Not much of a year, as years go. Anyway,...
2010 will see a bit of a change, as Fish and brother Jonnoe head off to Europe in Feb with their newly acquired Oirish/EU passports. Good luck boys, and have a BLAST... Coming in on the fat strings for 2010 will be Big Bad Pete MacDonald from The Skinners/Boney Arsed Boys. Normally a git-slinger, Pete will be helping us drink our riders and thumping out the bass. The plan?... Are we supposed to have a plan?... Damn.
The plan for 2010 is to get some country town gigs on the weekends, and I'll be doing some solo acoustic weeknight gigs, and maybe a few 45min band gigs. I'm still getting my head around asking a band to "pay to play". Or maybe I should by a laptop, a couple of cheapo turntables and become a DJ. At least venues seem willing to pay these "artistes"...

So, what sort of kickback did Tom get to bend over and take it up the date from Rupert??
Oh, well.... "The music business is a cruel and shallow money
trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and
good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."
-- Hunter S. Thompson
Tom, Tom, Tom,..... If you want to slut your arse out to Rupert be our guest. But here's a hint...
HE WONT RESPECT YOU IN THE MORNING

Been busy alright,... filling in with The Prairie Oysters, working up some new tunes with The Hard Way and trying to get some gigs. Unfortunately, We have lost the Eltham RSL. Not because we were shit last time, it's just that they're having a problem with Tatts re: pokies etc. So, the obvious answer is to shitcan all their bands.... I believe they're going to try 3 bands at a time, with a door deal. And their usual promotional budget-- of $0. So it's going to die in the arse. Oh, well... But when one door closes, another slams on your fingers-- or something to that effect. Anyway, I'm (Dave....) working with the Oysters this Friday, and Daz has a few gigs coming up with his "Jagger's Banquet" project. So one way or another, we're getting our live fix. Now fuck off, I've got phone calls to make

Been a while between pecks. Been too bloody busy, basically. Found an old friend from the past- Rob Street, the drummer from The Vincents, a band I spent 4 fun- and booze-filled years with, playing 50's rock'n'roll like it was meant to be played- loud!! Anyway Streety has a new band (The Prairie Oysters) doing country and its sub-genres and Lee, their guitarist had to go back to the Old Dart for family reasons. Need a fill-in? Dave's your man. Did a gig in Pakenham called "Rockin' Suzies" last Saturday. Had a fuckin' blast. Doing the Monash Hotel 22/8, then an acoustic spot at the Country Music Awards night, then a gig at Pascoe Vale RSL. These boys work. They have me, Mark Woolridge and another guy filling in for them. Country may not be your cup of tea, but the boys are definitely doing something right.... Now, fuck off. I gotta learn some Buck Owens....

It's been a tough weekend for Victorians. At the time of writing this, 108 people have lost their lives, at least 60 missing and 750 properties destroyed. Including the property of our drummer Darren's parents up near Myrtleford. A couple of guys that I work with live in the affected areas, one in Wallan and another in Kinglake. I hope they are alright... A real tough weekend.

Current mood: aggravated
Category: MySpace
....don't fuckin' fix it.
That is a rule my old man taught me when it came to cars, motorbikes or anything else, really. But, of course, the computer-literate generation know better, don't they.
The whole "upgrade" thing with MySpace music player is a giant pain in the arse. First, I can't delete old songs off the "new and improved" music player. Now, I can't upload new songs, only the details about them.
Did I mention that the upgraded player is a giant pain in the arse?? It is as big a pain in the arse as MySpace being infested by teenagers who take up 3 or 4 gig of space with photos of them saying "Whoa," or "Hey!" or "Wazzup?" Not only are they pretty, but intelligent and literate as well. Just ask them. Whoa...
"Tom", there was nothing wrong with the old music player until one of your geeks fucked with it. Now get Dilbert to un-fuck with it. Soon, please.

Seems that the Mojo Bros gigs we had booked at Cartel in the CBD have been shitcanned. Seems that the operator of said bar must have his/her head up his/her arse. Trev from Bag'o'Nails told me a horror story about his Sunday afternoon, so at least we were spared that- and the probable assault charge afterwards. Maybe he/she (bar manager) wants a DJ playing "live" to attract the cashed-up wankers, so that they can sit in circles texting each other without that bothersome drum noise, buying $7 Stellas...... MEH!!!!!!!

It was a neat little trip up the 31 we had on Friday night/Saturday morning. Lots of caffeine-laden beverages, John Lee Hooker on the cassette (we old-school...), no traffic, lots of sneaky coppers... A cool gig Saturday night at Beaches, a few brews, a killer steak sambo, a good crowd,... what more could a muso want?... Well, maybe more than 1 gig on a weekend. But still, if it wasn’t for Jesus’s unfortunate demise, we wouldn’t have four days off now, would we??? Pity he couldn’t have done his party trick mid-week--- crucified on a Monday, rises again on a Friday, we get 9 days off, and we can still get plastered Friday night. A unionised resurrection...maybe THAT should be on the agenda for the 2020 summit.
Now fuck off, I gotta go to church....
