guys, just found this on a random search. Performers Magazine in Boston (Sommerville), Atlanta, and San Fran does many reivews about mostly unsigned bands; jazz, rock, and jam. They for some reason reviewed our album which we are a bit baffled by, but pleased none the less! Cheers everyone!
check it out.. http://www.performermag.com/wcp.recordedreviews.0704.php search down for m-field.

or here is its copy: M-Field - Current of Life Produced, engineered and mastered by M-Field [ J-edit; actually the album was mastered by Grant Collins in the UK of the "Darshan" project in the 1990s, J Engineered it with some remote help of Rob on the West Coast ]
M-Field's first full length is a nine-song album that does exactly what it should: deliver fresh new dance songs for the masses that still love pure, electronic dance music. The album opens with "Foundation," an airy song filled with nu-skool break beats and soft synths that permeate throughout the track, giving it an ominous air. This is the type of song that helped international superstar DJ Sasha develop his signature style. The title track is a trance-thumping anthem that leaves behind all the silly cheesiness plaguing the genre, and instead slowly brings the listener into a world that is purely electronic but with a heart - albeit, a very dark heart. "World Soul" is a track that any big name DJ could use as an opener to a set. But the standout track happens to be the very last song on the album, "Memory Traces." This down-tempo thumper could easily find itself being used for any number of movie soundtracks and is in fact eerily reminiscent of music from The Matrix. M-Field are an excellent production duo making electronic music that is sure to make waves across the scene. Their style is unique and one of the most creative, raw and compelling to come out of the North American trance scene as of late. With this release, they are easily positioning themselves for great things to come in the future. (PsyBooty Records)

Jay notes- I've remixed all the album tracks and more for the live experience. More than that, we add all kinds of crazy but musically syncopated synths, loops, and effects in the live sauce for your turned on head and turned on ears. It will sound different than the album, more engaging live, so come out and dance your ass off because that's what we're into.. - Jay Indigom ::: indigom @ gmail.com

I'd like to express my deepest thanks to everyone that came together and packed CoSM (www.cosm.org) to capacity+ the entire night and brought the very best unjaded vibes. There was art being made live by Alex and Alison Grey while Novatron, D-Space and M-Field performed throughout the evening.
The Greys were making some stunning pieces and having a wonderful time at it judging by the shared smiles.
Spot and the other talented visual artists made beautiful creations for our eyes to feast upon, and although I didn't have the opportunity to hear PsyLab; I know that they did a fantastic job.
The event exceeded all of our expectations of awesomeness, and even the darkest portions of my heart now shine.
Again. thank you everyone who joined in the event and on the CoSM staff and 28th Day Productions that worked so hard to make this event so compelling.
Does anyone happen to have some pictures that they would care to share from these events? Here are mine-- sorry for the blurry ones, my old camera needed a tripod: http://img.indigom.net/Sonic_beating_and_CoSM_releaseParties/

"After two solid compilations, of which the second – ServeEm2wice – received notably good reviews from the media, San Francisco based label, Psybooty, release their first artist album in the form of M-Field. With several solo and collaborative projects under their belt M-Field serve up a slab of 9 groovy, percussive laden compositions. Kicking off things is Foundation a teasing break-beat openener that swirls around not quite getting out of the starting blocks and could easily be the closer to the album or a party. What follows is eight 4 to floor 4 phat progressive tunes laden with swirling synths, groovy melodies and that spongy production style that seems to be Psybooty records signature.Far from simple, Current of Life is an intricate collage of melodies and counter-melodies that build and build in a most hypnotic way offering the listener a cohesiveness package of tunes ranging from 130 to 136 bpm. Overall it's an album that is well produced and is quite mellow and deep. It's not always that dance friendly but certainly great for home listening and would suit a more chilled out dance-floor or for tired legs deep into a festival. Fans of Psybooty Records will not be disappointed as this seems a natural progression from their two compilations. M-field certainly have their own sound choosing not to ride the electro bandwagon nor the traditional proggy style that is currently quite popular..."

