Dear Trail Dance friends and alumni, We are pleased to announce that our 2010 Call For Entries is open and we are ready to accept your films!

The TRAIL DANCE FILM FESTIVAL introduces up-and-coming filmmakers from around the globe to Oklahoma's emergent film industry, and provides a welcoming forum to showcase films...all amidst a beautiful Western landscape.

Named one of 25 festivals "Worth the Entry Fee" by MovieMaker Magazine, Trail Dance offers an unforgettable experience filled with great films, great people, and a great atmosphere. Trail Dance 2010 will be held January 22-24th at the recently renovated Jack A. Maurer Convention Center (Located within the Simmons Center) and the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center (Named in April 2009 as one of the Top 10 Western Museums in the United States). The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center has just been outfitted with a new Christie HD DLP Projector and HD/Blu-Ray equipment making for an outstanding screening venue. Trail Dance concludes with a grand awards gala and reception, where custom sculpted Golden Drover Awards are presented to winning filmmakers, and one lucky high school student will be awarded a $2000 scholarship to pursue a career in filmmaking.

We are working feverishly to get the 2009 Edition of the Trail Dance Film Festival ready to go. We added a few new features this year including the After Party/Concert and a luncheon for the filmmakers. 3/7 (35/84) of our films will have representation at the festival - which isn't bad considering the state of the economy and the possibility of a SAG strike. Most of the films that have been nominated for an award will have someone at the fest ensuring that the award show will be packed with guests from all over the country.

We are very excited about our special guest this year. Mrs. Anderson (Heather Langenkamp-Anderson) most well known for her work on 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' and 'Just the 10 of us' will be onsite throughout the event signing autographs and giving a seminar about her career.

Hope to see you there...

Oklahoma Tourism Entities Recognized with

2007 RedBud Awards

(Tulsa, Okla.) – A record number of Oklahoma's tourism professionals gathered to honor fellow tourism industry leaders with RedBud Awards in 16 categories at the Governor's Conference on Tourism.  Lt. Gov. Jari Askins and Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department Executive Director Hardy Watkins were on hand to announce the winners during a special gala held on Oct. 1, 2007 at the Renaissance Hotel in Tulsa

"RedBud Awards represent the highest honor given in the Oklahoma tourism industry," said Watkins. "This year, we received 95 entries on behalf of tourism efforts from all across our state."

Entries are evaluated by out-of-state judges based on criteria including customer service, marketing effectiveness, media relations, variety of audiences reached, value, and overall creativity. The Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department partners with the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association to present the annual RedBud Awards.

"It was an exciting evening recognizing the efforts of our industry, and a great celebration of tourism during our Centennial year," said Watkins. "There is no better way to showcase the diversity of travel opportunities in Oklahoma than by honoring the best each year and bestowing them with this award."

While convened at the Governor's Conference on Tourism, attendees spent two days learning about the latest travel trends, media technology and more.
