delivery that follows any underlying guitar chords. Regardless, Retarded manage to infuse a touch more modern day anger and snotty attitude into the Zeke-like essence (albeit without so much heroin withdrawal) of their songs, thereby turning the majority of Goes Louder into a wonderfully descriptive truth. One can almost picture this quartet posturing away in their jam space or bedroom, striving to achieve the best Johnny Ramone pose while still looking as though they'd tear your face off. Overall, it would seem as though the only people who truly learned from the long history of camaraderie between Motörhead and the Ramones were, well, Retarded. It's surprising how sometimes the stuff that tries the least winds up being the best. ..Goes Louder-->(Insubordination)

Retarded
Label:Insubordination Records
Album: Goes louder
Retarded "Goes Louder" is a punk rock wrapped in a brick ready to be thrown. This album has so much energy and foot tapping power you wont be able to take it out of your stereo.
"Goes louder" is the first release for Retarded on Insubordination Records, with the release date planned for March 3rd, 2007. A previous self titled album is also available on Stardumb records, and before this several 7 inch records prior.
It seems like many of the punk bands that keep breathing life into punk music these days are no longer from the US. Maybe we passed the torch off to the rest of the world and America feels some type of burden for carrying it for so long, but the bands that are coming out of Europe are showing us that there was so much that DIDN'T happen with punk music, and Retarded are showing us exactly this.
The whole album is full of energy and pop and is very high quality. The only bad thing about his band is the fact that with them being from Europe there is not a good chance of seeing them live. But if you see their name on a flyer, you need to check them out.

Retarded
Goes Louder CD
(Insubordination Records)
(REVIEW BY LORD RUTLEDGE)
Italy's Retarded, top dog pimps of the Ramones core genre, switch gears on their third LP Goes Louder. Having evolved their sound to represent the energy and attitude of their high voltage live show, Retarded lay the hammer down and blitz their way through an album's worth of pummeling hard punk not far removed from the Turbonegro school of rock. These songs are delivered with such inexorable enthusiasm and relentless force that it's pretty much impossible to NOT like this album. It's no gag - Retarded want to rock! There's still a little of the old Retarded in the mix, but clearly this release is informed by Motorhead and AC/DC as much as it is by the Ramones. The band brings the heat with pummeling ferocity, and these songs will surely bring out your inner air guitarist (love the G 'n' R copped lead at the beginning of "High Heels Short Skirt!"). But while this album is total rock, it's not cheesy. The best tracks here ("Gambling on Rock", "I Won't Give Up!", "Faster and Faster") tow that imaginary line where KISS and The Dictators meet. Fucking excellent. The lesser tracks suggest sort of a B-team Turbonegro - hardly a bad thing in my book. Goes Louder is great fun and a most successful foray into the realm of supercharged rock. Always a formidable band, Retarded demonstrate that good tunes is good tunes.

RETARDED:
Goes Louder: CD
Italian punk rockers with a sound somewhere between the Ramones, Turbonegro, and Motörhead. I'm too much of a dork to like Motörheadsy hard rock, but if you do, I bet you'd think this was amazing. If this were a cereal, it would be Apple Jacks. I'll take 'em, but I'd rather have Froot Loops. More color (Ramones), less apple (AC/DC)! –Maddy (Insubordination)

The RETARDED – Goes Louder CD
True story, I was asking a friend what shows he was going to check out on one particular weekend. He said that he was thinking of checking out the QUEERS in Chapel Hill. I told him that gets boring after awhile. But here are the RETARDED and can you imagine the reply for that last reference? Yeah I'm gonna check out the RETARDED in Chapel Hill. Hey why bother you can read about them in the paper. But anyway I like the RETARDED. They remind me of late 90s snotty punk with some talent but not enough polish to put them into the circle of fame. And to me that's cool because I really like the RETARDED. This reminds me of the early HIVES meets the DICTATORS and that my friend means the RETARDED are kick ass Punk Fuckin Rock! It's about time for you to get into the RETARDED. By the way the RETARDED thank nobody. Wolf

THE RETARDED - Goes Louder (www.insubordinationrecords.com)
Like most Italian punk bands, The Retarded used to be straight-up Ramonescore. But on Goes Louder, the band's added a new dimension, apparently inspired by pop/metal bands like Poison and Crue. Although there are still plenty of chunky chugga-chugga riffs and dumb songs about girls, there's a Hollywood 'n' Vine swagger now along with the band's classic Bowery pose (as well as a lot of what the geeks at Guitar World would call "technical" guitar solos.) There's even one track that totally rips off a Guns N Roses riff. Aggro, loud and fun without ever really getting cheesy about it, the Retarded do indeed get louder here, but they're still pop-punk mooks looking for a good time at heart. - Jim Testa

ITALIAN:
RETARDED - Goes Louder - Insubordination rec

Apprezzerete sicuramente i nuovi Retarded. E state tranquilli, i bikini beach party proseguono senza sosta.

RETARDED
"Goes Louder"
Insubordination 2007
E soprattutto ricordate: Better Retarded than emo.