We're beginning to get some nice reviews for the upcoming album:
Psybooty Records launch their first solo artist commitment, after defining their attitude with two original and engaging compilations. While the general theme of 'effortlessly groovy' is instantly recognisable, 'Current of Life' is clearly in no rush to become disposable dance floor fodder. Opening with quirky-intelligent track 'Foundation,' this cerebral journey through fractured rhythms crosses at least four musical genres, tying strands of breaks, house, psy and chill together in a theme that spans the album. What follows is a collection of chugging, comfortably paced US progressive trance, unashamedly electronic and invitingly accessible. Despite housey elements creeping through many of the tracks, close attention to structural ebb and flow, hypnotic percussion combined with spacious production clarity should endear this to hardened psy fans. Their philosophy best comes together on 'Conceptual Thought' - one of the albums more lively moments, 'World Soul' shows off how their deep style can wrap the listener in immersive melodies. Destined to save minds come the outdoor months.

"Current of Life" album review, track by track from Triskele Management:
Foundation Jay and Rob open up their album with an eight-minute laid back breakbeat session. Highlighting sultry, filtered electro bass-tones and groovy, intricate percussion work, "Foundation" is very immersive... Melodies flit about and disappear when needed, and no sound goes undone. A great intro track to what lies ahead in the M-Field idiom!
Current of Life The title track of this album is aptly named... it indeed has a motion and flow of its own. The thick, organic bass-line pulses and plays at your brainwaves, with plenty of lonely, eerie UFO-landing sounds to set your mind afloat. Feral, alien sounding and very highly danceable, this is the sort of progressive music not to be confined indoors.
Progressive Evolution A funky bass and subtle phasings within the ever-evolving percussion signify the meat of this third track. Between the pleasing background congas and the building synth rhythms, the whole arrangement feels abstract and tribal. There's some great slicing work in the dissonant background static, but when the melodies start falling on your ears like waterdrops, things really get sensual and flavourful!
Morphotronic "Morphotronic" starts off slightly more up-tempo and a shade darker than the pieces before. Saturated with drum sounds of the world, both ancient and modern, with a hint of industrial for flavour, M-Field raises the level with this one! Much like the rest of this album, the sounds are clean, squishy, and live sounding, an audio entity attempting to communicate.
Punctuated Equilibrium Following the trend of "Morphotronic", the fifth track of the CD comes at you faster and more menacing. Warped percussion practically bounces around your head and the bass is crouched low and growling. The primitive sounds at the beginning seem to refine themselves as the track goes on, gaining culture and a "disco" character, with some especially interesting percussion and synth swirlings towards the end!
Conceptual Thought This piece comes at you from the musical midsection, but before too long, Jay and Rob throw in a nicely thumping kick-drum to help your feet get going. The rhythms descend like a musical staircase and the great tension-and release moments and unexpected changes really build up the energy in a way that so many progressive psy tracks nowadays are simply lack luster at.
Unified Theory M-Field supplies just what this album needed to continually and perpetually raise the vibe! Neatly acidic with some greatly placed stabs and harmonies, these two make this track deliver! Great for elevating those outdoor full-moon sets, along with the others, "Unified Theory" is best heard outside. Depth and atmosphere pervade this piece of music and guarantee a smoothly musical ride.
World Soul Now that M-Field has you hanging in the outer reaches of musical orbit, "World Soul" drifts into play... the airy pads sweep around you like cirrus clouds while the bassbeat forumulates leisurely to carry you on its current. This piece seems to specialize in sounds which are easy on your ears, and other senses. Appropriately placed near the end of the tracklist, "World Soul" winds you down nicely!
Memory Traces At once a great lead out track to what has been a fantastic saga of a trance music soundscape, "Memory Traces" leaves you with a chunky trip-hop breakbeat to enjoy... sinister bass hollow vox pads and psychedelic acid squelches and computery bleeps and bloops are masterfully placed and simply sound great. This is a downtempo track that is different in all the right ways and offers the truest peek at the musical potential of the two artists of M-Field!
We are looking for quality promoters and production crews worldwide to host M-Field CD launch events. We can also offer a PsyBooty Label party. If you are interested, feel free to contact Robin at Triskele Management or David at PsyBooty to discuss what's on offer.

A review from Katja of Germany's Mushroom magazine
The Americans finally have something to be proud of and that's this album from M-Field, which is to be released early 2007. Starts with a chillin track to get us ready for a journey into a state of Trance, followed up by pumping and playful Trance grooves, created with warm heart and hand, to be finished off with a chill out track. This album covers many genres over its duration such as Trance, House, Tribal and Psychedelic. It's an atmospheric and universal Full-Prog-on album, fits well on open airs but also on the home PA and headphones. Definitely a great investment for buyers that know good Trance music. My only problem with this album is that it's not to be released on vinyl ... (Katja)
