For all of you who bought Songs For Cowards on the internet (via itunes, amazon, rhapsody, etc.), here is our lyric booklet so you can read along with my reeling rambling.

Thanks,
Sidewalk Dave

P.S.  Elise Granata of Inkwell Press designed the lyric booklet.  She is an amazing writer and designer and great fellow friend.  check out her free Zines and her blog HERE.

Current mood:  awake
I awoke one morning when the pavement was still cool but the sun was hot and blaring.  That comfort and balance that is only found on a summer morning.  I had sand and tiny black and grey pebbles forming grain casts in my skin.  I sat up and I felt clean as soon as I brushed them off.  The plastic flask of whiskey had one cool dram left from lying next to me all night long.  I forced the last of it down and watched it crash toward my mouth and flicker it's last golden-bronze magic.

Fellow Felons,

In an attempt to to test out new songs before I
record them with my band, I have started releasing songs via youtube.
So, if you'd like, watch my video of my latest song at:
http://www.youtube.com/wat..ch?v=c3nNRYiPwgQ

Give
me comments about what you like or don't like so that i can get a sense
of what everyone thinks. I'd love to generate some sort of discussion.
It will be great! so many of you don't know each other, but you all
know me!

I write a lot of songs and if you have a youtube
account be sure to subscribe to my videos so that you can stay up to
date with my ever growing repertoire.
Also, if you have any song
requests, please let me know and i will try to come up with a creative
way to turn it into a video for you. I VERY rarely do covers but if
there is a song you'd like me to try and do, let me know. I would be
happy to try.

If you feel inclined, send this link to people you know! that would be very helpful. And there will be more to come!

thanks so much,
Sidewalk Dave

Current mood:  animated
I'd like to take this time to thank Sam Brown of Exploding Dog.  I have always been a huge fan and I am truly honored to have the next album cover done by Exploding Dog.  Thanks sam, and thanks to anyone who is reading this and enjoys, supports, or thinks about Sidewalk Dave.  this is for all of us.  http://www.explodingdog.com/title/sidewalkdave.html

In other news... the making of Songs For Cowards (Sidewalk's debut LP) is almost ready for release.  That cover is pretty great too.  but Gold Liquid Mischief won't be started until this spring.  Hope all is well my fellow felons and friends.  if you are as excited as i am feel free to indulge in a little of your own Gold Liquid Mischief.

Love,
Sidewalk Dave

Goddamn Gospel

Lord when I say your name
I still feel filthy
my sweat is dirty
I don't feel you course my veins
oh lord when I say your name~
lord you must not know my name
I'm no disciple
and I'm sure not loyal
it don't matter what I say
and you never answer anyway

but oh lord when I'm in need
maybe almighty
ain't all it could be
cause lord it really don't seem
you've got enough power to help me~
and maybe your really our lord
but to me
what would that mean?
Am I just another to ignore?
Cause that seems a whole lot worse

Now lord I wouldn't say this
if I didn't think
I'd tried everything
but my faith, it's hanging by a string
and I need that strength if I'm gonna sing~
oh lord I need to retreat
to that black ink
and my callused skin
they are my faith when I'm weak
and you don't give, so I'll take what I need

Lord there are braver men then me
I'd hide from a giant
I'd run from a lion
but I'm not scared of what I can't see
so show yourself now, I'll drop to my knees~

Then lord when I say your name
you might answer
and I might swear
"damn you it's to late for change,
but now I know you can hear my rage."

Damn you it's too late for change
I'm way past changing my ways
these scratched chords now hold my faith
they are my lord and they know my name
